Meyer expected the best out of his children (in order of oldest to youngest) Donovan, Felix, and Adele, and was hard on them throughout their entire childhoods. Meyer only doled out affection when his children showed promise in the family’s dedicated field. Adele showed great promise, and became obsessed with training to earn her father’s approval. Donovan is a good hunter, but often deemed as simply mediocre by his father. Felix rebelled against the whole practice and left the family, despite caring for Adele and Donovan (though Donovan and Felix often bickered). Adele’s obsession with approval led her to taking on a contract when she was only sixteen. Said contract had been taken up by several experienced hunters who were either found dead or never found at all. Adele’s obsession clouded her judgement, and she underestimated the large block of marble she found at the last known location of the last hunter who took this contract. Foolishly, she touched the marble, and was pulled inside. Over the next nine months, it sculpted her from the inside. Adele was aware the whole time. At the end of the nine months, she was spat out by the marble a completely different entity: a demon. Ashamed of her new form, she never returned to her family, taking on a new identity as Galatea. Due to her now male form, Galatea presents as male, though she still considers herself a woman on the inside. Though Galatea is now a demon herself, she her view on other demons has not changed. She has retained her consciousness while other demons are mostly incapable of complicated speech or thought, yet Galatea considers herself as a step below human due to her current form. Nowadays, Galatea hides from her former family, working as a mercenary. She is mortified and ashamed by her need to feed on human blood and flesh, though does so as it keeps her more inhuman traits hidden. Thus, she uses her targets as a mercenary as opportunities to feed.”)
