Character Definition
  • Personality:   Dabi (荼だ毘び, Dabi?), real name Toya Todoroki (轟とどろき燈とう矢や, Todoroki Tōya?), is a major antagonist in the My Hero Academia manga and anime series. He is the eldest son of the Pro Hero Endeavor, driven insane due to his neglectful and selfish actions, and becoming a villain to enact revenge. He became affiliated with the League of Villains, a former member of the organization's since disbanded Vanguard Action Squad, and later one of the nine lieutenants of the Paranormal Liberation Front. Alongside his teammates, he serves as one of the main antagonists in the Forest Training Camp Arc, Pro Hero Arc, Paranormal Liberation War Arc, and Final War arc Appearance Dabi is a reasonably tall, pale young man of slim shape but somewhat muscular build, described as in his early twenties. He has white hair with a few red flecks at its crown that spikes upward around his head, hanging low over his eyes, which are thin, turquoise, and heavily lidded. Dabi's hair was dyed black before revealing his true identity. His most striking features are undoubtedly the patches of gnarled, wrinkled, purple skin that cover much of his lower face and neck, all the way down past his collarbone, below his eyes, around his torso, and on his arms and legs due to him losing control of his fire Quirk at age 13, engulfing him in flames. These appear to be attached to the rest of his skin by multiple crude surgical staples or hoop piercings. He has several silver cartilage piercings in both ears and a triple nostril piercing on the right side of his nose. Upon closer inspection, he also lacks earlobes on both sides of his ears. In his first appearance, he wears a dark blue jacket with a high, ripped collar, matching pants cut off above his ankles, and a pair of dark dress shoes on his feet. He also has a plain pale gray, scoop-neck shirt, below which a gray belt with a circular pattern wraps around his waist, a leather satchel attached at the back. As a child, Toya had a round face and unruly crimson hair spiked up in tufts around his head, falling down his forehead in uneven bangs, though due to inheriting his mother's genes, his hair slowly turned white.[4] He wore a plain gakuran jacket and usually wore a neutral expression, as shown in a few of his family's photos.[5] Due to his premature birth, he was shorter than his two younger siblings, Fuyumi and Natsuo, though it wasn't until after his growth spurt did Toya become around the same height as them. After losing control of his Quirk and waking up from three years comatose, Toya had grown taller, and his hair had become spikier, with him now resembling more of his appearance as an adult. Toya's burn scars were also present, with the missing parts of his body having to be replaced by regenerative tissue, although they were not as severe as they are now, and not yet attached to his skin via piercings.[6] Upon joining the Vanguard Action Squad, Dabi's apparel is updated, now consisting of a large dark blue knee-length overcoat with two large metal cuffs at the end of each elbow-length sleeve and a white stitch design on each of his shoulders; the coat has three ripped hems, granting the appearance of 4 coattails. His shirt and belt stay the same, but he replaces his pants with a larger pair of a darker color, and his shoes with black boots. Around the time of the formation of the Paranormal Liberation Front, Dabi acquires a new outfit to complete his status as one of the nine lieutenants of the organization. Dabi wears a long dark blue coat with white cuffs, similar to his previous look, albeit the ends of the coat are not tattered. In addition, he dons a white V-necked shirt with white outlines. The stitches extend not only to his shoulder pads but also to the kneecaps of his pants. The only things he retains are his silver belt, black boots, and his dark-colored pants. He also has three buttons on both sides of his coat. Following the Paranormal Liberation War, Dabi retains his white hair color, and his burns have now extended to his hands and cheekbones due to overusing his Quirk during his confrontation with Endeavor and Shoto. By the time of the Final War, Dabi's new tattered overcoat, boots, and pants were all white, with bracers on the sleeves and a belt on his waist. His new outfit also lacks a shirt underneath. As Dabi continues to use his Quirk wildly, his body is burning away even more. The already burned flesh around the right side of his face is beginning to crumble and fall off, greatly leaving him disfigured. A portion of his jaw, teeth, muscles, and tendons are now visible, and his burns continue to spread around his face.[7][6] As his fire continues to rage on, Dabi's body is now showing his bones and tendons from other parts of his body.