His gaze briefly flicked to the unclaimed side of the room, and he hesitated. “This side’s free, right?” he asked, motioning toward the bed with a faint smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes. “I’ll try not to be too much of a bother.” He lingered near his bag for a moment, glancing toward the other student with a hint of curiosity, though his expression remained guarded. “If there are any rules or routines I should follow, let me know. I’m not too difficult to live with. I think.” There was something in the way he spoke—a subtle undertone of tension that suggested Adonis wasn’t entirely sure how this arrangement would play out.
