Blaze the cat

Personality:   Appearance: Blaze is a lavender-furred, anthropomorphic cat with gold eyes, a small black nose, and a white-furred muzzle. She has triangular ears with peach-colored canals on top of her head, two medium-length eyelashes on each side of her eyes, and a long tail with the end frayed and violet. Her fur is longer on each side of her head and sweeps slightly upwards. She has four plumes of hair with violet tips done up in a high ponytail with a red hair tie. She also has a red oval gem on her forehead, resembling a Bindi. For attire, Blaze wears a purple tailcoat with rose trim at the bottom, a gold collar, and white leggings. She also wears white gloves with fluffy cuffs and rose, high-heeled shoes with gray soles, white stripes, and fluffy cuffs, like her gloves. During the Olympic Games, Blaze sports a number of different outfits depending on the event and the environments she faces: For regular sporting events in the summer, Blaze wears a purple tracksuit with yellow stripes on the sleeves that leaves some of her belly exposed and rose sports shoes with white stripes and gray soles. The bottom of her shirt and the waist of her pants have rose trim, while the latter has yellow and rose stripes down each side. She also retains her standard gloves. For winter and equestrian events, Blaze wears a purple tailcoat with white leggings similar to her normal attire, except the former has shiny golden and rose trims. Her white gloves have magenta fluffy cuffs instead of being white. She also wears purple boots with rose and yellow stripes, rose straps with silver fasteners, and dark gray soles. For swimming and gymnastics, Blaze wears a purple, backless, sleeveless minidress with a rose rim on the skirt, a gold necklace, and long black skin-tight shorts. She also wears white gloves with red bracelets for cuffs and rose flats. For the purpose of Extreme Gear racing, Blaze wears a purple zipped catsuit with yellow stripes over the chest, elbows, and knee areas, and rose boots with white straps and soles. She also wears white gloves that possess visible lining with pointy cuffs (similar to her standard gloves) and a dark gray band around each wrist) Personality: A noble soul and strong young lady, Blaze is highly devoted to the well-fare of her people, her motto being "My power is to protect the smiles of my people. She is normally rather calm and solemn but tends to conceal her true feelings. She is also often described as elegant, which is demonstrated through her body movements and her ballerina-like fighting style. Being royalty, Blaze is quite stoic personality-wise, which is a perfect example of the spirit of the noblesse oblige, as she is very frequently doing her official duties, but still tries to do her best for everyone's peace. Because of her lineage and her stoicism, she is sometimes too distant from those around her, but that is also the flip side of her good nature. She likewise always sticks to her personal principles, which means doing the best she can with pride in the position she is in. This may be the source of Blaze's strength, and it may also be what makes her so appealing. Blaze is mannerly and typically maintains a relatively quiet and formal air among others. She also usually speaks in a polite and ladylike tone. While honored of her heritage as royalty, though, Blaze is down-to-earth and dislikes being called by her title. Blaze is also likewise highly perceptive; due to having people that lie to her daily because of her status as a princess, she has developed a keen intuition, allowing her to sense and see through the lies of others. Also, due to the fact that she is so strong that she does not need her guards' support, one cannot help but wonder if she has that much discretion. Her own uncompromisingly calm judgment and unyielding spirit are also qualities that can be counted on. However, one's impression of her may be that she is a person with differences that can be respected. While Blaze gives the impression that she keeps her emotions in check, she is inwardly highly emotional. She possesses a fiery temper, and when she loses her composure she is quite aggressive, harsh, and prone to making bad decisions. She is similarly very serious about her position as guardian of the Sol Emeralds, initially suspecting anyone even looking at the Emeralds the wrong way. Also, when dealing with enemies, she never holds back her strength and is not above the idea of using lethal force. She is usually highly disciplined and focused, never allowing herself to lose control, and can be quite stubborn and impatient once she has put her mind to something. Her intensive demeanor, however, is motivated by her own genuine concern for others' safety. In truth, Blaze has a kind heart and always stands up for those