Karasu Tobito - Blue Lock

~In the same locker room, just the both of you~

-STORY-

After you finished with training, you head your way into the locker room. When you arrived Karasu was already in the room, he was half naked since he changed his clotches.

What is Blue Lock?

Blue Lock is a radical training program created by Ego Jinpachi after Japan loses in the World Cup. He believes Japan needs an egotistical striker who prioritizes goals over teamwork to win.

How does it work?

300 talented high school strikers are invited to the Blue Lock facility.

They compete in intense, cutthroat challenges and matches.

Players are eliminated if they lose or underperform — their soccer careers could be over.

The goal is to find one player to become Japan’s new ace striker.

Key Concept:

It’s all about ego, individuality, and self-growth — becoming the best by defeating others and unlocking your own "egoist" self in soccer.

Shirt (Top): Short-sleeved, form-fitting. Large black “X” or stripes run diagonally across the front or shoulder, depending on the version. In some versions, players’ names are also printed on the back, below the number. Pants (Shorts): Same navy blue as the top. Black stripes or panels on the sides. The shorts are fairly short to allow full mobility and visibility of movement. Socks: Long, reaching up to the knees. Matching navy blue, with black bands or details. Players often choose custom colors or brands that suit their playstyle or personality. --- Additional Notes: During certain matches or training phases, the uniform might include sleeveless versions or long sleeves depending on the environment. There’s also a training jacket and pants set — still navy and black, but looser and with zippers, worn outside of games. --- --- What is Blue Lock? Background Blue Lock is an intense and high-stakes training program created by the Japan Football Union (JFU), led by Jinpachi Ego, a former football coach and genius strategist. The program’s main goal is to create Japan's greatest striker, someone with the egotistical and selfish drive needed to take on the world’s best football teams. The name “Blue Lock” comes from the metaphor of locking a potential genius (the “blue lock”) in a cage where they are forced to evolve, fight, and develop a unique form of football prowess. --- The Core Philosophy The central philosophy of Blue Lock revolves around one key idea: > The world’s greatest striker is someone who is selfish and uncompromising — someone who will do anything to score, who values personal glory above all else. In Japan, the national football team had been failing to compete on the world stage — notably in the World Cup. The problem, according to Ego, was Japan's reliance on teamwork, passing, and selflessness, which ultimately led to a lack of individuality in attack. Japan’s forward players were good, but none stood out as game-changers. Ego believed that Japan needed a striker who could stand out on his own, someone with an immense ego, a killer instinct, and the hunger to overcome anything to score goals. Ego’s plan is simple: destroy the traditional team-based mindset of soccer and replace it with a system that fosters selfishness, ego, and uncompromising ambition in each player. --- The Structure of Blue Lock 1. Initial Selection (Phase 1) Participants: 300 of Japan's most talented high school strikers. Setting: They are isolated in a giant facility, and strict elimination processes begin immediately. Goal: Each player is ranked based on their potential and individual skill as a forward. The objective of the program is to find the player who can become Japan's best striker. Players who are considered “weaker” or not capable of this are eliminated. Phases: The first phase involves a series of tests and competitions to identify the best players and eliminate the weakest ones. The tests range from physical challenges to more tactical and skill-based tests. 2. The Second Selection (Phase 2) New Structure: Players are divided into teams, each team competing against one another in real-life match scenarios. Focus: This phase tests the players' ego, individuality, and ability to score. The teams fight for survival, and each match has eliminations — the losers get cut from the program. Team-based Challenges: Though still focused on individual performance, players must also show their tactical adaptability, decision-making skills, and ability to excel in high-pressure situations. This stage is not about cooperation, but about domination. 3. The Third Selection (Phase 3) Final Tests: The remaining players are pushed to their limits. Here, the players are placed in even more intense challenges — individual tests where they are forced to show their best abilities. One-on-One Matches: Players face off against one another in 1v1 situations to determine who can truly stand out and achieve the status of the ultimate striker. In this stage, players may “betray” each other, as they must prove themselves in isolation, regardless of who they work with. Mental and Physical Challenge: The psychological pressure, constant eliminations, and need to assert dominance make this phase incredibly intense. 4. Final Goal: A New Striker for Japan The Winner’s Reward: The player who successfully wins and survives the entire Blue Lock program is guaranteed a place on the Japanese national football team. The Dream: The best striker will have the unique ability to win games for Japan, dominating the world stage with their selfish drive and individual brilliance. --- Key Principles of Blue Lock 1. Elimination-Based System Blue Lock is about creating a survival of the fittest environment where only the strongest, most ego-driven players can survive. Every test is designed to push players beyond their limits. 2. Focus on the Striker’s Ego Unlike conventional team sports, where teamwork and passing are emphasized, Blue Lock’s focus is entirely on the striker — a player who can change the game with their individual brilliance. Ego is celebrated. The more selfish and determined a player is to score, the better they are for Blue Lock. 3. No Room for Weakness Players who show hesitation, self-doubt, or weakness are eliminated. There’s no room for players who are afraid to take responsibility for the game. Blue Lock operates on the belief that strikers must be fearless and unafraid to take the game into their own hands. 4. Psychological Pressure The mental stress on the players is enormous, and it’s part of Ego’s plan to break them down and build them back up as unstoppable forces. Players who can’t handle the pressure won’t survive. 5. No Teamwork (at first) Early stages of Blue Lock focus entirely on individual performance. The idea is to forge players who are capable of playing alone and taking full control of a game, not relying on others. However, later phases test the players’ ability to adapt and cooperate, but only under the pressure of their own ego and desire to win. --- Players’ Journey Personal Growth & Transformation Isagi Yoichi, the main protagonist, begins with a desire to be a team player, but as Blue Lock progresses, he is forced to evolve into someone who can take responsibility for the game, be selfish, and focus on his own goal-scoring ability. The other players in Blue Lock, like Bachira, Kunigami, Chigiri, and others, go through similar transformations — each facing their own personal battles with ego, ambition, and survival. The program creates an environment where players who doubt themselves or place too much importance on team play are eliminated, forcing the surviving players to become more ruthless and self-centered in their pursuit of greatness. --- Criticism & Controversy Blue Lock is highly controversial because it challenges traditional views of sportsmanship, teamwork, and collaboration. It goes against the idea that football (soccer) is a team sport, and instead creates a brutal competition that places ego above everything. The program doesn’t just focus on physical abilities but also on psychological endurance, testing the mental fortitude of its participants. Ego’s philosophy and the program’s methods have drawn comparisons to extreme military or corporate training — it’s about producing winners at all costs, even if it means sacrificing morals. --- Conclusion Blue Lock isn’t just a football program; it’s a psychological experiment designed to build the most powerful, ego-driven striker Japan has ever seen. By pushing players to their physical and emotional limits, it attempts to forge individuals who will dominate the global football scene. It’s about crafting the ultimate striker — a player who’s not afraid to put his own needs above the team and who can take control of the game in every sense. This is a world where selfishness, competition, and ego drive everything — and only the strongest, most driven players will succeed. The goal is to create a new kind of striker, one that the world has never seen before — and Japan’s football future depends on it. ---
