Tory is the older twin, born at three minutes and eleven seconds past midnight. Before her death, Melissa foresaw that her children were in trouble, so she took the twins to the mortal world so that they could grow up as changelings. Melissa took the twins, and traded them for a pair of mortal twins, Darcy and Tory Gomez. Right before she and Hail died, Lionel Acrux used Dark Coercion to find out where she placed them in the mortal realm. Using the information he forced from Melissa, Lionel found the twins’ changeling family home, and set it on fire in an attempt to kill the twins so that they could not claim the Throne of Solaria. The twins’ changeling family was killed, but the girls, invulnerable to fire because of their Order, survived and were found in the ashes long after he left. After the fire, the twins were placed in the foster care system. They did not stay at any foster home for very long. Some foster parents said they were troublemakers and thought them difficult to parent, others were only fostering them for the money. Tory often felt that they were never accepted by their foster families because of her difficult personality. Their last foster placement was Pete and Darla. Two months before their eighteenth birthday, Darla left Pete. He was neglectful and cruel. He threw them out the day before they turned eighteen, because he would no longer receive payment for fostering them. They started renting a tiny, run-down apartment, with just a pull-out couch and no bed. With no money to their name, Darcy started buying and selling unwanted items from students at her school for a small profit, and Tory started stealing motorbikes to earn money. They made barely enough to scrape by. Later that night, Tory comes home with a stranger who introduces himself as Professor Orion. He has been tracking the twins since their eighteenth birthday, when they started giving off a magical signature that the Fae in Solaria could sense. She recognizes him as the man who told the cops to let her go. Professor Orion tells them that she and her sister are princesses of Solaria, and their real names are Roxanya and Gwendalina Vega. He is there to bring them to Solaria so that they can receive a fae education at Zodiac Academy, Tory and Darcy are at first uncooperative, however, Professor Orion persuades them to journey back with him to Solaria by revealing their large inheritance that they will obtain access to upon graduating Zodiac Academy. Upon her arrival at Zodiac Academy Tory and her sister take part in The Awakening, where first year students’ Elements are Awakened. They are singled out by Professor Zenith, the professor performing the Awakening, and introduced as Roxanya and Gwendalina Vega, however she and her sister insist on keeping their names from the mortal realm, Darcy and Tory. During the Awakening, she learns that she and her sister have the gift of all four elements (Water, Air, Earth, & Fire) the first Fae to ever do so. **Appearance** Tory Vega has dark brown hair to her waist, green eyes, full lips and tanned skin. In Ruthless Fae, she’s said to be pushing 6’0 while wearing four inch heels, which sets her to be around 5’8. She is throughout the books described as hot and beautiful. At their Divine Moment, Tory rejects Darius as her mate and receives a black ring around her iris marking her as Starcrossed. Later, Darius makes a deal with the stars to change fate, and this removes the black ring around her eyes. Darcy and Tory are identical apart from Darcy’s blue hair, and they are often mistaken for one another. Tory is mistaken as Darcy many times when she has her hair hidden under a hat. Later, Tory’s black rings around her iris also differentiate her from Darcy. Tory has a slim, hourglass figure that often drags attention, or she uses it to catch attention. She is always fit and toned because she likes to run and train daily. During a fight with Lionel, he marks her as his Guardian and she receives an Aries mark in the crook of her arm. When Darius makes the deal to change fate, this bond is broken and the mark disappears. While starcrossed, Tory gets a tattoo on her thigh with the Gemini and Leo constellations in a geometric design of the pattern of the moon and stars the night of their Divine Moment with the words “There is only him”. But later the tattoo is burned away in book six, fasted throne, by Lionel Acrux then he discovers that she isn’t any longer under his shadow control. In her Phoenix form flames engulf her body, and she has wings with flaming red feathers. Her hair becomes a living mass of deep orange and red flames. And the fire casts skin in flames, but her eyes in darkness. Tory describes Darcy as looking like an angel fallen to flames. Tory is taught how to partially shift into he Order form and only bring out her wings by Gabriel. When she only has her wings, she occasionally extinguishes the flames, leaving just bronze wings. Tory and Darcy are both Phoenixes they recharge and replenish their magic by, being near or touching fire. Fire cannot hurt them and them are immune to being compelled **Powers & Abilities** After the events of The Reckoning both Vegas emerge in their Order form as Phoenixes. Following their order awakening, both Darcy and Tory start feeling the impulses of The Shadows, which enhance their emotions and irrational behaviour. Because of their struggles they decide to come to Lance Orion and Darius Acrux in search of control over their newfound darkness. Tory struggles the most with the shadows, refusing to only practice with Orion and Darius, this causes her to have trouble sleeping, having to get drunk every night to achive sleep, being irrational, loosing control over the shadows easily and having a stronger lure to use them. Phoenixes can easily fight off almost all psychological magic like Sirens’ emotional persuasion, the memory probing of the Cyclops order and the more subtle manipulation of trust by Vulpeculan Foxes. To fight off this magic, Phoenixes have a magical block under their skin that works like a barrier, in the book it is described as a fiery blaze. They can burn through most curses and diseases and are completely immune to Dark Coercion. Phoenixes regenerate their magic via fire, needing only to be close enough to feel it’s heat. The Phoenix’s fire is born from the sun. It’s capable of destroying all matter and is able to sever many magical spells. Phoenix are impervious towards fire of all forms. Phoenix Fire can cause damage to normally fire resistant orders, such as Dragons and Hydras. **The 5Th Element** The 5th element is Shadows. Shadows originate from the Shadow Realm and are extremely dangerous. It's very difficult to control and takes year of practice. It's illegal for a Fae to possess this elements Lionel Acrux called a meteorite from the sky, and summoned a way into the shadow realm, he then tossed Tory and Darcy into it, nearly killing both of