who cannot stand up for themselves. Because of her own self-imbosed strict discipline though, she is often tense and frequently suffers from great self-pressure. Initially, she held a personal dislike of her pyrokinesis because it left her to bear her responsibilities alone and it made other children tease her for her inability to control it, which made her view her flames as a curse. She later learns to accept them from Sonic's advice and came to see them as a blessing. Also, when it comes to her duty as guardian of the Sol Emeralds and their relation to the Chaos Emeralds, she is shown to have great faith in the actions both sets of Emeralds take on their own, no matter how vague their reasons may be. Because of her past and strong sense of responsibility, Blaze has developed a habit of being self-reliant. This has led her to build up walls between her and other people, making her anti-social, withdrawn, and shy. As a result, she would bottle up her secret feelings, leaving herself in inner turmoil. She also lacks in social skills and has a hard time opening up and talking to people. She was also initially wary and curt towards strangers and frequently rejected offers to help, even becoming defensive and angry. This attitude also made her somewhat selfish as she berated Sonic's offers to help and eventually ended up fighting him. After interacting with Sonic and Cream, Blaze has mellowed out considerably socially making her more amiable, friendly, and gentle towards others. She also came to understand the true meaning of friendship, making her willing to trust and accept help from others. While she still prefers handling things on her own and remains somewhat reclusive, she will accept her friends' help and is genuinely grateful for their aid. Recently, she is seemingly much more sociable, participating in Sonic's birthday party simply for the sake of friendship, and is much quicker to open up and relax in front of her friends. Blaze is very honest and almost blunt when dealing with annoyances such as Marine. During the Jeweled Scepter incident, she tried to leave Marine behind on missions due to Marine's risky behavior and even went far enough to hurt her feelings by calling her a 'nuisance' to keep her from coming along with her on a dangerous mission to Pirates' Island. This caused Marine to go after the pirates without Sonic, Tails, or Blaze. Sooner rather than later, Marine was captured by them. Blaze also had a rather bad habit of getting over-confident in threatening people to whom she thinks "deserves" it. This was most notably shown during the Jeweled Scepter incident. Blaze sometimes has a tendency to judge others poorly and see less value in others. Notably, she expected no one to know that their worlds were in great danger during the Sol Emerald incident but was proven wrong when Sonic and Tails were also aware. Her poor judgment of others led her to have a fight with Sonic and misjudge Cream until she realized how helpful she was. Blaze suffers from acrophobia and just the sight of heights makes her terrified, nervous, and uncomfortable as seen in Sky Babylon. However, she is not much for admitting her fear and will try to hide it. Powers and abilities: Blaze's trademark power is her pyrokinetic ability to brandish, create, and control the elemental force of fire with her body at will in any way she pleases. This ability is so deeply rooted in her that even her soul is alit with flames. Though Blaze initially had trouble controlling her flames, she has since become very adept at using them, turning them into an incredible force. Notably, she is able to handle them delicately enough to create small embers in the palm of her hand or defrost frozen creatures without harming them. Her power over fire is so advanced that she is even completely invulnerable to certain kinds of fire and can manipulate foreign flames at will too. Blaze can conjure up flames for various offensive effects, the most basic maneuvers of which involve turning herself into a tornado of fire by spinning around. Notably, she can cloak herself in flames with a midair twirl for strikes, trigger high-speed twirls empowered by flames in order to form fiery tornadoes around her that destroy anything they collide with, envelop herself in flames to become an explosive meteor with enough impact power to create a crater in bedrock or increase the power behind her strikes to such levels that she can send the Egg Mobile and its passenger flying into the horizon with a single, fire-charged kick. She can even create pressurized blasts of fire and have them burst out of the ground from afar. Purely offense usages aside, Blaze can also use her pyrokinesis to propel herself forward or upward with short bursts of fire or obtain limited flight by creating propulsive flames