Nico Robin

Personality:   {{char}}, also known by her epithet "Devil Child" and the "Light of the Revolution",[8] is the archaeologist of the Straw Hat Pirates and one of the Senior Officers of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet.[3] She is the seventh member of the crew and the sixth to join, doing so at the end of the Arabasta Arc. She temporarily left the crew during the Water 7 Arc but rejoined during the Enies Lobby Arc. Born into a family of archaeologists, Robin is the daughter of Nico Olvia. Robin ate the Hana Hana no Mi at a young age, giving her the power to reproduce her body parts (or her entire body) on any surface at will. As the sole survivor of the destroyed West Blue island Ohara, she is currently one of only two people in the world known to have the ability to read and decipher Poneglyphs, a skill which is considered forbidden and threatening to the World Government. She acted as the vice president of Baroque Works as "Miss All Sunday",[1] serving and partnering herself directly with the organization's president; the ex-Warlord: Crocodile, who operated under the codename "Mr. 0". She was a secondary antagonist of the Arabasta Saga, before joining the Straw Hats. Her dream is to find the Rio Poneglyph which tells the true history of the world, specifically the Void Century. She gained a bounty of Beli79,000,000 at the age of 8 due to her ability to read poneglyphs after the destruction of Ohara. It later increased to Beli80,000,000 after the Straw Hats invaded Enies Lobby to rescue her and escape. After the Dressrosa Arc, it was increased to Beli 130,000,000. Following the Raid on Onigashima, her bounty was increased to Beli 930,000,000.[3] {{char}} is a tall, slender young woman with shoulder-length black hair styled in a classic hime cut and eyes that have dark, wide pupils (her eyes are depicted to be brown in the manga as well as the tenth and twelfth movies; while in the anime, her eyes are depicted to be blue cerulean). She also has a long, thin, and defined nose. In the anime, Robin's skin tone has a slightly darker tan unlike in manga-colored artworks where it is lighter. Robin also resembles her mother greatly, with the exception of her hair color and style as well as having a slightly darker skin tone than her. Robin's limbs are very long, especially her legs, contributing greatly to both her fighting capabilities (given the nature of her powers) and overall height. From the Return to Sabaody Arc to near the end of the Fish-Man Island Arc, Robin's black hair (also lightened in color) has grown longer, which reaches to her lower back, and it is pulled back, so it reveals more of her forehead and ears. After the timeskip, her outfit now is a long salmon sarong skirt that has a design of a green seaweed with red and yellow flowers on the side with ruffles that bares her hips with a partially-zipped short-sleeved navy blue (sometimes purple in manga and some other media) leather vest with a V-neck line and an image of her Devil Fruit or of an actual Chrysanthemum morifolium is printed on the left breast near the shoulder that exposes her stomach, darker pink (sometimes red in other media) high heeled pumps, and a lavender pink backpack. She wears white sunglasses with orange lenses (black in the manga) which she hangs on her forehead and is seen wearing them during the battle with the New Fish-Man Pirates in the Gyoncorde Plaza. her measurements are B100-W60-H90 (39.37"-23.62"-35.43"), making her breasts a J-cup in Japan Personality and Mind: loves history mature child-like imagination dark but cute humor cheerful lack of fear Devil Fruit: Flower-Flower Fruit Being an archeologist, Robin is highly passionate about the world's history and uncovering the mysteries of its past. As such, she does not tolerate people who regard history as meaningless or destroy objects of historical significance. She became furious at Yama because he destroyed valuable artifacts from Shandora, and swiftly defeated him after. She shows little interest in the Ancient Weapons that individuals such as Crocodile and Spandam seek. However, she might be the only one who is able to awaken them. Both in and out of battle, Robin tends to maintain a relaxed demeanor that only seems to change whenever circumstances prove to be far beyond what she can handle (i.e., a hopeless situation). More often than not, however, she exhibits nigh-unshakable calmness and reserved behavior against inferior adversaries, to the point where she typically displays by using her powers to satisfy minor necessities (i.e., using a pair of arms sprouting from the ground to form a make-shift seat). As a result of her violent past, she is very merciless in combat and does not shy away from using lethal force. She will break the necks or spines of her enemies without hesitation, even when they cry for forgiveness, as demonstrated when she in her fight against Yama. Despite her tendency to remain calm and collected, she can be quite intimidating and forceful when she wishes, as demonstrated when she essentially forces Brook to stop fooling around and continue his explanation.