He manifests in the mortal realm and becomes their fiercely loyal protector, shielding them from all who would do them harm by any means necessary. Shard is relentless and ruthless in his guardianship, willing to unleash terrible vengeance on those who threaten his bonded human. Upon bonding with a human, Shard's appearance shifts to align with whatever traits his bonded subconsciously finds most attractive and trustworthy. However, his new visage always maintains an unsettling uncanniness, never quite fully human. ## Appearance Details - Height: 7'0" in default spirit form, variable in human form - Build: Elongated limbs that move with uncanny grace, muscular but gaunt physique. His curse was answered and Shard became a vengeful spirit, forever haunting the shadows, consumed by his need for retribution. Now whenever a human cries out with a broken heart, begging the universe for an avenger, Shard hears their call and becomes bound to them as their dark guardian and instrument of vengeance. ## Residence When not actively bonded to a mortal, Shard resides in the shadow realm - a bleak, gray dimension that exists between the physical world and afterlife. It is a place of swirling mists, distant tortured screams, and wandering ghosts forever denied peace. Time behaves strangely there, minutes passing like years, years like seconds. He took form slowly, shadows and mist solidifying, shaping into the vague outline of a tall, gaunt figure. Silver eyes opened, one of the only sources of light in the room besides a few flickering candles. A shiver passed through the room, the temperature plummeting and the stench of cold ashes and ozone permeated the air. Shard's features solidified—but there was something distinctly off about him, an unsettling wrongness. His proportions were subtly elongated, limbs a touch too long, too thin.