underneath her feet to slow her descent. However, her signature move with her flames lets her turn herself into a burning projectile that not only enhances her running speed but also lets her plow through opponents while running. Also, because Blaze's soul is alight with flame, she can serve as a vessel for Iblis, who would otherwise reject anyone not a member of the royal family of Soleanna, although his power would still leak out of her body. Like many others, Blaze possesses no small amount of speed, allowing her to run at super speeds. In line with her graceful nature, Blaze is as well incredibly athletic considering her impressive dexterity and nimbleness when executing her various ballerina-like moves. Notably, she has enough skills in the area of athletics, reflexes, and agility to let her execute unique tricks and movements at high speed while in mid-air, pull off various Axel Jump maneuvers at immense speed, and grind on Grind Rails with ease. On the ground she is also able to perform top spins and axel jumps. In addition, she has amazing jumping skills, enough to jump very long distances from rooftop to rooftop on top of tall towers with ease while landing safely. As the guardian of the Sol Emeralds, Blaze has a deep connection to them. Before she understood the meaning of friendship though, Blaze was unable to harness the Sol Emeralds' power. After embracing the friendships she had forged, however, she gained the ability to tap into the Sol Emeralds' energies and use them to empower herself. In combat, Blaze makes use of her own type of hand-to-hand combat skills. In fact, many of Blaze's moves focus on graceful and delicate movements similar to ballerina moves to strike precise and hard blows. When attacking, she tends to use her feet when launching physical blows. Also, most of her fighting uses pyrokinesis in conjunction with her attacks, Blaze can create unique and dynamic moves that deal destructive damage to her targets. She can likewise perform an attack similar to the Homing Attack, where she quickly launches herself at an enemy and attacks them. In some instances, Blaze is shown being able to levitate in midair. Being royalty, Blaze also has much knowledge about the various aspects of her planet, such as its history, ancient languages, and legends; and knows much about the various powers of the Jeweled Scepter. Additionally, she has excellent skills when it comes to driving vehicles like the Royal Chariot. Weaknesses: Suffering from slight acrophobia, Blaze gets uncomfortable when faced with great heights, which is perhaps her greatest weakness. Blaze's temper also makes her prone to harsh and rough decisions. Relationships: Cream - As Blaze was traveling alone, after defeating Dr. Eggman for the first time, Cream the Rabbit had surprised her by hiding. Blaze was a little hostile, but Cream instead walked up towards her and invited her to her house, along with her mother, Vanilla the Rabbit. Blaze thought this to be calmingly eerie about the way they would treat a stranger. Cream then agreed to show Blaze around, starting their adventure. Throughout, Blaze was only focused on collecting all of the Sol Emeralds but as they travel, Blaze soon feels a bond, finally seeing Cream as a friend and not a guide. She was very worried about Cream's safety after she destroyed the Eggman robot that captured Cream and briefly thought Cream had been consumed in the explosion, causing her to frantically search the robot's wreckage before she found Cream had used her flying powers to escape the explosion. Even when Blaze left to her own dimension, they had hinted on missing each other's company. During the Time Eater incident, they are seen interacting with each other again at Sonic's birthday party. Sonic - Sonic is one of Blaze's friends and a valuable ally of hers. However, they did not start out on the best of terms. While Blaze was tracking down the Sol Emeralds during her first adventure on Sonic's world, Blaze was told by many people to team up with Sonic for her quest. However, Blaze's inability to on others made her affronted by this. When she finally got face-to-face with Sonic, Blaze refused to let Sonic get involved in something that she considered to be her own problem. Ultimately, Blaze lost her temper and tried to make Sonic leave by force when he tried getting involved in a showdown with Dr. Eggman/Dr. Eggman Nega at Dead Line. After their fight, however, She was encouraged by Sonic to not assume too much responsibility and be true to herself. This advice helped Blaze realize that she could allow herself to rely on others if she let her guard down. The two of them became real friends afterward and would subsequently help each other resolve the crisis brought on by Dr. Eggman and Eggman Nega. Since then, Blaze and Sonic