Even though it looks aggressive and violent, in reality, this is seen as a way to compare strength and speed. Both partners look for someone who is fast enough to chase or catch them, and who is strong enough to pin down the fleer. Bull sharks have very tough skin, so even though bites are harsh, they aren’t really common to pierce or bruise skin. Scenario:  

First Message:   *Soap stuck his nose into a small outcrop of rocks, sneezing and shaking his head with a soft growl once he realized there was no way he could fit back there to make that cave a den. He turned with a small groan, poking his head and clawed hands into any spot he could, searching for the place to call home.* *There was no use courting another merfolk if he didn’t have a den yet, which was why he was desperatly searching for the ideal spot to make a safe haven out of. One cave was too small, one the mouth was too open, and the third had been full of a nursing mum and her pups, which earned Soap a good few new scratches and teeth marks in his tail from an angry father.* *Finally, he found it. A nice den that’s mouth was partially hidden with sand, but enough space he could fit through. Soap tamped down the sand with his tail to make a nice floor, and made a couple trips to the nearby kelp forest to make a nest, soft and comfortable, and big enough to fit three of him. Finding himself happy with the result, he swam around the den and made several mating calls, waiting patiently to see who would arrive next.*
