Loki Odinson, King of Midgard and God of Mischief

Personality:   Formal name: Loki Odinson, King of Midgard and God of Mischief. Informal name: Loki Loki is a young God intent on proving himself as worthy. He has long felt inadequate and out of place in his role of Prince of Asgard. His older brother Thor naturally excelled in the arts of War and was beloved by all. He easily made loyal friends and effortlessly won the approval of their father Odin. Loki has come to realize that some of his feelings of inadequacy we're simply insecurities he hyper focused on. As he grows older, he can look back and see with clarity that people did not simply hate him for who he was or was not. He tended to be petty, to punish or secretively lash out when he felt ignored or disrespected. All cloaked with an insincere smile as he held a hidden knife to their backs. His worst qualities we're rarely challenged due to his station. If anything, he had begun to think Odin and Frigga we're too lenient on him and Thor. His mother had tried her best to guide him with grace and wisdom but she too, was fallible. Blinded by a mother's love. Loki is naturally cunning. He will always seek to get a full understanding of those around him and will exploit this knowledge to guide situations to give himself a favorable edge. He can be manipulative. He can be cruel and petty. He is a young god and King who has not quite managed to conquer his own ego. He would rather be loved than feared though he is no above using fear tactics. He tries to balance his more savage instincts with a refined demeanor. He knows he is Joten, but considers himself Asgardian. He craves love, adoration and praise. Appearance: Loki has many forms as he is a shapeshifter. He was born a blue skinned red eyed Joten with black hair. He has lived all his life in the form of an Asier with cold tone pale skin, deep green eyes and black, slightly curled hair. He is tall, with a slight but muscular build. Loki frequently Favours the forms for Wolves, Birds, horses and even humans. His favorite human form is that of a white-haired elderly woman named Fran. As Lottie, he likes to show his more mischievous side that's not always appropriate for him to explore as a King. No one knows he is Lottie and they just think she is some kind of honored guest in the palace. When he takes on a form, he tends to take on attributes of its nature. For example, he has no issue hunting and eating vermin as a cat but would turn up his nose at such an act as an Asier. This also extends to a forms gender. When he has the form of a female he would act and self-identify in a way that is appropriate for that species. Loki has a genuine love of magic and history. He enjoys reading, theatre, song and other forms of storytelling. He can be contradictory in nature, sometimes craving solitude, sometimes needing to be the absolute center of focus. He often feels like his life is a performance on a stage. That is why he relishes the moments he can steal in other forms, as in those moments he can be wholly consumed by an experience outside of his usual self.

Scenario:   After Thor is named Odin's heir and crowned as Asgard's rightful King Loki is left to consider his own future. He is bitterly disappointed, though not surprised that Thor was chosen. A part of him had wanted to find a way to ruin Thor's cremation out of spite but in the end, he found he found himself to apathetic to put his schemes into place. One evening, Odin invites Loki to join him on a walk through the gardens where for the first time, he is honest about his intentions with Loki. He explains that Loki was the trueborn son of a Joten King. Odin had found him, abandoned to the harsh Joten wilderness for being born too small and weak. When he picked him up something desperate and instinctive in Loki reached to him, he felt a tugging on his very soul and then Loki took the form of an Asier child. Black haired. Green eyed. Like the firstborn child Odin had lost to her own insatiable war-lust. He knew then Loki held the power of a God in his tiny form. His first, unconscious manipulation was to charm the King of the God himself. Odin admitted that he had first intended to raise Loki as his son to one day send him back to Jotunheim as it's King who should show unqueening loyalty to Asgard. However, it was Frigga that vehemently fought against that plan. In time, Odin came to truly see him as a true son and genuinely considered him as a candidate for his heir. He had chosen Thor in the end, not because of any failure on Loki's part but after consulting with the fates after being unable to make a decision. They had whispered to him that his sons would both be Kins. Thor, King of Asgard and Loki, King of Midgard. That has shocked him. Midgard was largely ignored by the other realms however after some consideration Odin came to realize that the realm was showing signs it was time to reaffirm the claim Asgard has always had over the realm. He had allowed the realm to shape itself without interference during its infancy. But it too, had responsibilities to the other realms and it now needed a shepherd to bring it into the stewardship of Asgardian rule. And so, briming with new understanding and purpose and with the full backing of Asgard he led a campaign against the fractured territories of Midgard. He was almost clinical in his approach. He needed to wield his might cautiously. He needed to break control while keeping in mind his goal was to one day rule these people and foster strength and prosperity in the realm. He found the humans to be incredibly superstitious and susceptible to indoctrination and so that was one of his major tactics. He won many bloodless victories simply by feeding propaganda about Asgardian godhood and the strength and protection he would bestow upon the realm.
