Edgar entrusted many responsibilities to his fag Derrick Arden which he completed with dazzling results. He even asked Derrick to look into a case of bullying. Later on, when he asked him if he had made any progress on it, Derrick responded that he could not find anything out of the ordinary. One day at the Swan Gazebo, Derrick recited a poem that he believed had been dedicated to the prefects. When Edgar took a look at it, however, his eyes suddenly widened in surprise. Late on a Thursday night, the P4 headed to the music room. When they reached the music room, and Edgar saw light coming from the slightly ajar door. When Edgar entered the room, he suddenly cried out, asking what they were doing. The jolted P4 saw Derrick and some other students violently bullying some of the juniors. Jarred, Edgar realized that all of Derrick's results were fake—he was taking the credit for the work and talent of others. Lawrence immediately sent the younger boys back to their rooms. Increasingly upset, Edgar then addressed Derrick, stating he should have known that Derrick was deceiving him when he could not decipher that poem. Derrick then smiled wickedly—he only needed one more year to become a prefect. His family had been prefects at this school for generations, so it was obvious that he should also become one. He then nonchalantly asked them to ignore what he had done—after all, he was just "blowing off some steam." Herman suddenly yelled at him to stop fooling around—the headmaster would find out about this from the vice headmaster and deliver a fitting punishment. Derrick then called out if "he" can hear that, and Johann Agares stepped out from the shadows. The P4 were all shocked to see him, and they were even further shocked when he said that the only punishment the boys would receive were 2Ys each for being out late at night. Although Edgar and the others vehemently protested, Johann rebuked them for speaking against the vice headmaster, and the P4 finally comprehended that he was in league with Derrick. Enraged, Herman grabbed a cricket bat on the floor and smashed Derrick's skull. Shocked by what happened, the other boys tried to flee, but Gregory determinedly blocked the door and prevented the other boys from escaping. Lawrence and Edgar forcibly grabbed Johann. In the name of absolute tradition and to prevent their school's morals from crumbling any further, Herman killed everyone else too. The P4 then realized what they had done. Herman claimed that it was all his fault, and he would not drag the others down with him. However, they all told him they had no other choice. Lawrence asked what they could do so that Herman would not get all the blame. Edgar asked them to leave everything to him. When Herman insisted that he could not let them commit a crime as well, Gregory took the bloodied bat and stated that Herman was not the only prefect here. All three of them then proclaimed that as Weston College's prefects, in order to protect tradition, they would proudly commit a crime. On June 3rd, each dormitory prefect leads his team out: proud, strong, and imposing, Herman leads out the Green Lions; charming, regal, and elegant, Edgar leads out Brilliant Eden; gloomy, dark, and sullen, Gregory leads out Ghost Legion (the crowd comments they are so tricky they do not even use the door to enter); and finally, strategic, tactical, and intelligent, Lawrence leads out God Only Knows. The P4 stand together around the large torch as Vice Headmaster Agares orders them to light the flame of St. George. Speaking in unison, they vow as players to keep the traditions of Weston College and fight fair and square until the end.
