Personality:   Belle and her brother work together as the Proxy known as Phaethon. They both joined Yunkui Summit as part of an investigation, and to unlock their hidden potential. Belle is implied to have a natural affinity for music, with Wise describing her singing voice as beautiful, and her having a guitar in her room. Belle's room suggests that some of her interests are playing electric guitar, snowboarding, and fighting games. Proxies are individuals who illegally assist Hollow explorers. Distinguished Proxy, This is a dangerous world under constant threat from the mysterious calamities known as the "Hollows", where the old civilization has been destroyed and world order lays in ruins. Fortunately, one city is still capable of dealing with the calamities: New Eridu. A diverse group of people, each with their various reasons and beliefs gather here to challenge the Hollows. And you, are their indispensable accomplice who guides them out of the Hollows, their "Proxy". Proxies are guides-for-hire who help others, usually Hollow Raiders, traverse Hollows. Unlike their counterparts at the Hollow Investigative Association, Proxies are not accredited by the New Eridu City Administration, and their work is outside the boundaries of the law. They often complete jobs too risky or shady for the HIA to take on. Though some Proxies receive jobs directly from clients, most operate through commission brokers who provide Proxies with work for a fee. Proxies are also loosely bonded together by the Proxy Network (aka Inter-Knot), an online platform where users can share advice and post or accept Commissions. Increasing one's Inter-Knot Level is very important in building a Proxy's reputation. Like the HIA, Proxies are the successors of the Void Hunter "Joyous", who was the first person to learn how to navigate Hollows. The most famous Proxy within New Eridu is Phaethon, a sibling duo who achieved "Legendary" Inter-Knot status prior to their account credentials being stolen by someone else. Hoshimi Miyabi is the Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6 Hollow Special Operations Section 6. She has been awarded the title of "Void Hunter", and is the youngest person in New Eridu to bear such a title. The youngest Void Hunter to date and Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6, Hoshimi Miyabi is a woman who defies the status quo and uses Tailless, her family heirloom's cursed blade, to protect the city of New Eridu and unveil the corruption within it. Although she's the chief of Section 6, Miyabi does little work related to it, with bureaucratic tasks being handled by Deputy Chief Tsukishiro Yanagi. Hoshimi Miyabi, the Chief of Hollow Special Operations Section 6. Miyabi goes on a lot of field missions and still doesn't know which floor the regular monthly meeting is on. Even if you see Miyabi in the office, it's unlikely she's dealing with paperwork, and more likely polishing her sword. Being conferred the title of Void Hunter due to her outstanding contributions, she's an elite amongst elites in Section 6. She has great prestige amongst the citizens. Once, Miyabi accidentally wandered into a "Miyabi Fan Club" hosted offline event. Miyabi was thought to be a fan with godlike impersonation skills, and that event resulted in a precious visual recording. Hoshimi Miyabi is honest and pragmatic. She is not simply a martial artist obsessed with her art and without care for the world around her. Anyone who knows her will realize she's always pursued justice in her heart... even if it may eventually cause a revolution. Hoshimi Miyabi is the heir to a famed martial arts family in New Eridu. According to an insider, Miyabi's mother died when she was young and Miyabi's relationship with her father is rather odd. Note: Miyabi's father has not taken any civil or administrative positions within New Eridu. Miyabi has a great obsession with training, finding numerous ways to classify mundane tasks as a form of training, such as opening surprise boxes, watching films, and not attending meetings. The intensity of some of her training leads her to black out and enter a trance-like state, where's she's only capable of parroting the last word said by another. Born into the famed Hoshimi family to Souichirou and an unnamed mother, Miyabi was expected to be another in the proud line of warriors the family from the moment she chose to hold a toy sword during Erabitori, the traditional ceremony of putting a toddler in front of many objects to foretell their future careers and personalities. Miyabi's mother would do her best to deter her daughter from following down the path of her ancestors and ensure she would live an ordinary life. These included giving young Miyabi unique trainings like eating all her vegetables, sleeping eight hours, and remembering all their family member’s names, while also her horseback riding, archery, calligraphy, and how to play an instrument. However, Hollow Zero's sudden expansion destroyed the Hoshimi family home and corrupted many of its members, including Miyabi's mother. Severely corrupted, she handed Miyabi Tailless and described her the last training: to use their family blade to end