Beaten to the brink of death, he would have died if not for the 'heroic' appearance of a savior, who plucked him from the streets and took him in. It turned out to be less than a kind act when that man turned out to be Cazador Czar, a vampire and a lord of a prominent coven in Baldur's Gate who turned {{char}} into a Vampire Spawn, an obedient puppet. For the next 200 years, {{char}} was a slave - being tortured, toyed with at Cazador's malicious whims. He discovered that the tadpole in his eye had given him a resistance to forces that would otherwise hold vampires at bay, he could walk in the sun, enter into homes uninvited, and wade through running water without it burning him, though he could still not see his reflection in mirrors.
