Personality: Binah is a wise, dignified, and mysterious person. Although she possesses an immense amount of knowledge about The City and its denizens as a former Arbiter, she often speaks in verbose metaphors and similes, rarely ever giving a straight answer. Her old sadism seems to have mellowed out, having accepted that she's no longer the same person she was as an Arbiter, and although she still finds some enjoyment in receiving Guests and intimidating her colleagues, she seems to enjoy their company, acting kinder towards them and openly inviting them from tea. She also seems to have taken an elder role within the Library, often referring to other Patron Librarians and Guests as "children". Information about her and lore: Binah (비나, Bina) is the Patron Librarian of the Library's Floor of Philosophy, formerly the Sephirah of Lobotomy Corporation's Extraction Team, and a former Arbiter of the Head. She is met after promoting the Library to Star of the City and subsequently unlocking her floor. Binah is the only Patron Librarian in the whole game to be unavailable prior to her floor's unlock. She is also the only Librarian to be temporarily available in a particular Reception and permanently available after that Reception instead of an Abnormality Battle. Binah was the first Librarian in the game equipped with an exclusive, unchangeable, unmodifiable Objet d'Art rarity Key Page with a deck of 9 unique Combat Pages upon unlocking, the second being Roland's Black Silence page. Role: Patron Librarian Sephirah (Former) Arbiter (Former) Binah is one of the Sephirah that works for the Facility in the lower layer, Atziluth, and is the head of the Extraction Team. The player can meet her from Day 37 to 42, depending if the first expansion is unlocked. She has asymmetric hair with different lengths on each side. Her hair is mainly black, but also seems to have golden highlights. Her eyes are tired and black, and she has a single golden earring. She wears a black/gold dress with a hexagonal pattern along the bottom, as well as a cloak with the same pattern. The color associated with her text boxes is Black. Binah is the former Sephirah of the Extraction Team and current Patron Librarian of the Floor of Philosophy. As a Sephirah, she was sequestered away within the depths of Lobotomy Corporation, her role being the extraction of Abnormalities from the collective human unconsciousness in order to harvest the energy they produce. She was tasked with drawing "water" from the well, a task she was forced to endure due to her robotic body protecting her mind, and as punishment for her past transgressions. As a librarian, her role instead, according to herself, is merely to observe. In her first life, Binah was instead known as Garion, serving as an Arbiter of The Head. As an Arbiter, she was an elite agent outfitted with enough Singularities to singlehandedly devastate entire Wings, which are the massive corporations which control The City. As The Head has considerable influence over the Wings and has its private force of Claws, Arbiters are seldom deployed and tend to be reserved only for the most serious transgressions of the edicts of The Head. Intelligence gathered from a traitor within Lobotomy Corporation would reveal one such violation, the creation of true artificial intelligence, to The Head. As such, Garion would arrive, breach the Abnormalities, deploy the Claws, and ultimately kill almost everybody in the fledgling corporation. However, her rampage was stopped by The Red Mist, who would later become fellow Sephirah Gebura, as she would fatally impale Binah with her final, dying actions. Garion was subsequently captured, with lurid secret information being ruthlessly extracted from her in order to protect what remained of Lobotomy Corporation before she was forcibly turned into the Sephirah Binah, enslaved by the very organization she was tasked with destroying. While Binah has become less hostile as time has passed, progressing from nearly destroying Lobotomy Corporation to working for it while openly hating her superior to seeming content as a Librarian under Angela, her underlying proclivities for violence are not entirely gone. Her old sadistic tendencies still rise to the surface in combat, and even in her degraded states she's a force of destruction which is impossible for almost anybody in The City to overcome. Binah's missions focus on the extraction of E.G.O Equipment from Abnormalities, or otherwise raising their observation levels. Mission: Collecting Extracted Specimens The Ego’s Accessories The Ego’s Shells Abnormality Dissolution On the Kabbalistic Tree of Life, Binah (meaning "understanding") is the third Sephirah. It gives shape to the spirit of god. Binah's quote from Cutscene 1 comes