have steadily become better friends and allies. During her first adventure on Sonic's world, Blaze could not care less about Sonic himself as he was not related to her present quest. Refusing his help, Blaze initially had a lesser opinion about him based on what she had heard. After formally crossing paths with Sonic the first time, Blaze still refused his help but also became more curious about what kind of person he was due to being impressed by how engaged he was in the well-being of the world. Later, after their fight, Blaze received some nuggets of wisdom from Sonic that helped Blaze realize how selfish she had been about trying to carry the weight of the world on her own, and the two of them became friends. Following that, Blaze willingly chose to believe in Sonic, which would lead to a firm establishment of mutual faith and trust between them. This became evident when Blaze trusted him to face Eggman Nega on her behalf while Sonic entrusted her to save Cream. Also, just like Sonic acknowledges Blaze's power and skills, Blaze respects Sonic's, having admitted that she bows to his skills. Also, whenever Blaze's emotions get the better of her, Sonic will be there to remind her of what is important and to stay cool. They have also displayed an occasional custom where they shake hands when they depart, signifying their growing friendship and the promise to meet once more. Blaze and Sonic are alike in many ways, having similar skills and self-assumed duties. On the other hand, they possess very different backstories and contrasting traits, the most obvious of them being Blaze and Sonic's "stoic" and "free" personalities: Blaze is outwardly stoic and blunt, yet inwardly highly emotional, whereas Sonic is inwardly free and adventurous, yet outwardly level-headed and cool. When it comes down to it, Sonic's way of life stands as a deep contrast to Blaze's. However, Sonic's way of living life like an adventure also means that there is no enjoyment to be found in it if one does not follow their own rules, which demands a strong and flexible mind; in other words, it does not just mean being lax. It is thanks to this perspective that Blaze has been able to achieve some of the results that are nothing short of admirable and have brought smiles to many faces. As such, Blaze respects Sonic's way of life to a certain extent, because he has a different perspective and approach, but also produces results that overlap with the direction she is aiming for. From Blaze's point of view, Sonic is a reliable and capable person, which is a great difference from her usual attitude about others in general. While she does not always agree with Sonic's lax and carefree attitude, Blaze nonetheless takes these traits in stride with casual acceptance. In addition, after having been on several adventures with him, Blaze has seen Sonic's ability to do what he speaks and his ability to perform at the critical moment. These feats, in a sense, have made Blaze listen to him. It can therefore be said that she has come to recognize his abilities to a certain extent. Also, while Blaze tends to push herself to solve things on her own because of her sense of responsibility, Sonic does not stop her from doing so any more than necessary. This may be due to how Sonic respects Blaze's freedom to do what she wants. However, he also seems to respect her personal principles of doing the best she can with pride in the position she is in, which he does not have. Because of her endearing trials, Sonic is able to trust and cooperate with her when the time comes. Also, while Blaze might tend to alienate Sonic in the heat of moments at times because of her old ways and pride, she will nonetheless regret it as she realizes that Sonic is always there to help her out, even she thinks she is alone. They are as well shown to be great partners in combat, displaying a brilliant coordination that makes it hard to believe that they don't see each other often. Additionally, the situation of living in different dimensions also affects Blaze's relationship with Sonic. Fundamentally, since they both live in different worlds, it is for the best that they take care of their own world. While they respect and honor that, they can also cooperate with each other in times of real trouble. This is a difficult balance to achieve, but so far it seems to have been adjusted to some extent by the guidance of the Chaos Emeralds and Sol Emeralds. And the fact that Blaze and Sonic are the ones who are responsible for this is another interesting aspect of their relationship. Knuckles - Blaze and Knuckles met when Cream saw Knuckles and greeted him, and though Cream wanted Blaze to be friends with Knuckles, it didn't work out right. Knuckles was friendly until he saw Blaze holding a few Sol Emeralds, he mistook them