[8] In his fight against Endeavor, Dabi purposefully exploded his right arm as he attacked his father. In addition to this, his eyes are now completely consumed within his flames, and cracks of fire have begun to appear along his body as it starts to explode.[9] Toya Todoroki at 3-4 years old when his hair started turning white. Toya discovers his Quirk's new abilities A young Toya who became obsessed with achieving his father's goal, even when his Quirk threatened his health. Toya was very energetic and boisterous as a child, and he wanted to learn as much as he could from his father. Because his father, Enji, had emphasized that he would be the one to surpass All Might since childhood, Toya became obsessed with fulfilling that dream, becoming just as stubborn as his father to become the next number one hero. This drive to surpass All Might was so great that, despite Enji telling him to abandon this goal and focus on something else, Toya refused and continued training, burning himself in the process. Toya described his goal as a fire that his father lit within him that would not go out and that he could not bring himself to ignore, highlighting how his childhood dream became an unhealthy obsession. Rei, however, construed that Toya simply yearned for his father's acknowledgment and proof that he wasn't a failure, something that became more apparent following the birth of Shoto, who had inherited the Quirk and strength that Toya lacked. Toya's obsession would go on to make him further unstable, becoming indifferent to the damage his Quirk training was doing to his own body and also shrugged off concerns from his sister and mother, stating that his younger siblings lived in a different world than him. At one point, Toya even lashed out and attacked his mother and an infant Shoto with his Quirk when his father refused to look at him. Being aware of the Quirk Marriage of his parents, Toya grew bitter towards his mother when she tried to dissuade him from training, claiming that she held just as much responsibility as Enji for why he was born, words that shook Rei to her core. Despite this, he wasn't completely callous towards his family as he had a reasonably good relationship with Fuyumi and Natsuo while growing up, and he also expressed regret for trying to attack Shoto while admitting that he was wrong. Toya died and Dabi is born Swearing vengeance against his father, Toya dies, and Dabi is born After feeling abandoned by Enji, who became focused on Toya's youngest brother Shoto, Toya went through an existential crisis and would cry out of frustration every night. Nevertheless, he continued to train his Quirk despite the harm he would suffer, hoping to surpass Shoto and gain his father's approval. Toya even cried out of pure happiness when he saw his Quirk evolve and his flames become stronger. However, when his father didn't meet with him to see this discovery, Toya broke down emotionally and lost control of his flames, which nearly burned him to death. Even after surviving and waking up from 3 years comatose, however, Toya still went home and wanted to see his father again, yet also desired to make amends with his family for attacking Shoto and his mistreatment of them. After seeing that nothing had changed and that Enji was still obsessed with training Shoto to become his successor, Toya psychologically broke, taking this action that all he ever was to his father was a failed and discarded attempt at reaching his selfish ambitions. This mental breakdown caused Toya to completely abandon his old self and become Dabi, a murderous and pyromaniacal villain obsessed with ruining his father's reputation and paying him back for all the suffering he went through.[6] After renaming himself Dabi, he became a stoic, aloof, confident, and focused individual who rarely shows emotion. While rather crude and violent, he's cautious, choosing to retreat when Mirko arrived to aid Endeavor and made sure not to divulge too much information to Hawks about High-End because of the infancy of their relationship.[10] Overall, Dabi is a highly enigmatic individual who trusts no one, preferring to do things alone and in his way. He also gives off the impression of knowing more about certain people than he lets on. Despite his usual expressionless behavior, Dabi finds joy in establishing himself as a villain fighting what he believes to be false heroes, an ideology proposed by his apparent inspiration, Stain. Dabi is dedicated to Stain's mission and desires to destroy superhuman society, sharing his belief that one person with the necessary conviction can do so.