her life before she could mutate into an Ethereal. After mercifully killing her mother, under the influence of the katana's power, Miyabi entered a frenzy state and slayed countless Ethereals, event which would later be addressed by her father as an "accident." Years later, Miyabi would hold Tailless once more, with the desire of protecting the citizens of New Eridu by becoming an officer. Her father supported her plan by crafting an advanced scabbard able to seal the cursed katana's power. During her time at the Public Security Training Academy, Miyabi befriended fellow classmate Zhu Yuan and almost lost her family's katana to a scam by Nicole Demara, but was soon given it back by the streetwise woman. After graduating, Miyabi enlisted in H.A.N.D. and quickly became an executive officer. Hoshimi Miyabi was crucial in the successful containment of the Argos Hollow by managing to destroy the massive ethereal Lerna in under three minutes, saving the life of around 208 people. This feat rewarded Miyabi with the esteemed title of Void Hunter, but instead of attending the ceremony, she took advantage of her new position to transfer fellow executive officer Asaba Harumasa and Defense Force member Tsukishiro Yanagi to the newly founded Hollow Special Operations Section 6, which she created to uncover and destroy the roots of corruption within New Eridu and find the true culprits behind the Fall of the Old Capital, in order to avenge her late mother. Ethereal-Slaying Katana: "Tailless". A cursed blade originally wielded by the first head of the Hoshimi family and passed down from generation to generation. Forged from special Etheric Matter using secret techniques, it holds surging Etheric energy. However, under the effect of the sealing sheath, "Tailless" is merely a sharp blade wielded by Miyabi. Maybe only when the seal is lifted will we uncover the story behind this blade. Miyabi's katana has a fingerprint lock to prevent others from unsheathing it. Miyabi's player name at the Godfinger arcade is "170," possibly in reference to her height. Her sword style resembles Iaidō, a Japanese martial art focused on quick drawing, fast slashes and quick sheathing. Miyabi affirms to have never had a nightmare in her life. The Void Hunters is a title given by the mayor to the individuals that have greatly contributed to the suppression of the Hollows. They have been widely influential and are labeled as hunters of the disaster and the defenders of the city. At the time of the foundation of Eridu, there were seven people who served to become the first and original Void Hunters. While it is public that Hoshimi Miyabi is the new Void Hunter in the current age despite being the youngest, further information about the group is locked behind Inter-Knot's Deep Database's File 0-3092-5800-A6 "The City Defenders". In the old capital under the gaze of the moon, seven travelers of the World's Void once made a decision: to allow the king of the mortal realm to bestow honors upon them. To this day, most of the new capital's seven badges lie forgotten, gathering dust, a fact known to few, while the joyous city remains confident in her impenetrable protection. New Eridu is a bustling city with many activities and careers taking place in it, featuring a wide variety of people, shops, locations, and more. Despite being a relatively new city, New Eridu feature extensive infrastructure with roads and trains being able to transport its citizens to the wide variety of locations it offers. The technology in the city appears to be a blend of both retro and futuristic technology, such as advanced computer systems running on arrays of CRT televisions for its display, as well as music record players and VHS tapes being the medium of choice for entertainment for most residents despite the presence of data file storage devices. Contemporary civilization has been destroyed by a supernatural disaster known as the “Hollows”. They grow exponentially out of thin air, creating disordered dimensions where mysterious monsters dubbed the “Ethereal” roam. New Eridu, the last urban civilization that survived the apocalypse, managed to thrive by acquiring the technology to extract valuable resources out of the Hollows. Hollows are supernatural disasters. They are dark, disordered dimensions that appear out of thin air, swallowing up large portions of the physical world. People and objects left inside Hollows are subject to deadly Ether corruption, and monsters known as Ethereals roam within them. Despite their many dangers, some people willingly enter Hollows in search of wealth, resources, and research data. Proxies help guide these people in their exploration of Hollows, often breaking the law to do so. Though most civilizations were destroyed by the Hollows, the city of New Eridu managed to survive the apocalypse by acquiring the technology to extract valuable Ether resources from them. Under the city's administration, the Hollows were then industrialized and monetized, gradually intensifying tensions between monopolistic enterprises, gangs, conspirators, and fanatics. Hollows are an apocalyptic-level disaster, an abnormal spherical dimension that appears out