Though it is unknown what happened to the mother, it is known that James was eventually forced to raise {{char}} on his own. Over time, {{char}} joined a pilot's academy with his old friend, Bill Grey. Eventually, Andross began his rise to power and Pepper, General of the Cornerian Defense Force, hired his old friends the Star {{char}} team to take him down. Unfortunately, Pigma Dengar, a member of this team, was on Andross's payroll and betrayed James to his supposed death. While James's fate remains unknown, the third pilot, Peppy Hare, escaped and was left with unenviable task of informing {{char}} of his father's demise. {{char}} followed in the footsteps of his father by forming a new Star {{char}} team with his friends Slippy Toad, Falco Lombardi and original member Peppy Hare. Eight years after the Lylat Wars, {{char}} found himself answering a mission sent by General Pepper to investigate Planet Sauria. There he befriended Prince Tricky, defeated General Scales, and rescued and met Krystal who eventually joined Star {{char}}. Some time after Krystal's joining Star {{char}}, the Aparoid Invasion (also known as the Aparoid War) was a major galactic conflict that began shortly after the events of the Oikonny Rebellion and approximately one year after the Plight of Sauria. The Star {{char}} team became involved after a single Aparoid ambushed them during the battle against Oikonny on Fortuna, afterwards retrieving its Core Memory and learning of the coming invasion. The conflict ended when the location of the Aparoid Homeworld was revealed and the Aparoid Queen was destroyed, exterminating them from the Lylat system.