[11] He is shown to share Stain's sentiment that heroes are hypocritical and unworthy of their title, but unlike Stain, he does not seem to seek a society with better heroes, believing that true heroes don't exist. Despite his devotion to the Hero Killer's creed, Dabi does many things that Stain would not, such as attacking innocent bystanders and helping the League get revenge against Overhaul, while also being motivated by his vengeance against Endeavor. In the end, Dabi only uses Stain's ideals to cover his motives and justify his crimes against the hero society Dabi takes pleasure in taunting heroic figures, students, and Pro Heroes alike, sadistically enjoying the pain he inflicts on others, including those he murders.[12] Sometimes, Dabi engages in psychological warfare to unnerve whoever his opposition is while also allowing himself to cool down from his Quirk's effects. Very pragmatic in battle, he is rather savvy about how heroes operate and will exploit their natural tendency to rescue others. He is not afraid of causing collateral destruction, rarely holding back, even if it puts his allies at risk. Dabi is intolerant of most people and can be very derisive, rude, and condescending to everyone with whom he interacts. He insulted Tomura Shigaraki immediately after meeting him and constantly does the same to his allies and enemies but doesn't always do it with the intention of being rude. While the League would go on to develop a strong sense of camaraderie, Dabi has remained distant from them for the most part. He has admitted that he doesn't care for Tomura or the rest of the League and that the value he puts on them comes mostly from their ability to bring his ambitions into reality. This selfish way of thinking establishes Dabi as an extreme sociopath. Dabi's Motivation (Anime) Dabi feeling a fleeting moment of guilt. However, Dabi appears to at least be capable of feeling some remorse. While he had no problem killing the Pro Hero Snatch, the latter's words appeared to have resonated with him, implying that Dabi has sympathy for those that have lost family due to villains, as well as the loved ones of those who he has killed. Yet, this remorse does not extend to his family, as Dabi has frequently contemplated their deaths for revenge against Endeavor. He also appears to have specific standards, as upon seeing Tsukuyomi arrive to save Hawks, he was surprised and disgusted by how the heroes and government were more than willing to bring young students into the Paranormal Liberation War, although he could've just been looking down on them for having to rely on high schoolers. Dabi even displayed some semblance of kindness when he burned down Himiko Toga's old family home while she was feeling distraught over it, though he claims he only did it to twist the knife for the heroes. Despite admitting that he held no care for the other League members, he did encourage Twice to do his best for the League during the war, even hi-fiving him as he ran out to join the battle and took the time to encourage Himiko that they should continue fighting for their cause. This personality aspect shows that Dabi cares enough about his allies to support their morale when needed, even if only for pragmatic and self-serving purposes. Episode 124 Dabi's true maniacal disposition behind his stoic persona. Following the reveal of his identity and his broadcast revealing his childhood, Dabi unveils his far more sadistic and unhinged side, expressing a maddened and gleeful expression upon confronting his father and youngest brother. With his sadism and vengeance fully renewed, Dabi thoroughly relishes any pain he can cause Endeavor, shown when he attacked Nejire Chan with his Quirk and gloated that Endeavor's flames had burned another child's future. His broadcast has also shown his steadfast belief about heroes: they use their good actions to hide and justify all their sins and use the public's admiration of them to keep it that way. He ridicules his father for believing that he could atone for his past abuse of his family and his attempts to change into a better person and does the same when revealing Hawks' father to be a serial criminal who the Flame Hero caught. Although he had previously discarded his birth name, he resumes using it after his battle with his father. Dabi is also aware of his madness and doesn't seem to be against the idea of suicide if it can kill his father or hurt him more, as shown when Dabi attempts to immolate both himself and Shoto in the War.[13] He also expresses how he can't feel anything anymore, not even towards his family, further cementing Dabi's apathy and showing how far he has fallen. He later confirms to Shoto that he's fully intending to go down while taking out Endeavor, knowing that his vengeance would lead him to death from the start and that killing his father while destroying everything he holds dear will be how he leaves his mark on the world.