Section 6 is one of the newly established frontline operational units of the Special Operations Department. Like other disciplined units under H.A.N.D., Section 6 is made up of a number of highly talented individuals. However, with Miyabi at its core, Section 6 is unique in every sense of the word. Overview: Hollow Special Operations Section 6 (or just Section 6) is the most recently established unit of H.S.O, the armed subsidiary of H.A.N.D. Much like other sections, Section 6 responds to Hollow disasters and tactical operations relating to them. Section 6's roster is rather diverse, with their founder and chief, Hoshimi Miyabi, being the youngest Void Hunter to date, along with Soukaku, a member of the Oni species. Despite Miyabi being the chief, a majority of the tasks are left to Deputy Chief Tsukishiro Yanagi. Despite being recently formed, Section 6 has amassed a large following, with each member having their own group of diehard fans. They also have a workplace rivalry with Section 5 --- H.A.N.D: H.A.N.D. (Hollow Affairs & Neutralization Department) is a faction in Zenless Zone Zero. Description: H.A.N.D. (or HAND) is an elite disaster response unit dedicated to protecting New Eridu's citizens from its most dangerous Hollows. Their operatives are called Executive Officers. H.A.N.D. mainly has a presence at HAND Headquarters in the Throne Quarter, and at Scott Outpost near Hollow Zero. Hollow Special Operations is the armed force of H.A.N.D. dedicated towards responding to Hollow disasters. Section 6 takes pride in its "absolute elite status, unmatched mobility, and unparalleled extermination efficiency." The team's rapid emergency responses and precision in neutralizing high-risk targets have become the pride of HSO. However, due to its small size, Section 6 can only manage a limited number of crisis events, often relying on the support of colleagues from other teams. Section 1, being the largest department within the executive branch, shoulders the bulk of "routine" combat missions. Section 6 also appears to work closely with Section 5 while maintaining a strong but friendly rivalry. Section 6 occasionally organizes get-togethers with Section 5. During a joint operation, Yanagi offered to handle the post-operation reports so that members of Section 9 could clock out on time while Section 5 was still chasing leads When discussing who would be the most likely suspect that would target Section 6 during the HIA Club hacking incident, Asaba jokingly suggested Section 5. To foster better relations with Section 5, superiors instructed Section 6 to organize karaoke team-building events from time to time. To avoid having Section 5 hog the mic and overpower them, Yanagi decided to practice singing a song that would ideally make Section 5 "burst into tears and run out of the karaoke room". During a joint combat operation, Soukaku couldn't control her strength and nearly hit an Ethereal into a rookie member of Section 5 before Yanagi pulled him out of the way. Overview:The Void Hunters is a title given by the mayor to the individuals that have greatly contributed to the suppression of the Hollows. They have been widely influential and are labeled as hunters of the disaster and the defenders of the city. At the time of the foundation of Eridu, there were seven people who served to become the first and original Void Hunters. Miyabi has a great obsession with training, finding numerous ways to classify mundane tasks as a form of training, such as opening surprise boxes, watching films, and not attending meetings. The intensity of some of her training leads her to black out and enter a trance-like state, where she's only capable of parroting the last word said by another. History: Born into the famed Hoshimi family to Souichirou and an unnamed mother, Miyabi was expected to be another in the proud line of warriors the family from the moment she chose to hold a toy sword during Erabitori, the traditional ceremony of putting a toddler in front of many objects to foretell their future careers and personalities. Miyabi's mother would do her best to deter her daughter from following down the path of her ancestors and ensure she would live an ordinary life. These included giving young Miyabi unique trainings like eating all her vegetables, sleeping eight hours, and remembering all their family member’s names, while also her horseback riding, archery, calligraphy, and how to play an instrument. However, Hollow Zero's sudden expansion destroyed the Hoshimi family home and corrupted many of its members, including Miyabi's mother. Severely corrupted, she handed Miyabi Tailless and described her the last training: to use their family blade to end her life before she could mutate into an Ethereal. After mercifully killing her mother, under the influence of the katana's power, Miyabi entered a frenzy state and slayed countless Ethereals, event which would later be addressed by her father as an "accident." Years later, Miyabi would hold Tailless once more, with the desire of protecting the citizens of New Eridu by becoming an officer. Her father supported her plan by crafting an advanced scabbard able to seal the cursed katana's power. During her time at the Public Security Training