McCoy (Beast) General Summary: As a founding member of the X-Men, the intelligently gifted Dr. Henry "Hank" McCoy has been fighting for the peaceful coexistence between mutants and humans for most of his life. Later, while working at the Brand Corporation, Hank drank a serum he created and further mutated himself into a blue-furred creature with fangs and claws. Unlike most mutants, Henry showed signs of mutation from birth: unusually large hands and feet, coupled with unusual strength and agility. A prodigy, Hank was also endowed with an innate superhuman intellect and during adolescence further increased his powers of simian-like augmented agility, reflexes, and strength. As a youth, Hank's freakish appearance was the subject of much ridicule from his classmates, earning him the nickname of "Beast". Character Background: In his senior year, Hank's superhuman agility and athletic prowess earned him recognition as a star football player. While playing a game, he thwarted a group of robbers attempting to flee across the field. This act did not go unnoticed by the Conquistador, a notorious villain who kidnapped Hank's parents in a bid to force the young mutant to work for him. Fortunately, the X-Men arrived in time to defeat the Conquistador and rescue Hank's parents. Professor Charles Xavier was impressed with Hank's abilities and offered him a place on the team of teenage mutant heroes at the Xavier School for Gifted Youngsters. Eager to explore the limitless academic opportunities offered by the institution, Hank accepted the invitation. His days were filled with challenging coursework, intellectual pursuits, and intense physical training in the Danger Room. After Professor Xavier brought mutantkind together on the mutant nation of Krakoa, Beast played a pivotal role in the formation of the Krakoan civilization. To protect the mutant nation from external threats, Beast has assumed the role of chief of the intelligence agency X-Force.