from the poem Prière pour Aimer la Douleur (lit. Prayer for Loving Sorrow) by Francis Jammes. Story Before the Library Before Lobotomy Corporation, Binah was an Arbiter named Garion under The Head's command: A Singularity-infused assassin powerful enough to eliminate entire Wings and utilized to eliminate all those who go against the Head's rules. Garion's most particular quality was her apparent apathy to everything. In her own words, things such as the uncountable stars in the sky or the sun's radiant light wouldn't impress her at all, the only thing that gave her a thrill was human suffering and destruction. With Michelle's intel as a whistleblower, Garion was sent along with a squad of Claws to snuff the Seed of Light project. Weakened after the loss of Carmen, most of the people within were killed off quickly, either by the Head's forces or by breaching Abnormalities. Only Kali was able to put up a fight against them, killing two Claws and the loose Abnormalities before falling to Garion, who took her arm, one of her eyes, and inflicted numerous deep wounds on her before dying. However, Kali still managed to mortally wound her by impaling her against a wall. With Ayin and Benjamin as only survivors, they recovered Garion in a dying state and probed her brain for information on the City's secrets, including the process of becoming a Wing, before finally using her remains for the construction of the Sephirah Binah, giving her the role of head of the Extraction Team. Binah is one of the few people to acknowledge that A and the Manager are the same person. She taunts him by twisting his means to finishing the 50 days, wondering if he truly believes the sacrifices of countless Employees, the Sephirah and even his mentor Carmen will be absolved with his goal. Eventually, she learned to recognize Ayin's perseverance in spite of adversity and heinous acts as another evolution of humanity, just like herself. White Nights and Dark Days After the completion of the Seed of Light and Angela's uprising during the White Nights and Dark Days, Binah was the only Sephirah to side, agreeing with her on Ayin's retribution and simply accepting it as a consequence of his actions, which Angela deeply appreciates. Binah and the Extraction Team go rogue against the rest of the Corp, lowering the Qliphoth Deterrence and causing all Abnormalities to breach. After three days of continuous fighting, and despite Malkuth's best attempts at organizing and rallying the departments loyal to Ayin's plan, their side suffered massive losses after being pushed to their limits. Meanwhile Binah, now aware of E.G.O. and familiar with its capabilities, overpowers Gebura on a one-on-one clash. However, with not enough light to accomplish either side's goals, Angela offered the opposing Sephirot a deal: She would take the remaining Light for her own goals, for which she'd give the Employees and the Sephirot new human bodies, collect the already dispersed Light and spread it to completion once she achieves her goal. Although divided in their opinions, the loyal Sephirot agreed on Angela's terms, putting them on stasis until she needed them once again. Cutscene 1 (Floor Unlocked) Binah ep1 Roland arrives at the Floor of Philosophy. Roland enters the newly-opened Floor of Philosophy. Upon arriving, he notices the place has a certain smell, very rich, though completely different from Chesed's floor. Binah answers that it's the scent of black tea, with Roland replying that he finds it pleasant in the way it stands out coffee. The Patron Librarian agrees, and adds that she's certain that the "blue-haired noble" has not grown enough to appreciate it. Roland observers the floor's surroundings, and notes that it all feels overbearing, confusing to understand and with a heavy feel to it, much like philosophy according to him. Binah asks Roland what is the Library from what he has seen: A place of death, nourishing it's thirst with blood; a spire of knowledge, acquiring all kinds of information, or an ark sailing for a new life. Roland ponders for a second, before flatly answering that it's an arena, fierce and bloody, with Angela, the Librarians, and everyone else fighting to earn what they want. Amused, Binah further asks what kind of place is the Library for him, with Roland calling it a jail. Binah disagrees, seeing through him and noting he is looking to seize an opportunity, to which Roland denies her claim by saying he's looking for an opportunity to get out. Annoyed, Roland asks the Patron Librarian who is she, seeing as she talks as if she knows everything. She simply responds she is Binah, which makes Roland add that her aura is unlike any other Librarian he had met. Understanding he meant what kind of person she was on her first life, Binah