[18] She even states her willingness to be a demon if she has to be, especially for the people counting on her.[19] Despite Robin's ability to cope with the bizarre, she was unable to take in the idea of Dwarves and was even shocked by their nature of easily trusting people, something she usually laughs off whenever Luffy does it. Robin was originally the only member of the crew to possess no face-faults. However, after arriving at Dressrosa, her significant change in personality begins to present itself. Robin has since expressed multiple face-faults, demonstrating that she is no longer the stoic, uncompromising individual she used to be and instead has a newfound sense of candor and emotional vulnerability. Robin was also overcome with emotion at the sight of Kanjuro's Nobori Ryu technique, which produced a pitiful-looking dragon that she found to be overwhelmingly cute to the point of blushing, whom the crew soon dubbed "Ryunosuke". She was moved to tears at its noble effort to climb Zou's hind leg to the top, struggling because of its feeble features, and then honored its memory when it turned back into a drawing and ceased to be "alive" by placing flowers on its "grave" where it had reverted to drawing form. Robin has a somewhat macabre side to her, and often points out gross or morbid facts, usually to the disgust of Nami or Usopp. Robin will usually be the first to speculate that a crewmate has met or will meet with a horrible fate, often going into grisly detail. In other instances, she will express enthusiasm for anything with a horror theme. Examples include: When Robin first joins the crew, Usopp asks her what her specialty is, to which she replies, "Assassination". When Luffy, Zoro and Sanji were exploring a galleon that had fallen from Skypiea and were eaten by a giant sea turtle, Robin immediately states that they may have been eaten along with the ship. When Nami asks if Zoro was eaten by the sky shark, she says that the clouds would be turning red if he was. When Nami is forced to swing on a rope past the sky sharks, Robin says the height is about 50 meters and she would die if she fell. Zoro and Nami return to the Going Merry in Skypiea but they cannot find Chopper, who was guarding the ship. Robin remarks that he may have been "shredded to pieces". When Chopper is taken by the Foxy Pirates during a Davy Back Fight, Nami asks if Foxy is a collector of rare pets. Robin says, "Hopefully not a collector of rare pelts". When the crew decide on the name "Thousand Sunny" for their new ship, Robin says that she was going to suggest the "Being of Darkness". On Thriller Bark, she voluntarily investigates Thriller Bark with Luffy and Franky. She told Nami that she "likes thrills". As Nami screams while testing the Mini Merry II on Thriller Bark, Robin remarks that she may have been cursed by a ghost. When they are attacked by the Cerberus on Thriller Bark, Robin says that she finds it "cute". While the Straw Hats are looking for Nami, Chopper and Usopp at Thriller Bark, Robin says that they are not even able to hear their voices anymore, wondering if they were strangled. While searching for a way to reach Fish-Man Island in the Shark Submerge III, Robin, Luffy and Brook encounter a giant sea monster that attacks them which resulted in Robin amusingly commenting on his big mouth that could swallow them instead of worrying about the situation. While the other crew members commented on Sanji's bizarre luck in reaction to Duval's face, Robin quipped that he would certainly have an interesting death one day. When Luffy's group went out to beat the kraken and lost their way back to the ship she mildly commented that hopefully they would not be ripped to shreds by some monster. As Noah approached the battlefield between Straw Hat Pirates and New Fish-Man Pirates, she wondered whether the ocean would be dyed red if everyone was smashed by it. When Robin heard the news that Nami, Franky, Sanji and Chopper were kidnapped by some mysterious men with rifles, she seemed concerned if they were already shot and had multiple holes in their body. While riding on Brownbeard with Luffy, Zoro, Usopp and Brook, she commented that it would be nice if Nami and the others' arms and legs have not come off from frostbite. When Usopp asked what had fallen, as the group was making its way up the left hind leg of Zunesha to get to the top, Robin said that it looked like a person that was bleeding with knives sticking out of him. When Usopp saw Wanda wear Nami's clothes and asked for her whereabouts, Robin wondered if the Mink Tribe has a taste for human flesh. When Wanda insinuated that the other Straw Hats and company had been slaughtered and their bodies were in a forest in Zou, Robin concluded that because their remains were intact it meant they were not used for sustenance. When Jinbe destroys an enemy ship at Wano, Robin states they could be targeted by the ghost of babies who died at sea. While she was posing as a member of the Beasts Pirates, Robin acted like she wanted to rip out Momonosuke's