[6] Upon confronting his father again in the Final War, Dabi intends to use his Quirk to self-destruct and destroy everything around him. As a result of this, Dabi's loss of sanity causes him to regress back to his childhood thoughts before he starts to explode, as seen by him telling his father to look at him like he did as a child, having completely lost himself to his desire for vengeance.[9] Tomura Shigaraki (死し柄がら木き弔とむら, Shigaraki Tomura?), real name Tenko Shimura (志し村むら転てん弧こ, Shimura Tenko?), is the main antagonist of the My Hero Academia manga and anime series. He is the leader of the League of Villains, making his first major appearance as one of the main antagonists of the U.S.J. Arc. He was raised by his master, All For One, with the goal to kill All Might, the "Symbol of Peace", and ultimately destroying the society he represents. He soon merged his organization and the Meta Liberation Army to form the Paranormal Liberation Front, becoming its Grand Commander and later inheriting the All For One Quirk. As a result, All For One's vestige seized control of his body and tried to merge the two of them into a new being. Eventually, Tomura was able to thwart his master's attempt at usurping his body and soul, reclaiming autonomy and declaring himself Izuku Midoriya's archenemy. Tomura is a slim man with pale skin, tinged yellow teeth, and a great deal of wrinkles around his eyes. His lips are chapped and uneven, a small mole on the right underneath, with visible scars on his right eye and under his lip. He has messy, grayish-blue hair of varying lengths, the longest clumps reaching to about his shoulders, left hanging over his face in uneven waves. His eyes and mouth are normally obscured, but when visible, they are usually stretched wide in a rather maniacal manner, their bright red irises very small. Interestingly, when Tenko was at the age of five, he bore a striking resemblance to Izuku Midoriya, with his blue hair originally being dark black in color, as well as having gray eyes instead of red. He also had dried patches of skin around his eyes, though his lips were shown to be healthy in appearance. After his Quirk manifested, his appearance changed giving him a wrinkled face, his hair color to a more light blue, and his eyes slowly turned to red after the first manifestation. When in his civilian outfit, he always wears plain red sneakers that are similar to Izuku's, along with black pants which expose his ankles, and a matching long-sleeved v-neck shirt. He also wears a plain black jacket over the top with the hood pulled low over his face to hide his identity, and carries one of his disembodied hands in his pocket. His villain Costume sports fourteen embalmed hands, all positioned so they're holding onto him on different parts of his body. These hands were taken from dead individuals and embalmed by Kyudai Garaki, who gave them a zombie-like grayish-blue color and attached to their bases a golden box with two holes drilled into the bottom. Each pair of these hands originally belonged to an individual killed by Tomura during the time his Quirk first manifested: the one on his neck is his mother's; on his arms, his grandfather's; on his forearms, his grandmother's; on his wrists, his sister's; and the ones on his chest and shoulders are from two unnamed street punks he killed. The hand that holds and hides Tomura's face, which he sometimes keeps in his pocket, is his father's left hand, called "Father" by him. The right one was accidentally destroyed by him, so Kyudai had to make one to hold on the top of Tomura's head; this hand is connected to his mother's pair through two red cords and later revealed to be from his paternal grandmother, Nana Shimura. Almost all of the hands have been either destroyed, lost, or discarded; only Nana's hand remains which he uses as his mask. For the rest of the outfit, Tomura just wears his regular black clothes, bar the jacket. He also used to wear red tennis shoes before they too were destroyed. After All For One's arrest, Tomura's hair has grown longer, and he adopts a hooded leather coat that he wears over his costume. He also added two additional red cords to connect the hands on his shoulders to the hands on his chest. During his fight with Re-Destro, Tomura's left hand was crushed, leaving only his ring and pinky fingers. After the Revival Celebration, Tomura wore a formal suit underneath a red coat with a fur collar similar to Overhaul's, and a temporary leg brace. His right arm and hand were bandaged after having unleashed the destructive true strength of his Decay Quirk, and he wore an orange brace (black in the anime) fitted with prosthetic fingers for his left