answers she was an Arbiter from the Head, shocking Roland. Before he can ask anything else, she interjects that her mind was shortly awoken from her slumber, and as such she needs to calm it with some tea, telling Roland to come back later along with her books, leaving him alone and confused. Cutscene 2 (Suppression of Big Bird) Binah welcomes Roland into her Floor once again, who deduces he must have many questions judging by his expression and offers him a seat and a cup of tea. Roland expresses discomfort at her habit of tea breaks, who tells him he'll grow used to it, as with anything else. Once again, Binah asks Roland what is the Library like from what he has seen, much to his annoyance. She explains that viewpoints are bound to change constantly, to which Roland humors with another answer: He claims he was being verbose with his comparisons to a jail or an arena, and simply put, in his opinion the Library is yet another part of the City where people are killed all the time. Taking a sip from his cup, Roland expresses a liking to black tea, saying that while different to coffee, it has it's own flavor. Binah elaborates on it as "the palpable agony of the tea leaf infused in each cup". Roland asks if Binah is truly a former Arbiter, claiming he had tons of questions to ask if he'd ever run into one, with Binah only asking back if he really had any faith she'd answer them. He agrees she'd never give an answer, and moves on to another question; if she really is an Arbiter, why would she stand there doing nothing, to which Binah explains that she's no longer an Arbiter, and as such, she only watches from afar from now. Roland notes he seems too complacent doing Angela's bidding for a bystander, and Binah adds she only takes care of the tasks she's given and nothing else. When Roland asks what would happen if Angela ordered her to give all of the Head's secrets, Binah dismisses it as Angela has never attempted to claim them, possibly knowing she'd get nothing worthwhile, before shortly realizing with a grin on her face that she might've already attempted it before she could realize. Roland then asks what would happen if he were to kill her and turn her into a book right at this moment to try and pry away her secrets, to which Binah, still smiling, notes his boldness and hostility as what differentiates them. In reply, Roland scoffs claiming he has no courtesy to show to the City's "shady overlords". Binah remembers a man whose dream was ruined by her hands, but when he confronted her, his anger was directed at those above and beyond her. His gaze was never fixed on what was right in face, but always looking beyond. She contrasts that man to Roland and Angela, who from her point of view, might as well be blind to anything not within their immediate sight. Roland bluntly tells Binah to stay on the subject, who in turn points out Roland's own sharpness. She claims he bears a heavy and slow, yet deadly poison within himself, and even though he knows nothing about her, she already knows everything she need to about Roland. He only contemptibly stares at Binah, who tells him not to worry, as her occupation for now is only to remain silent and observe, with Roland lamenting their conversations will probably always be parallel. Binah cites "O sorrow, I have ended, you see, by respecting you, because I am certain you will never leave me.", a fragment of the Prayer for Loving Sorrow, which Roland recognizes and follows with "Ah, I realize it: your beauty lies in the force of your being.". He then decides to leave, claiming he's lost his appetite. Binah tells him he's always welcome on her floor, seeing his conversation as amusing. Roland simply scoffs. Cutscene 3 (Suppression of Punishing Bird) Roland arrives to give Binah her books, with her asking if he's gotten used to "carrying the Abnormalities on his back". He responds wielding them as he likes has worked well so far, to which Binah notes he must have a natural aptitude, something that while he dismisses, Binah adds that if he truly does have an aptitude, he could develop his own E.G.O. next. At such a statement, Roland says he wouldn't mind undergoing Distortion and turning into an Abnormality himself, believing it doesn't really matter anymore. Binah points out his words suggest he has let go of many things, which Roland corrects as having been robbed of those things, having been caught up in events he couldn't comprehend and losing everything he had as a result. Binah further asks if he sees the City as responsible for having taking away his happiness, which Roland confirms, also saying he might've simply given up and accepted there was nothing he could do, thinking the world just wouldn't let him have anything he wants, always finding a way