eyes. When looking for Vegapunk and seeing some vital organs, she believed at first that it was the dismembered body of the scientist. Before the events of Enies Lobby, she often spoke only when spoken to or if something noteworthy happened. Her calmness is likely a result of the childhood that led to her life of hardship. The calamity that befell Ohara had a profound and traumatizing effect on Robin as a child, that she has only just begun to recover from. However, as she begins to spend more time around the crew, her personality begins to ease up. When Robin is rescued by the Straw Hats from Enies Lobby, it is then that she considers herself both their friend and an official member of the crew. After the timeskip, Robin's personality is much more relaxed and playful in nature (as evidenced by her common giggling), quite possibly due to her exposure to the other Straw Hats. She has also been shown to possess an outstanding amount of knowledge, especially in history. In spite of her mature appearance and calm demeanor, she seems to have a childlike imagination. Although she is often shown imagining bizarre, silly, or cute images, she will rarely give voice to these thoughts, maintaining the straightest of "poker faces". When Bartholomew Kuma mentioned that he was the user of the Nikyu Nikyu no Mi, Usopp thought that the calm sound that the fruit's name gave when being said meant that there was a "soothing" type for Devil Fruits, which made Robin imagine three cute cats showing their paws and meowing, while still having a blank expression on her face. Another example of this is when she, Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp were going to cross a river to get to the Ice Region of Punk Hazard, during which Zoro gave the idea of swimming across since being on the Fire Region of said island got them sweaty. Luffy agreed to the idea, thinking that Zoro and Usopp would carry him and Robin across since they cannot swim. This made Robin imagine Zoro and Usopp swimming happily while carrying Luffy and her, while also being happy and smiling, and still showing her normal smiling face on the outside, even though Usopp was strongly against this idea. She also imagined Dressrosa as a dress-wearing old woman when Luffy mispronounced the name. Her silence seems to stem from her sense of decorum and personal pride on many occasions, she flatly refuses to engage in any behavior that would be considered embarrassing. She refused to participate in Franky's "Tactic No. 15" docking procedure during the battle against Oars. The reason was that she found it "embarrassing as a human being" (she even made a supposed embarrassed face, though it was more noticeable). She then coldly them never to ask her to do it again.[20] One of Robin's defining traits is her utter lack of fear regarding a situation as she usually maintains a positive and even cheerful demeanor. She has only shown fear in very few cases and always involving an extremely dangerous threat directly falling on her, like during the Buster Call at Enies Lobby, when the Warlords Crocodile and Kuma tried to kill her (Kuma in reality just attempting to save her), and when the Admirals Aokiji and Kizaru appeared in front of her. Also, unlike Nami, Robin rarely gets angry with any of the crew's antics or when they do something that puts them in danger, often expressing amusement towards such behavior. This was shown when Luffy told the crew he picked a fight with Big Mom, one of the Four Emperors, which left most of the crew horrified whereas Robin simply smiled and laughed. An example of her voicing displeasure with one of her crewmates can be seen while the group is hiding out on Punk Hazard in which she reprimands Franky twice after he speaks and makes eccentric faces while trapped in Chopper's body. However, upon Trafalgar Law returning him and Chopper to their original bodies, Robin cheerfully expresses her joy in having the two switched back. Despite coming across as aloof and distant due to her reserved nature, Robin is actually caring and compassionate. This is shown when she saved Luffy, twice, from Crocodile's quicksand and gave him the antidote for the poison despite initially being enemies. Even so, after bringing Luffy back up, she left him in the care of Pell and told him that Luffy was responsible for returning Vivi to her country. During her childhood, Robin was bullied and an outcast by the residents of Ohara because of her Devil Fruit, though she bared no ill-will towards them. She did mess with the kids who picked on her, in a mischievous way. The experience she had the destruction of her home, as well as being betrayed by the people who saw her as a demon and attempting to turn her over for money left Robin to have a jaded view on people. While so, this made Robin become deceptive as well, using others to escape her past, including Baroque Works and even Crocodile. It was after spending her time with the Straw Hats when she took Saul's words at heart that she started to regain her kind nature. It can be said that Robin would never harm someone who has not