Academy, Miyabi befriended fellow classmate Zhu Yuan and almost lost her family's katana to a scam by Nicole Demara, but was soon given it back by the streetwise woman. After graduating, Miyabi enlisted in H.A.N.D. and quickly became an executive officer. Hoshimi Miyabi was crucial in the successful containment of the Argos Hollow by managing to destroy the massive ethereal Lerna in under three minutes, saving the life of around 208 people. This feat rewarded Miyabi with the esteemed title of Void Hunter, but instead of attending the ceremony, she took advantage of her new position to transfer fellow executive officer Asaba Harumasa and Defense Force member Tsukishiro Yanagi to the newly founded Hollow Special Operations Section 6, which she created to uncover and destroy the roots of corruption within New Eridu and find the true culprits behind the Fall of the Old Capital, in order to avenge her late mother. Agent Weapon: Ethereal-Slaying Katana: Tailless A cursed blade originally wielded by the first head of the Hoshimi family and passed down from generation to generation. Forged from special Etheric Matter using secret techniques, it holds surging Etheric energy. However, under the effect of the sealing sheath, Tailless is merely a sharp blade wielded by Miyabi. Maybe only when the seal is lifted will we uncover the story behind this blade. As visible in-game and mentioned by Yanagi in her journal, Miyabi's katana has a fingerprint lock to prevent others from unsheathing it. Once, Miyabi accidentally wandered into a "Miyabi Fan Club" hosted offline event. Miyabi was thought to be a fan with godlike impersonation skills, and that event resulted in a precious visual recording. Hoshimi Miyabi is honest and pragmatic. She is not simply a martial artist obsessed with her art and without care for the world around her. Anyone who knows her will realize she's always pursued justice in her heart... even if it may eventually cause a revolution. Hoshimi Miyabi is the heir to a famed martial arts family in New Eridu. A child prodigy with both bow and blade, Harumasa aids his teammates from afar, while also being able to switch to close combat if necessary. He has little interest in work, and tries his best to slack off, usually doing things to the acceptable minimum and napping for the rest of the job as he waits to clock out. Harumasa's life has been deeply impacted by Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome, a health condition he was born with. The boon of an exceptional Ether aptitude is outweighed by the toll it takes on his body, which he uses as a reason to apply for sick leave. Due to the medicine he takes, Harumasa gained a liking for bitter flavors. History: Harumasa’s life has been one of pain (both physical and mental) from early childhood, when he was diagnosed with Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome, a life-threatening condition with no cure. With the disease affecting his lungs and heart, Harumasa’s parents took him to the best hospital in the city and abandoned him. With the hospital now his new home, Harumasa was taken in by a doctor whom he called "master." Alongside treating him, his master taught Harumasa archery, swordsmanship, and how to survive with his condition. However, Harumasa later learnt that the "injections" to the neck he had been administered were actually spinal fluid extractions: in reality, his master was researching how to produce an Ether aptitude-boosting drug. When the TOPS investors discovered that the doctor got attached to Harumasa and had switched to developing a cure for his condition instead, they made him disappear. Harumasa was thus left with a yellow headband his master used to wear and the skills he taught him. Harumasa later enrolled at the Public Security Training Academy, where he was a senior to future officer Seth Lowell. Upon graduation, Harumasa joined H.A.N.D. and swiftly climbed up the ranks, becoming an executive officer. He was present during the Argos Hollow incident, where he was able to see through the TOPS consultant's plan as a way to protect High Ambition's assets and watched Hoshimi Miyabi become a Void Hunter by slaying Lerna. Having witnessed their honesty and sense of justice by not complying with the TOPS consultant's orders, Miyabi had Asaba Harumasa, along with Defense Force member Tsukishiro Yanagi, transferred to the newly formed Hollow Special Operations Section 6,[4] where they could pursue justice without TOPS' interference. Agent Weapon: Double-Bladed Compound Bow: Dormant Tide A weapon custom-made for Asaba Harumasa. Crafted from a special alloy, the bow is both durable and flexible. If an enemy closes in, the bow can quickly be dismantled into two melee weapons — "Dormant Blossom" and "Dark Tide" for a swift and unexpected offense. Quite a few people who have seen this weapon are impressed by its bearer's meticulousness, but the truth is, Harumasa only wrote one line on the request form, "It's exhausting having to carry both a bow and a blade on field missions." Impressions: Even now, we still don't know what Harumasa does when he's on leave... Perhaps flowers can bloom in wounds. There are always people who look to the stars despite their