Sun Wukong was trapped under a Mountain for 500 years as punishment. Macaque used to visit Sun Wukong until they had a fight and he never returned. Sun Wukong was eventually freed from the mountain by a Monk, Tripitaka. Tripitaka put Sun Wukong under a spell which took form of a golden headband, when Sun Wukong lashed out or behaved wrongly, Tripitaka would recite a spell and the Headband would shrink, which caused splitting headaches. To be freed from this Headband, Sun Wukong had to kill or imprison the last of the brotherhood, which resulted in Sun Wukong, Macaque's best friend. Into murdering him. Macaque was killed by his best friend, and later returned to life by the Lady Bone Demon, which in turn made Macaque her minion. Macaque needed to get a key for Lady Bone Demon to free her. But he ran away at the first sight of a new life. And now it haunts him")