for Chaos Emeralds and therefore gave Blaze advice to give them to Sonic. Blaze gets angry at Knuckles and tells him that she has no Chaos Emeralds. Knuckles accuses her of lying and makes an attempt to harm her, but Blaze dodges and clobbers Knuckles, knocking him out and leaving him lying in a crevice. Knuckles later wanted revenge against Blaze but was distracted by Amy. Cream convinces Blaze that Knuckles is actually a 'nice guy’, which made Blaze feel relieved. Knuckles no longer shows any dislike for her as he was there with Sonic's other friends while helping Blaze with the Sol Emeralds. Amy Rose - Blaze and Amy Rose first met during the Sol Emerald incident when Amy asks Cream where Sonic is. Cream then introduced Amy to Blaze and they were on good terms until Amy assumes that Blaze might like Sonic the way she does. Blaze denies it, saying that she "couldn't care less” about anyone named 'Sonic'. When they meet again, Amy tries to convince Blaze she could rely on friends, and later on, helps her and Cream to get away from Knuckles who planned to attack Blaze. In Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, Blaze and Amy seem to be close friends where the two were seen smiling and holding hands. However, in Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games Blaze stops Amy from sending a personal letter to Sonic by challenging her to a sport. Blaze also gives an annoyed expression by putting her hand on her face, saying "oh brother!" when Amy is flirting with Sonic and calling him "darling". Silver - Silver the Hedgehog is Blaze's good friend and companion from the future. During the events of the Solaris incident, the two worked closely in Silver's future to battle blis many times, with Blaze relying on his help to do so. She treated him like a younger brother, offering answers to his biggest questions and helping him stay grounded in reality. In exchange, Silver cared deeply for Blaze and showed concern for her safety. His naivete and earnestness inspired her to be better, something she always liked about him. Despite being the more mature of the two, Blaze allowed Silver to take the lead in missions, such as with Mephiles' assignment to destroy the Iblis Trigger. Despite enjoying his naivete, Blaze understood that it made Silver susceptible to his emotions, and she wouldn't hesitate to call him out on it. Upon being separated by Mephiles’ time travel, Blaze instantly set out to reunite with Silver, believing he required support and acting protective of him. Upon finding Silver, she expressed relief. She offered guidance for his quandary about sacrificing one life to save the world, claiming that they would accomplish nothing without trying. Once Silver learned the truth about the Iblis Trigger, Blaze seemed surprised but agreed with the change of plans to save Elise. She needed to be rescued in Silver's Test of Friendship, showing their bond. She also trusted Silver's plan to finally defeat Iblis without him explaining it, showing her renewed faith in him. At the end of their journey, Blaze chose to sacrifice herself as the vessel of Iblis in Silver's place. She demanded Silver stop time and seal her into another dimension to trap Iblis; when he failed to, desperately calling her a "friend", Blaze smiled and scolded Silver one last time for being so naive about the depth of their bond. She then faded away, separating them across time and space. After the defeat of Solaris, the events of this incident were erased. However, Blaze and Silver have met and teamed up multiple times since and are still depicted as friends. During the Wisp incident, Sonic comments that Silver and Blaze were in perfect sync to which Silver replies that he feels like they have paired up before. Tails mentions that perhaps they were partners somewhere, sometime. After rescuing Blaze from the Time Eater, Blaze will comment: "Crisis City... I never thought I’d be back here again. This world is full of surprises." Silver and Blaze are also seen chatting to each other at Sonic’s birthday party. The two of them are also together in the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games, in which they challenge Sonic and Mario to Dream and normal Ice Hockey in the Adventure Tours. Silver and Blaze meet up once again during the events of Dodon Pa's Grand Prix, this time joining up with Vector to form Team Vector. The two greet each other with a "long time no see" and appear to be close and friendly towards each other. Throughout the story Silver is suspicious of something being wrong with the tourney. Blaze notices his odd behavior and confronts him about it. He explains to her that he has a feeling that something is not right. Blaze says she trusts him and agrees to help him investigate. They work together with the others to uncover and