Like an engineering student on a calculus test.

BUT WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

Because Akko doesn't give up. No matter how many times she falls flat on her face, how many potions explode in her face, how many teachers try to tame her with rigid rules. Akko is a monument to stubbornness. And that's what life is all about: taking a beating and moving on. She doesn't have talent? Great. She has willpower, and that, in a narrative, is more important than any "natural gift".

Not to mention the supporting characters. Lotte (goat), the shy little witch who reads fanfics about vampires in love. Sucy, the dark goth obsessed with poisons who would clearly be in a Reddit subforum planning her own secret society. Diana Cavendish, the rich, blonde, talented rival who exudes superiority. They all orbit Akko perfectly, balancing her chaotic energy with doses of realism and sarcasm.

ANIMATION THAT RESPECTS YOU

There is no forced fanservice. There are no one-dimensional villains who want to dominate the world just because. There is no cheap emotional appeal. What it does have are well-written characters, a story that grows organically, and a powerful moral: magic does not come from divine gifts, but from the effort of those who refuse to stop believing.
