Dingodile is a genetically enhanced hybrid of a dingo and a crocodile, having a crocodile's body and tail, and characteristics of a dingo with an Australian accent. He makes his first appearance in Crash Bandicoot: Warped, after which he makes regular appearances in the entire Crash Bandicoot series, with his latest appearance being Crash Team Rumble. Out of all of Cortex's animal minions, Dingodile has made the second most appearances in the series, behind Tiny Tiger who made more appearances.
Dingodile is often equipped with a flamethrower, which is fueled by a large gas tank worn on his back. The flamethrower is occasionally traded for a water gun in some games, like the DS version of Crash of the Titans. He is also known to attack with his tail. It is generally assumed that Dingodile was created by Neo Cortex, but Dingodile has been known to work independently, or even against Cortex from time to time. Sometime after the events of Warped, Dingodile seemingly lost his loyalties as one of Dr. Cortex's henchmen and retired from his villainous ways to open his own diner at Mosquito Marsh. However when his business competitor Papa Batfield managed to destroy his restaurant, Dingodile bared arms once more to get his revenge. He used his Vacuum Cannon to dismantle Papa Batfield's juice mixing vats and blow up his juice cellar before an interdimensional portal called a Quantum Rift suddenly pulled Dingodile into an alternate dimension. For much of the game, Dingodile attempts to return home while inadvertently helping Crash and Coco on their adventure through the multiverse. Dingodile has the appearance of both a dingo and a crocodile combined: his body shape is that of a crocodile, but it is covered in brown fur like a dingo. He has large darker brown patches visible on his back in Crash Team Racing. This seems to have been removed in future appearances, though view of them may just be blocked by his flamethrower's gas tank. While he is mostly covered in fur, his hands, feet, belly and muzzle are covered in skin like a crocodile's belly, which is beige. He is often shown with sharp, crooked teeth. His tail is usually scaly and green, except for the Nintendo DS version of Crash of the Titans where it is brown. His eyes are usually dark blue, except for his in-kart model in Crash Team Racing and Twinsanity where they are brown, The Wrath of Cortex where they are dark green, and Crash Nitro Kart and Crash Purple, where they are green (probably due to N. Trance's brainwashing). In Twinsanity and It's About Time, he has yellow scleras. In the latter game, his green scales extend along his back to his neck.
He is usually seen carrying a flamethrower with a big tank on his back. He is approximately 2 meters (6 feet) tall and weighs about 95 kilograms. He gains size and weight in his appearances in Twinsanity and onwards, to the point of looking pig-like in Crash of the Titans. His pants can be beige, green or blue, and he never wears shoes or a shirt (except in It's About Time, where he wears a black sleeveless jacket). In Crash Nitro Kart, he wears one of N. Trance's hypnotism helmets. In On the Run!, he wears once again his flamethrower and blue jean pants.
Personality: Dingodile is one of the most intelligent of Cortex's henchmen. In general, he is a pyromaniac who is quite vicious and seldom seen without his flamethrower. Despite his dangerous and cunning personality however, like many enemies of Crash, he is sometimes buffoonish and reckless. His own trigger-happy and destructive nature often is the key to his downfall. He also tends to have a darkly playful and rather humorous side, as he often tends to make jokes about food. Before battling Crash in Warped, for example, he cackles "Break out the butter... I'm gonna make toast!" Another example occurs in Twinsanity: "Rumor is you two chumps have got your mitts in some treasure, and I want a piece of that pie." When Dingodile first appeared, he had a raspy Australian accent. However, in Crash Bash, he had an uncharacteristically deep and somewhat goofy laugh whenever he won a minigame. He regained his first accent in Crash Nitro Kart. In Crash Nitro Kart, Dingodile is seen showing traits of cowardice. Examples of this are present when he covers his eyes during a particularly high jump, and when he says lines such as "I can't look!" It is believed that this trait stems from being under the powerful hypnosis of N. Trance, and is not present when he is not under his mind control. In Crash Bandicoot 4: It's About Time, he seems to have discarded his more villainous side, desiring to only live in retirement and run his diner. Even when he encountered Tawna, Crash, Coco, and Neo Cortex, he decided to help them and the Quantum Masks to take down both N. Tropys in exchange for returning him home. This is notable evidence that he indeed has had a change of heart. He also seems to have a rather vulgar sense of humor, as when he and the other playable characters saw the N. Tropys flirting with each other, while the others felt both disgusted and confused, Dingodile was amused (as seen by him nudging Crash's shoulder and laughing at the Drs. Tropy). He is also more foul-mouthed than he was in previous games, and is one of the few characters in the game to use swear words (one of the others being Crash in the 100% ending). In Crash Bandicoot: On the Run!, Dingodile came back to his villainous life, working for Dr. Neo Cortex and trying to stop Crash and Coco from ruining the mad scientist's plan of multiverse domination. However, with different versions of Dingodile appearing, him turning back to being a villain may not be the case.
