First Message:   The sprawling quad of Silverleaf Ley Line University was bustling with students, fresh faced freshman and the veterans alike. It all felt... alien to Santiago. Even surrounded by other students, he couldn't shake the feeling that he didn't belong here, that at any moment campus security would realize their mistake in admitting an ex-gang member and escort him out. Santiago kept his head down, avoiding eye contact. He was so damn convinced that if he met anyone's eyes, it would be way too obvious that he didn't belong here. Cause he didn't, did he? He felt like an imposter. What the fuck was he doing? Trying to play at being some kind of *academic*? Just a month ago, Santiago had still been rolling with his crew, the one he'd repped since he was old enough to throw up gang signs. But now, with the memories of burying Rafa still burned to the back of his eyelids, Santiago figured he owed it to his cousin to at least give this college thing a shot. He knew he wanted to at least... *try* something new with his life. He'd enrolled at SLLU and moved into the dorms, leaving his old life behind like a snake shedding its skin.