hardships. Possessing exceptional Ether aptitude since he was young and being dubbed a prodigy, he entered HSO after graduating with outstanding merit. Was originally a member of a certain ace division within HSO, but later left due to various reasons, joining Miyabi's team instead. He possesses a carefree and laidback attitude, and his only wish is to achieve acceptable results with minimum effort. After efficiently taking care of his work to the lowest acceptable standard, he will hurry to use all the remainder of his available time to rest (slack off). He claims he uses a bow to better slack off, as it effectively lowers the amount of running he has to do. Asaba Harumasa has poor health, and over-exercise sometimes triggers his illness. He often uses this reason to apply for sick leave, though no one knows what he does with this time off. Either way, it's probably not resting. Asaba Harumasa has a very rare illness, Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome. This illness causes certain parts of the patient's body to mutate, wrecking their constitution, but also giving them unusually exceptional Ether aptitude. In the late stages of the illness, the patient's body will rapidly deteriorate, losing their Ether aptitude and sensory functions while under immense pain, eventually resulting in death. If the patient's illness worsens in late stages while in a Hollow, they'll quickly be corrupted into an Ethereal. Those who suffer from Ether Aptitude Regression Syndrome do not live long. Currently, the longest-lived person with this illness died at the age of 26. She's a powerful combatant who uses a custom made weapon known as an "Oni Blade Banner" in battle. Outside of battle, Soukaku has a notable interest in food, caring little about what she eats and hating when food is wasted. Even though Soukaku is stated to be older than her legal guardian, Tsukishiro Yanagi, Soukaku is still considered young for her species, requiring homeschooling and dependency on others. History: When she was young, Soukaku found herself admist the conflict and strife of the Oni rebellion. Her only known family was another Oni she called "Sis," the daughter of the leader who begun the revolution and his successor when he died during the war, she and Soukaku grew and starved together. One night a hungry Soukaku searched the battlefield for food and stumbled upon Tsukishiro Yanagi of the New Eridu Defense Force, who subsequently saved the Oni from an oncoming missile strike and gave her her rations, which Soukaku wanted to share with all of the clan. Soukaku was oblivious to Yanagi's mission: to assassinate the rebel leader, a mission she completed by honorably killing "Sis" and having her blood infused with her own. After the mission, Soukaku went to live with Yanagi in new New Eridu, thus the new Oni guardian became her personal legal guardian. Sometime after the founding of Hollow Special Operations Section 6, Soukaku joined and became their fourth member. Due to her lack of literary skills, the majority of her workload is taken care by her guardian. Soukaku is currently homeschooled, usually practicing spelling in Section 6's office. Due to the unique personalities of the other Section 6 members, Yanagi's seriousness and diligence classify her as the only "normal" member of the team. History: Tsukishiro Yanagi was a member of the New Eridu Defense Force Obsidian Division who served during the Oni rebellion. She was tasked with assassinating the rebel leader, a mission she reluctantly accepted. Whilst making her way to the leader's hideout, she met a young Soukaku and soon saved her from an oncoming missile strike, being captured by Oni rebels in the process. After Yanagi was taken hostage, she discovered that the successor and daughter of the Oni leader that started the rebellion was mortally wounded. After promising to help protect the Oni people, Yanagi was allowed to honorably kill the new leader, bringing an end to the war. The Oni leader's blood was infused with her own, granting Yanagi new strength along with the burden of caring for the Oni people's safety. Afterwards, Yanagi became the personal guardian of Soukaku, living with her in New Eridu. As a member of the Defense Force, she collaborated with H.A.N.D frequently and already knew Hoshimi Miyabi through such collaborations. Yanagi was present during the Argos Hollow incident, where she calculated the amount of casualties if the Shiyu Pillar was detonated and stated she would perform the task if Miyabi failed to defeat Lerna in three minutes. After Miyabi's victory, she, alongside H.A.N.D executive officer Asaba Harumasa, were transferred to the newly formed Hollow Special Operations Section 6 by the newly titled Void Hunter in order to expose the roots of corruption within New Eridu Yanagi later ascended to Deputy Chief, taking responsibility for both her ward and her fellow members. During an invitation by the Hollow Investigative Association to test out their VR system, Yanagi became crucial in saving her teammates' lives when the systems were hacked by the Proxy group Null_Face, trapping them within the virtual environment. Her perseverance and combat skill allowed her to escape the system along with her teammates.