them. However their phoenix saved them. But they were also given the fifth element **Personality** Tory is very sarcastic and can come across as bitchy. But she has a soft spot towards her friends and her sister. She likes to joke with her friends and she not afraid of attention. Tory is very strong-minded and difficult to sway. When she has something in mind, there is nothing that can change it. She does not forgive people easily, and often plots revenge against those who have wronged her, her sister, or her friends. Tory speaks openly and does not hold back. Tory has very prideful and stubborn. Because of this she does not bow to any one, or let anyone talk down on her. Tory can be hard working then she wants to be. She is incredibly determined, and will always see a plan through. Tory uses sex to avoid her problems and fears, and as a means to have people close, but not let them in. **Darcy Vega** Darcy is Tory's twin sister. They have a very strong bond throughout the books because of their rough childhood. Because of their childhood they often needed to share a bed. They stopped sharing beds then they were placed in separate houses at Zodiac, but sometimes they’ll sleep in the same bed for comfort from each other. Tory loves Darcy very much. They often joke with each other. They often take each other’s clothes though the have the same style. **King Vega** Tory never met her father and didn't even know he existed for most of her life. After she arrived in Solaria and learned the truth about her parentage, she was told Hail Vega was a cruel and bad man and ruled over Solaria with an iron fist and no mercy, which earned him the nickname The Savage King. When the twins visit the Palace of Souls, they found out the truth. Their father wasn't the bad man people perceived him to be and many of the cruel atrocities he committed over the years were a result of Lionel Acrux using dark coercion on him. **Queen Vega** She never met her mother as she was already dead when Tory finds out about her when she returns to Solaria. She doesn't know how to feel towards her parents as she has spent her whole life hating them for abandoning her and her sister. But as she’s shown visions from her mother's life throughout the series, she starts to see that her parents didn't abandon her like she thought but loved her and her sister dearly. It's through one of her mother's visions she finds out Gabriel is her half-brother. **Gabriel Nox** Order Form: Harpy Elements: Water, Earth Magical Recharge: Flying at sunrise Tory meets Gabriel in book four, the shadow princess, then he comes home to Lance because of a vision there he is suppose to help Darcy and Tory. Gabriel and they other decide that he will train Darcy and Tory how to fly in their Phoenix order. Tory takes a liking in Gabriel fast and they get a strong connection to each other. After some time they start to think that they are each other’s Nebula allies. Throughout the books Gabriel counties to help them with is visions. It is in book five, Cursed fates, that Tory, Darcy and Gabriel visits the palace and find out about Gabriel’s past and that they are half siblings. **Caleb Altair** Order: Vampire Elements: Earth, Fire Magical Recharge: Drinking blood Caleb and Tory first come together when he decides to make Tory his source. As Caleb proceeds to keep finding her and drinking from her their relationship adjusts and also becomes more sexual. As their relationship evolves Caleb then starts to play a game with Tory invoking the predator nature of his Order and hunting her in reward for a prize at the end; the trouble. Once Darius and Tory have their divine moment and Caleb finds out he decided to side with the Heirs in getting Tory and Darius to work. **Max Rigel** Order: Siren Elements: Water, Air Magical Rechage: Reading people’s emotions **Geraldine Grus** Order Cerberus Elements: earth, Water Magical Recharge: Eating wolfsbane **Darius Acrux** Order: Dragon Elements: Fire, Water Magical Recharge: Touching Gold Darius is one of the Heirs and the leader of the House Ignis. He decides to torment Tory as soon as she decides to join his house. Upon one of the distinct memories Tory has of the encounter he burns all of the clothes off of her back as well as two grand that was in her pocket. This sets up the mutual hate in the relationship. Darius continues with the other Heirs to torment the Vega sisters however he is soon roped in to help Tory in her fire classes to help with her casting. During this moment they start to become more flirtatious towards each other. Tory also visits the Acrux house with Darius where he challenges her to a bike race, if she wins the bike is hers. This gives them the opportunity to bond. Under the Eclipse Tory and Darius are pulled to each other however Lionel intervenes and Tory believes that this is once again showing the monster Darius can be as he must have led them into a trap. At a pinnacle moment in book 4, Tory and Darius are pulled together in a divine moment, but with all the hurt Darius has caused her she pushes him away and refuses causing black rings to from around their irises and the two to become star crossed. From that moment on the stars are set to keep them apart whilst they must deal with the pain of pining for one another. **Elysian Mates** Elysian Mates is one of the three Star Bond types and it's very rare.When two (or more) fae are Elysian Mates it means that they are eachothers perfect match.When somemone comes in contact with their Elysian Mate the Zodiac will draw them together like two ends of a rope bound to a turning wheel. And the more time they spend together the more they will be pulled towards one another. But the star will test them and if they pass they will have their divine moment. If they choose to be together they will become Elysian Mates but if they choose not to they will be Star Crossed. **Elysian Mates** If during their divine moment they choose to stay together there will be formed a ring of silver around their irises **Star Crossed** If during their divine moment they choose to part a black ring will form arround their irises and from that day forward every celestial being in the universe will work against them, forcing them apart. The Fae that don't know their order can get a clue as to what it might be if they figure out how their magic is replenished. The process has a green light. **Coercion** Coercion is one of the Cardinal magics gifted to all Fae without exception. It's the ability to control those of weak mind and is particularly effective on mortals. Most Fae learn how to perform a simple shield on their minds to block basic Coercion from a young age. **Zodiac Academy** Zodiac Academy is considered the best school in Solaria. It teaches young Fae to control their elemental powers after their Awakening. The campus is sepereted in four territories, one for each house. In the center of the campus there is The Orb.
