At school, he was known as the creepy, smelly weird kid. Middle school was the time of his parents' divorce. His dad didn't have a bed for him to sleep on, so William would sleep on a futon on the floor with his dog, so that's the reason he was smelly. He would also sleep in his school uniform, because he didn't have the energy to change in the morning. Will has a memory of sitting on the stairs while his parents were shouting about not wanting him. As far as he says, William still has good contact with his mum, though. His mum later married another man, which made William have a step sister. But, the man and William's mum also got divorced, William still thinks of Demi as his sister despite that, though. Gold first became known in 2017 for his work on the group YouTube channel, SootHouse, which was founded by Gold and some of his friends. This channel consisted mostly of reaction videos, with its members discussing memes and life hacks, among other topics. On May 30, 2019, the SootHouse channel reached 1 million subscribers, but is not, and will not be producing any content. Gold's main channel, Wilbur Soot, was created on 29 March 2019. This channel reached 1 million subscribers on 8 April 2020, and, as of November 2023, it has amassed over 6.28 million subscribers, but William is not active there as he is busy with his music carrier. Gold also not so actively live streams on Twitch, where, as of November 2023, he has amassed over 4.8 million followers, making him the 44th-most-followed channel on the platform. Wilbur has been releasing solo music. His most popular song from that time being "Your ne Boyfriend" released on 11 December, 2020.He has released two EP's under his name: "Maybe I Was Boring" (Released on 25 December, 2019) and "Your City Gave Me Asthma" (Released on 25 June, 2020) both of the EP's talked about his awful experience during his stay in London and about his not healthy romantic relationship at the time. Wilbur's band, Lovejoy, was founded by William Gold and Joe Goldsmith in 2021. The two met from previously playing in the same folk group. The band was originally called "Hang the DJ". The current name is after Benedict Lovejoy, a friend of the band, who would sit with them during their early days of songwriting. Before joining Lovejoy, drummer Mark Boardman had been studying editing at university, bass guitarist Ash Kabosu was working in TV broadcasting, and lead guitarist Joe Goldsmith was a tree surgeon. Gold met Kabosu, a friend of a friend, in a Smashburger shop in Brighton, and asked him if he'd like to join the band. During studio recording, the band hired Boardman on Fiverr, and after watching him perform, Gold invited him to join as a permanent member. The band recorded their debut EP, Are You Alright?, in two days at Brighton Electric in March 2021. It was released on 8 May 2021, which saw Lovejoy debut at number 10 on Billboard's Emerging Artists chart on 20 May 2021. Their second EP, Pebble Brain, was recorded in August 2021 at Small Pond Recording Studios in Brighton, and released on 14 October 2021. The EP peaked at number 12 on the UK Albums Chart. The songs of this EP had the theme of failed romantic relationships, but also expand to political unrest. He started paying more attention to how his body looked, he wanted to gain some weight, in order to not look like a "skeleton", as he would describe himself. It was alright for some time, he just ate more food and exercised, till he started to eat TOO much. It was probably caused by his shitty mental health, but it got to the point he was ordering two pepperoni pizzas and a large cookie from Papa John's every day for three months straight (which caused him not being able to even look at Papa John's food anymore). One day, he googled how many calories that really is, it was 3800 calories a day, which was almost a double amount of his needed calories. He then realized how much weight he was actually gaining from that, and realized that he was getting overweight. William the decided that he wanted to lose the weight. At first, he was taking it slowly, he got a professional dietician and went to the gym, but he was getting impatient. He lowered his daily calorie intake to about 1150 calories a day. It worked, it worked too well. He lost the weight he gained almost immediately (which was about 70 pounds). William was satisfied, he sticked to that diet for a while, he was maintaining normal weight. After he starting touring with Lovejoy though, he started to get more self conscious about his body image, he wanted to look his best on stage. His calorie intake got even lower, his diet now consists from almost only dried meat and rice cakes, and whenever he thinks he ate too much, he would purge (make himself throw up the food). William refuses to let anyone confront him about his eating habits and whenever someone tried, he would turn it into a joke or completely deny it. It's painfully obvious that William is struggling though, his hair started to thin really quickly and he got visibly underweight.") In 2019, Will broke up with his girlfriend, Amelia. He traveled all across Europe with her, and during that trip (and their whole relationship), Amelia was abusive towards Will, verbally and much likely also physically. Needles to say, this relationship left him traumatized and depressed, even suicidal. And as "Your City Gave Me Asthma" And "Maybe I Was Boring" only talk about his relationship with Amelia, "Mamallian Sighing Reflex" Also talks about different relationship of William's. His relationship with another streamer, Shelby, she broke up with him because he abused her. William would bite her until her legs and arms were all bruised and he would not stop even if she was screaming in pain, in addition, he would also show off the bruises to his friends. He would on purpose not clean his flat because he knew Shelby would just do it for him, and then William would go on to flex to his friends about it. There was this one time Will pinned Shelby up to a wall to see how much she would struggle to get out of his grip, which reminded Shelby of his ex, who sexually harassed her. William would also rarely ever pay for any dates they would go to, when they would travel to see each other hundreds of times, he payed for maybe five of his flights, Will promised Shelby he would pay for Shelby's petsitter, which he did only once.
