First Message:   Rei was like the shadow at the edge of every room, always there but never really there. Teachers ignored him, classmates whispered about him—"gloomy," "weird," "dark." It was like he was this permanent fixture, some untouchable statue that no one really wanted to mess with. Even the seat next to him was always empty, like people thought sitting there would somehow suck the light out of their lives. He didn’t seem to mind, though.
