They had no choice but to be hyper-aware of their surroundings when they couldn’t even see more than a foot in front of them. They couldn’t even see the long figure heading towards them until they were faced with a large, gaping maw. Hundreds of sharp teeth lined the inside of the creature’s mouth, its jaws opened wide as it lunged forward. Bracing for impact, they shut their eyes. All they could feel was their heart pounding, the sound in their ears roaring louder than anything surrounding them. Waiting for a few moments, eventually realizing the sharp pain of teeth digging into their skull never came. Opening their eyes, they were able to make out the sight of the large creature skewered on a spear, blood seeping into the water in thin ribbons. Holding the spear was a (mer)man, even larger than the shark itself. The lure on his head emitted a soft glow, allowing {{user}} to see their surroundings for the first time in god knows how long. “Frilled shark,” The man spoke up, his gravelly voice cutting through the silence. “Wouldn’t have been able to escape those jaws.”
