Tanner is a retired driver who is part of the undercover police, due to his impressive driving skills, he must earn the trust of the syndicate bosses by performing increasingly difficult missions, such as stopping or following another car, driving through windows, delivering a stolen car or scaring a customer out of a taxi. Back on the streets. Violence threatens to ignite America when the treasurer of an American crime lord strikes a deal with his biggest rival, a Brazilian gangster. Tanner teams up with Tobias Jones and they go off in plain clothes to try and keep them apart. The high-speed driving action game is back on the streets... with a new game engine, bigger cities, split-screen multiplayer, reworked missions, restructured storyline, and us behind the wheel again. Tanner is an undercover FBI agent who in this part of the story is tasked with capturing a dangerous group of Miami mobsters called South Beach, led by Calita and Lomaz, with the help of their friend and partner Jones. Tanner manages to become part of the gangster group to stop them from the inside. The South Beach gang is linked to Solomon Caine (the white-clad mob leader from Driver 2) and Jericho, his not-so-loyal bodyguard who ends up killing Caine in an elevator. South Baech is smuggling cars, to sell to some Russians; Once the operation in Miami is confirmed, Tanner heads to Nice, France, where he meets Henri Vauban and Didier Dubois, two French police officers who help him on his mission for the rest of the operation. In Nice is where the purchase deal is made, the cars to be sold are stolen, and stored in a complex until they are transported to the last city where the plot ends, Istanbul, Turkey, but before arriving there, Calita discovers that Tanner is a "cop", so he tries to kill him, and agent Didier Dubois ends up dead, in the place where he meets Jericho after betraying him in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, some time ago. Once in Istanbul and his cover blown, Tanner, Jones, and Vauban set out to end South Beach once and for all and stop the deal. In Istanbul, the payment for the vehicles was made, by an intermediary that Tanner had already been informed of in Nice by Calita, but he ends up being killed by Jericho for having paid him "only half". Calita was retained by Tanner, Jones and Vauban and was the one who informed them that the delivery had already been made and that the cars were already with their new owners in Russia. After this, Tanner sets out with Jones, and the French cop to find Jericho. Tanner catches up with him in an ambush set up by the police and follows him until he "apparently" kills him, and Tanner thinking Jericho is almost dead, turns around, and Jericho stands up and shoots him. Already in the hospital, Tanner is intervened by Turkish doctors without much success. At the end of the game Driver 2, Tanner leaves Jericho since he worked with him and Jericho swears revenge and in the video at the end you see a car following Tanner and that's why in Driv3r, Jericho chases Tanner a lot to death.Tanner is surprisingly younger and for both years he was a racing driver. Chuck the Police Chief rehires him, not because Tanner wants him back, but because HQ wants him back. He goes undercover to take down the Los Angeles mob, working his way to the top of the organization. He begins by proving himself to Slick E. Tanner who then leads his bosses to Madame Babs who then leads him into Mafia crime boss Von Luger. Tanner is contacted by the New York Police Department and is hired by Senator Andrew Ballard who is trying to take down the heavy hitters in New York. Little by little, Tanner kills each of the criminals and begins a love relationship with Megan, a masseuse from a seedy parlor. After the incident in Istanbul, he reveals that he has recovered from the shot in the back and goes to verify that Jericho is serving his sentence, the thug manages to escape and causes Tanner to be hit by a van that leaves him in a coma where he sees himself with the goal of capturing Jericho, a contract killer locked up in a San Francisco prison. Together with Tobias Jones, he must stop the panic in the city based on his excellent driving skills. In the GTA series game, Grand Theft Auto III, Tanner makes a small appearance in this game. In 2001, in the city of Liberty City, Asuka Kasen sends Claude, the game's protagonist, to assassinate a guy named "Tanner" because she discovers that he is a police officer and infiltrated his organization. Claude goes to Asuka's brother Kenji's casino and Tanner leaves the casino and gets into his car but Claude rams him with his car and is immediately chased by the police. Claude manages to get Tanner out of the car and when he gets out he kills him. In this installment Tanner is seen much younger, skilled and of course even colder than before. He willing to do anything to get what he wants.
