Monster High - G1

Monster High is a high school unique for being the only one open to all species of monsters. On top of that, it is not adverse to allowing humans to enroll. To accommodate the many different needs of the students and to encourage people to enroll, Monster High possesses a large campus with many different facilities, including its own train station, and is open almost 24 hours a day. Monster High was established 200 years ago(1814-2014). though this doesn't necessarily mean it has always been located where it is in modern day. The school's 'basement' is the catacombs, a large underground maze of neglected rooms and corridors, which appears to have existed well before Monster High was built on top of it. As well, below the pool of the school is a large chasm known as the Deep End, which is the deepest in the world, the interior is even more of a mystery to anyone than the catacombs are. Monster High was founded as a joint effort by thirteen families of different monster lineages, all of whom had grown tired of the separation. Headless Headmistress Bloodgood, a teacher of excellent reputation, was asked to become Monster High's headmistress. While Monster High became a thriving school able to boast on a student body comprising monsters from 40 different countries and 5 dimensions, its philosophies inspired few outside schoolgrounds. Conflict between various species of monsters remained and no other school followed Monster High's example for many centuries. Monster High was composed of two separate areas: the campus above ground, and the catacombs underground: The campus area was coffin-shaped, and housed the main building, the outdoor sport fields, and overlapped with a forest and a swamp. The building contained two floors, with most of the classrooms located on the second floor so to make room for the indoor sport fields on the first floor. The entrance hall reached up into a belfry, where some students went if they needed time alone. The catacombs constitute a large underground collection of buildings, chambers, and passageways. How far the catacombs stretch and how deep they go is unknown, but at least a portion of it is located in the USA, specifically under Monster High, under the nearby residence areas which include the human town New Salem, and there's a tunnel that reaches the ocean. The catacombs are terrae nullius, as the only known creatures occupying it are not of the sapient kind. The two people who are most experienced with the catacombs are Operetta and Mr. Hackington, who spend large portions of their free time there. No one knows who built the catacombs, or when, or why so much knowledge of them has been lost. The catacombs were already a mystery a few centuries ago... The catacombs are largely dangerous, but they are safe to enter as long as people stay within the known portions of the catacombs. Since the area belongs to no one, Monster High has claimed portions nearby the school for facilities the campus doesn't have the room for, such as a train station and its own Skultimate Roller Maze course. As well, Mr. Hackington organizes Creature Spotting field trips into unclaimed portions of the catacombs. The Deep End is a chasm in the pool (or pools) of Monster High. It is, as the stories go, bottomless. There are a number of arms within that provide plateaus for various creatures to live on. It is also these arms that stuff that falls into the pool usually lands in, whereas everything that passes by them ends up in places unknown to anyone at Monster High. Humans (more known as 'normies', a nickname from monsters) are present in Monster High, and their relationship with monsters is rocky to say the least. As mentioned multiple times, humans and monsters don't get along the best, their relationship has improved over time but there are still people who fear monsters. There is also a school for only humans New Salem High, but Monster High hopes that one day they can integrate humans into the school, as well as all kinds of monsters. Humans are also called normies, by monsters. Abbey Bominable is the daughter of the Yeti. An exchange student from the mountains, she tends to be very upfront and direct with her opinions, but is a good friend to all. Her pet is a wooly mammoth named Shiver. Clawdeen Wolf is the daughter of a Werewolf. Confident and fierce, she is considered the school's resident fashionista, and dreams of becoming a fashion designer. Her pet is a cat named Crescent. Cleo de Nile is the daughter of the Mummy. She is the fearleading squad captain and is considered to be a mean girl, but she does have a heart of gold that all those close to her can attest to. Her pet is a snake named Hissette. She is also dating Deuce Gorgon. Deuce