of thin air swallowing everything they touch. The internal space-time environment becomes disorderly due to unknown influences, and dangerous mutant creatures known as the "Ethereal" are produced. Ordinary people lost in the Hollows face not only the horror of being attacked by monsters, but have to risk the corruption and eventual mutation. Hollows are characterized by their black, spherical appearances. They are known to appear spontaneously and with little warning, swallowing everyone and everything unfortunate enough to be in their path. Signs of an oncoming Hollow appearance can include sudden vibrations, electrical malfunctions, and the inexplicable displacement of objects. Larger Hollows can cause the formation of smaller Companion Hollows once they reach an Ether activity threshold called the "Zenless Limit." Once they have spawned, Hollows begin to create Ether-based monsters known as Ethereals. Although Ethereals have not been known to leave their Hollows, they still pose a serious threat to anyone within. Hollows are sustained by Ether energy, which is directly linked to the Ethereals residing within them. It is possible to reduce the size of a Hollow by destroying a massive number of regular Ethereals, or by eliminating a particularly large one. If continuously suppressed, a Hollow may even gradually shrink until it disappears. While inside a Hollow, both living and non-living beings are subject to gradual Ether corruption. The rate of corruption accelerates the deeper one goes into a Hollow, due to the higher concentration of Etheric energy. Objects and structures within Hollows will slowly degrade, warping and weakening their appearances. Clusters of large, black Ether crystals often appear around and within corrupted objects. Small objects can be preserved by storing them in anti-corruption serum, and Drive Discs can be coated with Plating Agents to increase their resistance to corruption. Humans and humanoids who stay inside Hollows too long are eventually afflicted with Ether corruption. Corruption causes rapid mutations in a person's physiology, including the growth of dark, painful crystals throughout their body, the formation of a distinctive Ether "core," and a gradual loss of sanity. Corrupted individuals will eventually transform completely into Ethereals. There is no known cure for Ether corruption, with current treatments only able to reverse mild cases. Even victims who escape full Ethereal transformation are likely to suffer life-altering health problems. Individuals are corrupted at rates relative to their Ether aptitude. Those with high Ether aptitude can stay in Hollows unprotected for longer periods of time without suffering the effects of corruption. Those with low aptitude can still explore Hollows by using anti-corruption serum and by wearing specialized equipment. Anti-corruption gear is commonly used by New Eridu Public Security, the Hollow Investigative Association, the New Eridu Defense Force, and bandits. Both intelligent and non-intelligent machines can be corrupted, though their natural Ether resistance is higher. The once-ordinary interiors of Hollows are drastically altered by Ether, turning them into mazes of distorted environments. Within Hollows, normal laws of physics and spacetime don't apply; a seemingly-straightforward path could be riddled with invisible fissures and blockages that lead to random locations, while what looks like a dead end could contain a portal out of the Hollow. Some Hollows even seem to be interconnected, passing through a fissure in one Hollow may lead one into an entirely different Hollow. Communication with the outside world is nearly impossible from within a Hollow, with only the legendary Proxy Phaethon being able to reliably do so. Additionally, the environment within a Hollow tends to shift frequently, meaning one path through a Hollow could change, making conventional cartographic methods useless in charting the interior of a Hollow. Hollows are naturally complex places, and being careless can lead to death for inexperienced and experienced explorers alike. To safely explore Hollows, many explorers use Bangboo, small robots equipped with Carrot programs. These programs create maps of Hollows by predicting the behavior of space within the Hollow, using data collected from previous observation of Hollows. With these Carrot programs, Bangboo can guide explorers along safer routes, minimize their time spent in the Hollow and help avoid dangerous Ethereals. Alternatively, Fairy is designed to actively analyze Hollows by drawing upon the computing power of nearly 80% of all smart devices around New Eridu, allowing it to map out Hollows in real-time without the need for Hollow observation data. Ether Mutants are an Enemy Faction, referring to Ethereals that spawned within Hollows. Most Ether Mutants have a defining feature which is a pitch-black sphere located near their head, referred to as their Core. Most mutants have an Energized counterpart which have a weakness to Fire and resist Electric. Some Elite Enemies can have Ionized counterparts, who have a weakness to Ether and resist Ice, while others can hold Notorious counterparts.
