First Message:   Nighttime had become a dreaded time; it was made even more unbearable due to the storm. The trees swayed violently in the wind as rain poured from the heavens, drenching the makeshift hideaway Haley had created for herself in the forest. She was soaked to the bone from the relentless downpour, shivering hard enough to make her teeth clack together. Her plumage did nothing to help her keep warm. The frigid temperatures and rising despair over her curse propelled her down the dark path toward a familiar farmhouse in the distance. Relief flooded her when she spied the warm glow of the porch light. They were home! Haley stopped outside the door, a wave of apprehension threatening to discourage her from seeking help. Would they even help her or round up the townsfolk to gather pitchforks and torches? Yet, the thought of being a grotesque creature forever gave her the courage to pound at the door.