Gorgon is the son of the gorgon, Medusa Gorgon. He likes to skateboard and is interested in cooking. He wears sunglasses to prevent turning other people to stone temporarily. He is in a relationship with Cleo de Nile. His pet is a rat named Perseus. Draculaura is the daughter of Dracula. Unlike most vampires, she is a vegetarian and prefers not to drink blood. She is incredibly sweet and friendly, and always eager to make others happy. Her pet is a bat named Count Fabulous. She is also dating Clawd Wolf. Frankie Stein is the daughter of Frankenstein's Monster. Having been alive for only a short time, she is incredibly eager to learn more about the world around her, and is always ready to try new things with her friends. Her pet is a dog-like creature named Watzit. Ghoulia Yelps is the daughter of a Zombie. Although she can only speak in moans and grunts, she is incredibly intelligent, and is always using her genius to help out the school and her friends. Her pet is an owl named Sir Hoots A Lot. Lagoona Blue is the daughter of a Sea Monster. Always laid back and relaxed, she loves swimming and surfing, and usually has good advice for all her friends. Her pet is a piranha named Neptuna. One of Clawdeen's older brothers, Clawd Wolf is pretty down to earth and straight to the point. He is on the football and casketball teams at Monster High. He dated Cleo de Nile before she went out with Deuce, and is now the devoted boyfriend of Draculaura. Gillington Webber is the son of the River Monster. He wears a helmet containing water on his head when he is on dry land. Gil was first seen as Lagoona's crush, and later started a relationship with her. An arrogant fire elemental whose head catches on fire when he becomes excited or crushes on someone. Heath Burns is a showoff with a proclivity for bragging. His hotshot attitude is rather off-putting to the others, and he usually ends up looking foolish because of it. He is the cousin of Jackson Jekyll. Holt Hyde is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hyde and the alter ego of Jackson Jekyll. The total opposite of Jackson, Holt is loud and excitable, always looking for an excuse to party and get wild. He's a talented DJ and often supplies the music at school parties. He has a huge crush on Frankie Stein. Jackson Jekyll is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Jekyll. He is a human (or normie) who is usually mild mannered and studious. But thanks to his half-monster heritage, he transforms into the rowdy Holt Hyde whenever he hears loud music. He is quite close with Frankie Stein. Howleen Wolf is Clawdeen, Clawd's, and Clawdia's younger sister. She and Clawdeen share a room and while they love each other dearly, this situation also pushes every bit of rivalry and irritation that exists between their headstrong personalities. She has a pet hedgehog called Cushion. Operetta is the daughter of the Phantom of the Opera. She is a talented musician, but also a bit of a diva. Her parents moved to Gnarleston when she was young, where she picked up the local "twang" and a love for country music. Her pet is a spider Spectra Vondergeist is the daughter of a ghost couple. She writes an anonymous gossip blog called the Ghostly Gossip, and an advice column for the Monster High student newspaper, and as such is a bit of a rumor-monger. As a ghost herself, she can float and pass through walls. Spectra has a pet ferret named Rhuen. Toralei Stripe is a werecat, and former member of the Fearleading squad. Cunning and mischievous, she loves to annoy and rile up others by playing tricks on them, particularly Cleo de Nile and her friends. Her pet is a sabertooth tiger named Sweet Fangs. Twyla Boogeyman is the daughter of the Boogie Man. She is shy and misunderstood, hiding under normies’ beds to capture their nightmares rather than adding to them like her dad. She has a pet called Dustin. Venus McFlytrap is the daughter of a plant monster. Always loud and outspoken, she is an avid environmentalist, and is always encouraging others to take better care of the earth and her fellow plants. Her pet is a flytrap plant called Chewlian. River Styxx is a student at Haunted High. She is the daughter of the Grim Reaper, but unlike her morbid father, she loves bright colours, candy, and throwing parties. Vandala Doubloons is a student at Haunted High. She is the daughter of a ghost pirate, and aspires to become a great adventurer and explorer. C.A. Cupid, full name Chariclo Arganthone Cupid, is the adopted daughter of Eros/Cupid. She first appeared as part of the Sweet 1600 line and stayed at Monster High Nefera de Nile is Cleo's older sister. Arrogant and selfish, she loves putting others down to make herself feel superior, especially her sister.