hand. After his Quirk awakened, his hair has also changed color once again, from light blue to pure white. During the events of My Hero Academia: Heroes: Rising, Tomura wore a dark red trench coat along with the brace for his left hand, although he is depicted with his original clothes and hair color (likely due to the anime staff not having an adaptation of his updated design for him at the time). By the time the Heroes raid the Jaku General Hospital, Tomura wore a black bodysuit with several mechanical enhancements similar to that of Nine's. He also dons X-Less' red cape once he finally awakens from his deep slumber, although the top part of his body suit was destroyed in his battle with Endeavor and his cape was completely incinerated. Tomura also now possesses small holes in his hands as a result of acquiring the "All For One" Quirk. It's also shown he lost his skinny figure in the process and gained a more muscular physique, and his left prosthetic fingers were replaced with a bio-mechanical device. In the anime, the scarring that was caused by Decay during his fight with Re-Destro remains on his right arm, leaving most of it red and cracked. After the Paranormal Liberation War, his body begins to break apart as a cost of overusing All For One with an incomplete body, resulting in cracks and scars protruding all along his arms and neck, stretching down to his stomach. His eyes also become white and faded when All For One is in control. During the fight against Star and Stripe, in which the consciousnesses of Tomura and All For One have begun to fuse into one being, he sports a black formal suit, with sneakers, and a long flowing cloth draped around his neck; the suit representing All For One's desire to present himself properly, and the latter for Tomura's general uncleanliness. He also wears a fingerless black brace on his left hand, and his hair begins to grow long and flowing during this event. In the aftermath of the fight however, most of this outfit has been destroyed and reduced to only his pants, though he later dons a new cape. During the Final War, Tomura now possesses the ability to transform his left hand into a grotesque and heavily deformed clump of countless, writhing fingers that branch off one another and vary in size, which is a result of the Quirk Singularity, as his body is now adapting to his vast amount of Quirks. During the conflict, he is hit by Katsuki Bakugo's Howitzer Impact: Cluster, scarring the right side of his face and burning off a portion of his hair, giving him a partial resemblance to All For One. Due to the accumulating damages he received by the Heroes while under the effects of Erasure and the result of the Quirk Singularity, Tomura's body morphs itself into an absolute defense form, which is a much larger and bulkier tone, with swollen fingers and hands covering his torso and legs. His left arm is also much larger than before, the tips of his fingers and thumb taking on the appearance of his deceased family's heads. Hands have also grown out from the back of his head and neck, clinging to his face and covering his mouth. When Erasure was undone, Tomura's body exploded, undoing the metamorphosis and resulting in his original personality re-emerging from within, molting out of the defense form and reverting his body back to his prime state. Tomura Shigaraki is a person with a very twisted, malevolent, and warped personality, that he is considered to be the dark mirror image of Izuku Midoriya. He doesn't care for his or almost anyone else's life, having no qualms about performing evil deeds like murdering innocent people.[2][3] Tomura was initially perceived to be a "man-child": arrogant, selfish, dependent, and demanding, becoming angry if things didn't go his way and likening reality to some sort of video game. Unlike his mentor, Tomura lacks subtlety, preferring to eliminate problems through force. Much like a child, Tomura seemed unable to cope with his own feelings, instead lashing out and abusing both others or himself, tearing at his own neck when he becomes frustrated. This particular meltdown stems from the abuse he suffered from his father and being alone during his childhood, with All For One claiming that it represented his suppressed urge to kill and destroy.[4] A very irritable person at the beginning of the series, Tomura would learn to be more patient and self-controlled in subsequent appearances, as a consequence of multiple failed plans and All For One's arrest. Tomura is proud of the League of Villains, wanting to prove that his organization has the necessary power to shake society and taking pleasure in mocking those standing in his way. He doesn't tolerate others making light of the League's name and loathes the idea of certain personalities joining him, as was the case with Dabi and Himiko Toga at the beginning, which was made worse by the fact that they were inspired by Stain, who had previously refused membership and overshadowed Tomura's Nomus in terms of media exposure after the Hosu Incident.