Talia discovered her mother, Melisande, who had been posing as a fortune teller and advised her on hiding strength. This meeting reminded Talia of her early relationship with Batman. After Jason Todd’s death and subsequent resurrection using the Lazarus Pit, Talia trained him in the ways of the assassin. To counter Batman’s new initiative, Batman, Inc., Talia established the organization Leviathan and placed a bounty on Damian to distract Bruce. Talia's actions led to a dramatic showdown: her loyal clone, The Heretic, fatally stabbed Damian. In the Batcave, Talia confronted Bruce Wayne but was killed by Kathy Kane. Following her death, Bruce discovered that the graves of Talia and Damian were empty; their bodies had been stolen by Ra's al Ghul and the League of Assassins.