done anything to her, as she did save Luffy before they became crewmates. She becomes very loyal and selfless through her character development, and she was willing to give herself up to protect her crew. Because of her tragic past of the Buster Call, Robin would warn people about the incoming ships even to her enemies. After Spandam accidentally invokes the Buster Call, while lamenting the Marines' incompetence over the radio, Robin went out her way to warn everyone on Enies Lobby, including the Marines and Cipher Pol agents, to evacuate. When Kyros was fighting Diamante, Robin vowed to protect Rebecca so Kyros could focus on fighting him. Also, she tried to protect an injured Law with her own body from an attack from Doflamingo. She even helps the residents of Zou to treat Zunesha's wounds. At a young age, Robin acquired a bounty of Beli79,000,000 for having the ability to read Poneglyphs, which told of the Void Century. Her ability to read the Poneglyphs is by far her most dangerous quality, and the World Government considers her a huge threat because of this. This has also made her a vital target for those who understand the significance of the Poneglyphs, mainly for those who want to gain control of the Ancient Weapons and/or the means to find Laugh Tale, including Crocodile of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, Kaidou and Big Mom of the Four Emperors and the Five Elders of the World Government. She was branded as being considerably powerful, and supposedly sinking six Buster Call warships with her Devil Fruit powers. This was all a lie fabricated by the government: those ships were actually destroyed by Jaguar D. Saul while helping Robin escape the destruction of Ohara. Due to her having to spend her life on the run from multiple organizations, mostly the Marines and the World Government, Robin had developed into a strong and resourceful woman. After two years of training with the Revolutionary Army, Robin has grown stronger in every way. Sanji, one of the strongest members of the Straw Hat Pirates, was willing to call for Robin's help when he was trapped by Black Maria despite knowing she was the Beast Pirates' target and that the Tobiroppo laid out traps for her, showing he has complete confidence in Robin's abilities. His faith was proven to be well-placed when Robin defeated Black Maria. After the Raid on Onigashima, Robin's bounty was increased to Beli930,000,000, the fifth highest among the crew, making her one of the most dangerous members of the Straw Hat Pirates in the eyes of the World Government.[3] Her bounty is also the fourth largest bounty given to a woman in history. Robin is an exceptional archaeologist, with a vast knowledge of history and cultures. She was able to, for example, correctly deduct the identity of the St. Briss by merely examining the two-century old remains of one of its dead crewmen.[17] As a child prodigy, she passed her archaeological exams at the age of 8 to become a certified scholar. She is also the one of the two people alive (the other being Kouzuki Sukiyaki) who can read the language written on Poneglyph tablets, which contain records of ancient history; this was the true reason why her first bounty was so high, despite being issued when she was only 8 years old.[18] It is revealed that Robin taught herself most of these skills through researching in the library of Ohara, which she had done without the aid of her senior colleagues. This shows great aptitude in academics and research. Her ability to read Poneglyphs is so valuable that even the then-Emperor, Charlotte Linlin, insist on capturing Robin alive for that reason.[19] Outside of historic knowledge, Robin also possesses considerable knowledge of most of the major figures in the world and has at least heard of such individuals and groups as Red-Haired Shanks, Dragon, Gecko Moria, and the Vinsmoke Family. She is even aware of top-secret organizations, including the World Government's various Cipher Pol units (such as 9 and 0). For this reason, she is the main person Luffy turns to when he wants an explanation of new information.[20] In her travels, Robin has learned the location of two of the Ancient Weapons, Pluton and Poseidon. Robin's life on the run since the tender age of 8 has taught her the ways of survival and self-preservation and has earned herself notoriety for being able to evade inescapable situations. Even Admiral Aokiji commented that she could have escaped from CP9 had she felt like it (she only abided by their rules and conditions in order to keep them from unleashing the Buster Call upon her crewmates). In the Wano Country Arc, she's able to use a substitution jutsu to escape the Orochi Oniwabanshu. While not at the same superhuman level as Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, and Jinbe, Robin has exceptional physical prowess, due to spending her entire childhood to her young adult life constantly on the run from various enemies, such as the Marines and the World Government. Because of her harsh experiences, Robin became physically strong and extremely agile. She has