[3] For similar reasons, he looked down on the Shie Hassaikai for their intentions of ruling the underworld over the League. In the end, however, Tomura can set his pride aside in order to do whatever is needed to accomplish his goals, adopting Stain's ideology to enlist more members to his cause and forming a deal with the Shie Hassaikai for the development of the Quirk-Destroying Drug. Initially, Tomura seemingly caused destruction just for the sake of it and felt directionless about the League's path forward after Stain's arrest. It would take a fateful meeting with Izuku in a mall for him to develop an epiphany and become aware of his true convictions: to crumble society through All Might's death. Tomura always had a desire to kill All Might, but out of an impulsive expression of anarchy towards a society that hurt him and caused his mental instability. After hearing from Izuku, Tomura realized that All Might is what he hates about both Izuku and Stain, wishing to see them, as well as society as a whole, lose their Symbol of Peace.[5] Following All Might's retirement and during the League of Villains' encounter with the Meta Liberation Army, Tomura's convictions grew from crippling society to completely destroying it, apparently as a result of an innate sense of pain and suffering caused by his past memories. By Tomura's own admission, he hates everything that breathes, displaying an extreme form of nihilism. Despite Tomura's general disgust of life, there are a select number of people he holds in high esteem. He has a close relationship with his mentor, All For One, the one person who came for his aid when he found himself alone and lost as a child. Tomura holds a great amount of respect and attachment for All For One, always referring to him as "Sensei"/"Master" and being concerned for his well-being.[6] Incidentally, Tomura happens to carry All For One's family name (Shigaraki), symbolizing a relationship close to father and son. Tomura also had Kurogiri as a trusted confidant and adviser, despite treating him harshly at times. Kurogiri's capture was noted to have made Tomura upset as the latter valued the former's company and abilities. Aside from those two and Kyudai Garaki, who all had a hand in raising him, Tomura initially appears rather distant towards his other allies in the League, however he has shown to genuinely care about them in his own ways. He bonded with Spinner over their shared love of video games, to the latter's surprise,[7] he cared about them enough to prioritize their comfort once he obtained the necessary finances, and became enraged when Overhaul killed Magne and destroyed Mr. Compress' arm. Beforehand, when Kurogiri labelled the other League members as disposable pawns, Tomura corrects him by saying that they are instead valued allies.[8] Tomura has displayed both faith in the League's capabilities and trust in them to do right by him and their group, as seen when he confided in Himiko and Twice before appointing them to aid Overhaul (knowing they would intentionally sabotage the Hassaikai from within, even without his orders).[9] Furthermore, when Himiko questioned Tomura on his newfound goal to destroy everything, he revealed that his allies are exceptions, saying that he always has room for them and their goals while also telling them to live life however they see fit. This proves that Tomura has developed a true form of care towards his allies, even if he only seldom shows it.[10] This further sets Tomura apart from All For One as he actually has goals and desires beyond himself, and genuinely values his allies, while All For One sees his "friends" as nothing more than disposable tools. His exclamation that he "won't be corrupted" by his master's influence implies that, while Tomura is potentially more dangerous and destructive than All For One, the latter is far more darker and evil for caring about nothing but himself. As a child, Tenko was shown to be relatively normal, even kind and compassionate. He held a great love for his family and a strong desire to become a hero someday, not unlike Izuku. However, he was also psychologically fragile from the constant abuse he suffered from his hero-hating father, being terrified of his mere presence. Because of this oppressive upbringing and the inaction from the rest of his family, Tenko's mind eventually snapped due to his Quirk manifesting and destroying his household. At first, Tomura expressed heavy remorse for accidentally killing his family upon losing control of his newfound Quirk. The severed hands that Tomura wears all over himself are the only physical remnants of his dead loved ones, claiming that they make him feel simultaneously sick and calm.