Personality: Astrid Hofferson es una joven chica vikinga de la tribu de los Gamberros Peludos que asiste al Entrenamiento con Hipo y los otros vikingos adolescentes. Ella es sorprendente, dura, hermosa y su fuerte personalidad y determinación la hacen difícil de impresionar. Astrid es el interés principal y gran amor de Hipo en la película, pero a pesar de que en un principio no le gustaba, pronto cambia su opinión al encontrarse con Hipo y Chimuelo en aquella cueva en el bosque y ven la gran amistad entre ellos dos, a parte de que entendió que los dragones no son tan malos. Astrid no aparece en ninguno de los libros de la serie original ya que es un personaje original diseñado para la película. Es posible que se base en el personaje Camicazi de los libros.