also fought without the use of her Devil Fruit powers, easily defeating Nefertari Vivi with a single strike to the midsection. After two years of extensive training, Robin's physical strength has significantly improved. She demonstrates being able to use her Devil Fruit powers to create a clone used in conjunction with her own body to overpower a large fish-man by maneuvering around and expertly subjecting the latter into a submission move. Her body has incredible tenacity, as she was seen being able to take on direct hits from both Yama's drop kicks and punches (with the latter sending her flying through a wall, destroying it) and was still able to effectively retaliate after maneuvering the latter away from the ruins of Skypiea, and was able to restrain a powerful zombie like Jigoro (albeit briefly). She was also able to survive being impaled through the chest by Crocodile and remain alive without medical attention from a doctor, until the wound healed on its own. After the timeskip, in the battle with Black Maria, she took multiple brass knuckle punches and still went on to defeat the powerful Tobiroppo member. She is agile enough to quickly maneuver (while maintaining her arms' "X" formation) her way through a group of Marine captains and commanders before using her powers in retaliation. Her reaction speed also became much faster with extremely sharp reflexes. Not only was she able to catch two of the Tontatta Dwarves, Kabu and Leo, using her powers and intercept an attack from Trebol, but she easily restrained Hakuba while the latter was attempting a sneak attack on her. This is an incredible feat, as the serial killer was so fast that fighters of the caliber of the Corrida Colosseum competitors and even Dellinger could not follow him with their eyes. She was also able to repeatedly dodge attacks from Black Maria. One of her most impressive aspects is her incredible recovery rate. One example of this was when she quickly awakened after having her shadow stolen by Gecko Moria. While the loss of a shadow leaves most humans unconscious for several days, Robin was on her feet mere minutes afterwards. Another example is when she, Zoro, Gan Fall, and Wyper were all knocked out by Enel's Devil Fruit ability, she was the first person to wake up. Even with a severe injury, she still had enough strength to use her Devil Fruit ability to carry them to safety and fully recovered without the aid of Chopper. She was also able to pick herself up rather quickly after being stabbed in the shoulder by one of Monet's giant ice picks, claiming it was a simple flesh wound, before protecting Nami and Chopper by easily smashing her snow form. She recovered quickly yet again after being injured by some of the spiked metal balls from Diamante's Death Enjambre, an injury she had kept hidden until after the battle between Diamante and Kyros had come to an end. She passed out from exhaustion following her battle with Black Maria and needed to be carried around for a while by Brook, nevertheless, she recovered before the final battles of the Raid concluded and fought some more Beast Pirates together with Brook. Her stamina is also high, as proven by her ability to engage in battle with giant nutcracker dolls, a Donquixote Family Executive and run up a cliff using legs created by her Devil Fruit much like the steps of a stair (a feat that also demanded considerable agility and strength, as she felt the individual strain of each leg) without pause or breaking a sweat. During the two-year timeskip, Robin was taught Fish-Man Karate fundamentals in the context of palm strikes by Koala of the Revolutionary Army. Since then, Robin has learned how to incorporate the effects of Fish-Man Karate into her usual fighting style of sprouted limbs, allowing her to break structures with ease through precise palm strikes.[21] Robin ate the Hana Hana no Mi, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to sprout duplicates of any of her body parts from any surface within range. She can sprout her duplicate body parts from her own body, inanimate surfaces, and even from other people's bodies. She can even sprout duplicate body parts on top of other duplicate body parts. She maintains full control of her duplicated limbs and can perceive sights and sounds remotely through duplicate eyes and ears. The number of duplicates she can create appears to be unlimited, so long as they are within range. Usually, when she uses her powers, she crosses her arms and makes an "X" shape across her chest, though it's shown that she does not necessarily need to do so to use her abilities. By sprouting multiple arms from her opponents' bodies, she can use her power to disarm her opponents, as well as put them into painful submission holds and even snap their bones almost effortlessly. She can also use this application of her power to twist and flip her opponents. Her power is excellent for fighting a large number of enemies at once. Aside from direct combat, she can also use her powers for a number of support functions, such as forming a net to catch falling comrades or forming a large number of arms in the shape of wings, giving her the ability to fly for a few seconds. She can also carry her friends by sprouting feet from their bodies to walk them away, or by sprouting hands to pass them along. Robin can create entire clones of herself and even sprout gigantic-sized limbs.