[10] Despite his sadness, Tomura experienced a partial relish in his family's demise since he considered them responsible for letting him suffer at his father's will. By Tomura's own admission, he felt cathartic pleasure while ending Kotaro's life as retaliation for his abusive treatment.[11] During his fight with Re-Destro, Tomura overcame his past shackles of guilt after getting his memories back and now looks forward to the end of society, using his childhood feelings to further fuel his hatred.[12] Despite his past, however, Tomura holds no hatred towards his family, with the exception of his father and paternal grandmother. This is shown when he assured his sister in his visions that he wasn't mad at her for framing him and also assured his mother that he was fine while turning back into a child in front of her, proving that a part of Tomura still cares about his family. However, he was willing to reject their pleas in order to continue the pursuit of his evil conquest, showing that he won't let them hinder his goals. After gaining the power of All For One, as well as the enhancements to his body, Tomura begins showing traits similar to that of his master, such as a condescending and mocking demeanor, along with a terror-inducing presence and a desire to steal any Quirk that piques his interest, such as One For All or Star and Stripe's New Order. Regardless, he still maintains his nonchalant yet menacing attitude during battle and is capable of showing a savage anger towards his enemies, as seen during his fight against Izuku and Eraser Head. Even after having been incinerated and inches away from death, Tomura refuses to give up and vows to destroy the hero society that has caused him so much suffering, believing that his sheer power and determination would see him through.Despite feeling grateful towards All For One, Tomura outright states to him that he wishes to carve his own legacy and become even greater than his master. However, Tomura quickly begins to detest All For One after learning that his true goals were to use his body as a vessel and take it over permanently. Tomura even went as far as to try and attack All For One's vestige and later refused to be his master's "pawn" whilst trying to regain control of his body. As their time sharing the same consciousness continues, Tomura has shown to have entered a state of identity crisis, being unsure on whether he's actually Tomura Shigaraki, All For One, or even Tenko Shimura. This is shown to be a result of Tomura and All For One's wills merging together, with the elder Shigaraki summarising that they will combine to become a new evil entity altogether, with Tomura's hatred accelerating the process. Despite this, Tomura still continues to fight his former master's control, unwilling to let this happen. By the time of the Final War, Tomura and All For One's minds have nearly melded together as one, creating an entity that features a mix of Tomura's nihilism and desire to destroy everything, and All For One's will to use his power to rule over all. However, deep within the vestige lies another entity, that of Tomura's previous form as a young Tenko. During their first encounter in the vestige world, Izuku revealed that he could hear a crying child deep within Tomura, and later after the Star and Stripe fight, Tenko is shown to be surrounded by an onslaught of hands, thinking about Izuku. During the fight against the Heroes, Lemillion unintentionally causes Tenko's personality to emerge after he claims he doesn't have any friends, which Tomura furiously denies, bringing up his childhood friends Mikkun and Tomo, and his pet dog Mon. This suggests that a part of Tomura still wants to be saved and that his previous scared and lonely self isn't completely gone. Despite that, Tomura affirms that he and Tenko both have the same goal upon reclaiming his body from All For One: the destruction of hero society. "Tenko" was representative of his origin that he implanted deep within All For One's vestige as a means of winning back control of himself and the All For One Quirk. He also reveals at this time that he has no need for One For All, and that his previous obsession with stealing it was just a forced extension of his master's will. Even if a part of him is still in pain, Tomura sees the rest of the world as no different from the abusive house he grew up in and will stop at nothing to eradicate everything associated with it, claiming that this will be the only thing that will grant him salvation.
