To view information on Flippy's evil side, see Fliqpy. Flippy is a green male bear. He wears dog tags around his neck and a green beret with a checkered crest on his head. He is a retired veteran soldier in the Army. He fought in the Weaponized Animal Regiment (The W.A.R), and has an obsession with making booby traps inspired by the Viet Cong, as well as a flashback of his experience of being held captive by them (as seen in Easy For You to Sleigh episode). In addition, his attire seems to resemble the U.S. Army Special Forces, which played a role during the Vietnam War. As he fought for years, he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. According to writer Warren Graff, Flippy is mostly inspired by and based on John Rambo. During the internet and TV series, it is unknown if Flippy has retired from the Army or if they are simply in a time of peace. Flippy rarely appears in the series, most likely due to his repetitive behavior in most of the episodes in which he appears. Lumpy most likely has even more kills than Flippy, since he has below 150 kills and has only appeared in 23 episodes so far. Flippy is the only character in the series to cause the deaths of other characters on purpose in every episode which he appears, at least when he "flips out" (except for Without a Hitch and Happy Trails Pt. 2: Jumping the Shark, where he never flips out for real, and Autopsy Turvy (Double Whammy Part II), where all of his kills happen by accident). He has a severe case of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). Whenever he sees or hears something that reminds him of war (e.g., gunshot-like sounds or crackling campfires), he becomes delusional and extremely aggressive, often killing everyone in sight. (It's possible he also has dissociative identity disorder as a result of his experience in war, judging from him basically becoming someone else in most of his appearances and the few instances he resisted his evil side during Double Whammy and Hear Today, Gone Tomorrow, much like a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde complex). He also might "flip out" due to anger or stress as seen in Random Acts of Silence and Happy Trails Pt. 2: Jumping the Shark. While flipped-out, several physical features about him change: His eyes turn a different color, usually green or yellow, his voice changes from high and cute to deep and evil, and his teeth become sharp. In the early internet shorts, his teeth simply became crooked. There has even been one instance where his eyes became small, circular, and with a light blue iris (Remains to be Seen). If he is in his evil state, he (along with Lumpy, The Mole, Cro-Marmot, and Nutty) doesn't have Pac-Man shaped pupils. When he is flipped out, he is known as Fliqpy. He also has an allergic reaction to peanuts (or venison) just like Flaky (if his allergy to peanuts is true). The Blurb version of Remains to be Seen also states that he is allergic to chocolate and candy corn. However, like most Blurbs, most of the info mentioned isn't considered canon until approved, so this may not be true. Flippy also appears to be an extremely heavy sleeper, as seen in Easy For You to Sleigh and Hear Today, Gone Tomorrow. He is considered one of the most popular characters of the series. However, Fliqpy's appearances are rare, to keep his behavior from becoming repetitive. According to writer Warren Graff, Fliqpy is based on John Rambo. Fliqpy fought in the Weaponized Animal Regiment (W.A.R.), and he is obsessed with making booby traps inspired by the Viet Cong. In addition, his attire resembles that of the U.S. Army Special Forces, which played a role during the Vietnam War. The stripes on said uniform show that, despite his obvious trauma starting when he was a private, he managed to reach the rank of sergeant. He can also fly a helicopter, as shown in Hear Today, Gone Tomorrow. While serving in the W.A.R., Flippy suffered trauma from seeing the deaths of those with whom he served. Since then, he has developed Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It is unknown whether Flippy has been discharged from the Army, he is on leave, or the war has ended. Episodes where he appears usually begin with him as Flippy, but he will be exposed to something that reminds him of warfare, he will 'flip out' - hence his name - and kill anyone around him. Flippy has no memory of anything he does during his 'flip-outs'. In the episode Double Whammy, Flippy sought professional help and defeated his evil self in Part 2. For a while fans believed Fliqpy was gone for good, but his flip-out in the short On My Mind dispelled the rumors and it has not been a one-off incident. Fliqpy always carries a bowie knife and multiple grenades but often improvises his weapons from everyday objects or uses Viet-Cong-style booby traps. He has the second highest kill count in the series, beaten only by Lumpy with over 300 kills. However, he has the highest average kill-count at 6 per episode, and no other character in the series intentionally murder other characters as much as Fliqpy does. It was confirmed on Twitter on November 30th, 2015[1] that Fliqpy is acting under the delusion that he is still in the war and does not realize that he is killing innocent people, making it difficult to consider him genuinely evil. However he is very rarely shown having actual flash-backs and it is unknown if Fliqpy would act the same way if he knew his victims were innocent civilians, not enemy soldiers. [Fliqpy's Episodes and Flip-Outs] Hide and Seek - A woodpecker sounds like a machine gun to him. This Is Your Knife - A campfire and the sparks from it remind him of the war he was in. Flippin' Burgers - Cuddles spills ketchup over Giggles, and It reminds him of blood during the war. Keepin' it Reel - The flashing from the movie projector reminds him of a flashing gun during war. Remains to be Seen - His truck backfires, sounding like a gun firing. Party Animal - Nutty spins like a tornado and picks up some peanuts from Mime's hand, flinging them into Flaky's mouth. She inflates due to her peanut allergy and pops the balloons with her quills. Toothy and Flippy notice, and this reminds Flippy of machine guns firing. Double Whammy Part I - First, the airplane ride reminds him of the air force during the war. Second, Lumpy shows him a splotch picture that looks like an explosion (he flipped back after Lumpy splashed him with a bowl of water). Third, Mime blows on fire, which reminds him of the flamethrowers the enemies used during the war. Finally, he squeezes his stress relief toy too hard that it to explode, which reminds him of a gunshot. Autopsy Turvy (Double Whammy Part II) - Fliqpy is brought on when Flippy takes some kind of medication. On My Mind - When he attempts to open a champagne bottle, the bottle top flies off, making a gunshot-like noise and causing Flippy to flip out. New Season Teaser - Unknown cause. Random Acts of Silence - When Nutty opens the fire exit door, the alarm goes off, which to him sounds like the alarm for a bomb warning and causes Flippy to flip out. By The Seat Of Your Pants - The Mole shoots a starting pistol and it reminds him of a real gun. A Vicious Cycle - Cause of Flip-Out unknown. In Over Your Hedge - When Flippy gets covered by smoke, he is reminded of his friend during the war, who died from war chemicals melting his face, causing Flippy to flip out. Hot Tub Shake - Unknown cause.