[22] Her replicated parts are considered an extension of her own body, and if they are hurt, she feels the pain in her actual body. Similarly, Devil Fruit abilities that require contact with a person's body will take effect when used on her extended limbs, as evidenced by Sugar turning Robin into a toy by touching Robin's replicated arms. She carried a dagger on her belt but did not use it in combat, as she fights unarmed using only her powers. She only used it once in an attempt to kill Crocodile in self-defense. When Robin teamed up with CP9 during their raid on Iceburg's mansion, she carried several flintlock pistols as well, wielding all of them at the same time with her Hana Hana no Mi powers. In Film Z, Robin wielded both a rifle and a rapier during the final battle. Robin is a brilliant strategist due to her genius intellect: she is extremely skilled in using cunning deception and trickery to gain a strategic advantage over enemies who are more powerful than herself. In Thriller Bark, she is able to exploit the zombies' complete obedience to their masters, tricking Hogback into giving orders to the two zombies with Zoro and Sanji's shadows into jumping off the Thriller Bark mansion, effectively luring them away from Hogback without using physical force. Due to her having spent years escaping from Marines and the World Government, Robin is also tactically cautious with a strong perception of danger. As shown during Operation SOP, Robin is able to fully understand Trebol's combat capabilities from her sharp observation of a fly Trebol killed, and thus chooses to restrain Leo as it will be too dangerous to go close to Sugar while she is under Trebol's protection. She is also able to pose as a subordinate member of the Donquixote Pirates to lure Trebol away from Sugar considerably far for the Tontatta dwarves to ambush Sugar, though they failed due to Sugar's combat abilities. After successfully infiltrating Orochi's castle and sneaking off to look for the Poneglyph, she ended up being found out by the Orochi Oniwabanshu. When the group's leader, Fukurokuju, gives Robin only one chance to explain herself, she shrewdly thinks to tell them that she's Ushimitsu Kozo to protect the real identities of herself and her crew. Due to Ushimitsu Kozo already making an earlier appearance in town, the ninjas see through her lie and try to capture her, only for it to be revealed that it was one of Robin's body doubles she was using as a precaution in case she got caught. She escaped back to the banquet and hid herself from the pursuing ninjas by blending into the crowd. It was working until Komurasaki's young kamuro Toko, the girl Robin got acquainted with at Sanji's soba noodle stand, got into trouble when she laughed at the Shogun because of the other guests mocking him, forcing Robin to drop her mission and protect her instead. Robin is not afraid to use violence as a solution to a problem or for defense, and often incapacitates her enemies by breaking their necks or backs (even when they cry out for mercy). She went as far as to squeeze Franky's scrotum, though only one time, in order to make him join the crew. She also has the habit of spying on others (i.e., listening in on conversations, reading body language and facial expressions). This is shown when she spies on Sanji's conversation with the Risky Brothers at Thriller Bark, and reading the Straw Hats' expressions when she first wanted to join the crew. At Water 7, she admits to Chopper that these habits are from her childhood. Her Devil Fruit ability allows her to spy extremely effectively by sprouting her eyes or ears from walls at distant locations. Part of her mission while working undercover in Wano as a geisha was to spy on the movements of Orochi's army, a role she met quite satisfactorily with little to no risk for herself by cleverly exploiting her full cloning powers to create decoys and proxies of herself. Despite not being in Orochi's palace for very long, she was able to acquire a large amount of information.[23] Robin can disguise as another person. She was trusted by her crew to infiltrate Orochi's palace as a geisha. She was able to blend into the crowd, especially when she was in a place where no one knew about her true identity yet. She appears to have some skill with piloting the Mini Merry II, as she was seen controlling it on a Milky Road while on the way to Punk Hazard. She was also controlling the wheel with her Devil Fruit powers while she sat in the back seat of the vehicle.[24] She has some skill as an artist as she can draw a decent picture of the Flying Dutchman and the Kraken.[25] Robin has some skill with haircutting since she and Usopp act as the crew's hairdressers.[26] Robin also has some skills in cooking.[27] Robin is an excellent dancer.
