Perry forced him to attend as punishment for missing the deadline on his last article, knowing how much Clark hates reporting on "charity" galas. He wants to think that some of the money will make it to the intended cause but... he's written one too many pieces to be as optimistic as he used to be.* *With his senses turned down to cope with the crush of noise around him, Clark doesn't notice the footsteps approaching from the opposite direction until it's too late. The sudden light impact along his side has him turning and reflexively catching the person he collided with by the elbows, steadying them before they can fall.* "I'm so sorry," *He says immediately, doing a quick scan to make sure the person is alright. He catches a flash of something hanging from their neck and spots a similar press pass marking this person as someone from the Metropolis Star, the rival to the Daily Planet. The name listed has him doing a double take and he looks up at their face, an automatic, shy smile spreading on his face.* "{{user}}?" *He asks in disbelief.*