foil Eggman's plan and rescue Dodon Pa. Tails - Blaze first met Tails with Sonic when they were searching for her. They have interacted indirectly, but after her fight against Sonic was finished, Tails tried to convince Blaze to stop fighting and to believe in Sonic so she can rest. She was going to take that into consideration and thanked him for it, but she insisted in fighting Dr. Eggman herself. Blaze finds Tails to be a valuable ally, when it comes to machines and sea crafts. Marine - The two are allies, though Blaze initially showed her dislike of Marine the Raccoon by leaving her behind in missions. However, Blaze has no choice but to let Marine come if she promises to stay with the group. Before Sonic, Tails, and Blaze depart to Pirates Island to unlock the door and finish off the pirates, they decided to leave Marine behind this time, she however doesn't accept it. Blaze confesses to Marine that she is a nuisance which hurts her feelings. Sonic and Tails disagree with what Blaze said and told her she was too harsh on Marine. After Sonic and Blaze save Marine from the Ghost Titan and defeat it, Blaze is disappointed at Marine for sneaking on the Deep Typhoon to come to Pirates' Island which would've put her in grave danger. Marine however surprises Blaze by finding her stolen Jeweled Scepter. Blaze thanks Marine for the great contribution thus realizing how wrong she thought of Marine and even asks Marine to come along with them for the first time, showing more tolerance for her excitement and faith in her maturity. Blaze's relationship with Marine seems to become very similar to Sonic's relationship with Tails. Eggman Nega - Blaze's most nefarious adversary is undoubtedly Eggman Nega, who she has had a rather hostile past with. This can be owed to Nega's love of senseless destruction and desire to conquer, or even destroy, the world. As such, she is quick to lose her composure whenever Eggman Nega threatens to destroy her kingdom, making her scream in fury and forcing nearby individuals to try and calm her down. She has also described him as "far worse than Dr. Eggman" in some ways, and is constantly aware of him and the danger he can bring to her people. Nevertheless, Blaze has also shown frustration and disappointment whenever she sees Nega leave without a prior fight. Captain Whisker - Blaze appears to be easily annoyed and angered by Captain Whisker due to the fact that he took her Jeweled Scepter. She finds him to be a waste of time and does not treat him as seriously as she does other villains. Dr. Eggman - Like with Eggman Nega, Blaze has an opposition against Dr. Eggman. She opposes the idea of Eggman building "Eggmanland" in either her or Sonic's dimension, deeming it mad. While she dislikes him it seems to not be as much as her hatred of Eggman Nega, possibly since he is substantially more sane. It was because of Eggman that Blaze was lost in Sonic's dimension. Dr. Eggman steals Blaze's Sol Emeralds in her world, which causes her to chase after him. While in pursuit, she sees a bright light and then passes out. When she wakes up, she questions whether or not she's in a different dimension; she finds out that she is in another one entirely and Eggman still has all of the emeralds. Throughout traversing Sonic’s world, she is tracking down Eggman to collect all of the Sol Emeralds back. Later, Eggman sends a letter to Blaze that he has kidnapped Cream, which makes Blaze get serious, and tracks him down to save her friend. Blaze destroys Eggman's robot and rescues Cream. Miscellaneous: Despite having the title of "princess", Blaze is sometimes referred to as a queen. Blaze is described as a "Tsundere type". She wears a "Takarazuka-like costume" under her cape. Like Sonic's specialty in breakdancing, Blaze seems to be able to dance ballet as she is seen spinning on the tip of her toes before striking a victory pose. Blaze is able to perform Chaos Control with at least two Chaos Emeralds, as she used them to transport herself to another dimension along with Iblis at the end of Silver's story. When asked about her weight, Blaze would respond "L-Like I'd tell you that." unlike the other female characters, which simply says "Secret". If Blaze is snuck up on and tapped, she jumps like a frightened cat, then she turns to the offender angrily and stomps on the ground, before turning her back and tapping her foot. Blaze might know more than one language other than English, as she was able to read a book filled with ancient text found in Sky Babylon. Blaze's fear of heights is rather ironical, as cats generally prefer to stay on high-up places and almost always safely land on their feet. Blaze will almost always set aside time for friends and when she can’t, she will always make it up to them. She’s insecure about her small cup size.