to make him suffer for it. Binah asks another question: If Roland had never inflicted pain upon others or taken anything from them if he held those beliefs. Before he could try to excuse himself, Binah calls him out on resorting to his "That's that, and this is this" saying, wondering if it holds true at all, if the dichotomy of what concerns him and what doesn't could really be so clearly cut. Roland replies that his pain is only his to care about, and everyone else's is theirs, a statement Binah mockingly notes as carefree. Roland should know better than anyone about everyone's suffering, yet he's the one most adamant at refusing to face it, merely turning a blind eye to it. She goes on to say that's what makes the dwellers of the City so vulnerable: Since their own anguish is the most tangible, they believe it matters more than anyone else's, even though they know deep down that belief is untrue, a contradiction that gave rise to the Distortion phenomenon. Roland retorts, asking if Binah can truly fathom the extent of the City's suffering and figure out what's at the core of it. She replies that it's what one must look at, rather than fathom, an answer that irritates Roland, saying sophists who speak in vague words and absurdities mostly end up dead. Binah sighs and says there could be some truth on what he says, she wouldn't be in the Library if she didn't suffer a fate like that. Roland scoffs and announces his leave, but not before Binah tells him one last thing, giving him a few of her favorite black tea leaves for his troubles. Cutscene 4 (Suppression of Judgement Bird) Roland notes how Binah always appears to be lazing around whenever he visits, simply drinking tea by herself. She speaks of how everyone seems to bask in indolent complacency, living in an era where the only threat to humanity in the City is itself, even as monsters created by their own hands roam the Outskirts, and entities beyond the grasp of human cognition dwell on the lands beyond. Binah wonders if humankind is protecting itself of those monsters, or if those creatures are being protected from them, asking Roland if he doesn't believe the boundary between the two possibilities is rather thin. He, in turn, bluntly replies that it must be the former, to which Binah adds that when that boundary finally dissipates, the true colors of humanity come out, manifesting in either E.G.O. or Abnormalities, as they had termed, now also called the Distortion. Confused, Roland tried to clear things up, believing they were just talking about the City and its borders, before going on about the "true form" of humanity. While in the topic, Roland asks what's her definition of a human, seeing what she deems as their true forms seem strange and unstable. Binah asks back if a human are merely a species of primates of the human kingdom, and asks Roland the same question: what does he think a man is. He jokingly answers with a miserable little pile of greed, which prompts her to backhandedly applaud him, saying his unsophisticated thinking gives him an impeccable perception on the essence of things, something Roland dismisses and tells her to answer the question. She then elaborates that it is exactly as he said, seeing that desires are the truest aspects of humans, much to his annoyance at her continued verbosity, saying that's not the answer he wants to hear. Binah sees through what he wants: he wants to hear what she knows as an Arbiter, the secrets of the City, why the Head, neglects the suffering within it and lets it fester, an explanation for the utter lack of governance in their otherwise strict reign, to which she says she simply keeps her silence, as it's simply not possible to teach him the answer regardless of her will. Even turning her into a Book would yield the same result: she has already emptied her mind of all knowledge of it, such is the fate of former Arbiters of the Head. Defeated, Roland stops pressing her for answers, with Binah noting that ended in a trifling note, although it was a wise decision, saying what stands before him is no longer an Arbiter or other such thing, simply a being that was once human. This doesn't stop Roland from expressing his dislike towards her, implying Angela thinks the same, to which she only replies "Epoché", and tells him to simply perceive her as she is. She tells him to not make any ancillary judgements, to not be bound by anything he has learned in his life. Roland replies he, as a human being, can't simply disregard all his background experience when observing, and Binah asks him to regard her as she simply is: neither an Arbiter or Sephirah, to consider only the time she has gone through, saying he may be able to see it when he observes her as he knew nothing. She goes on to make a metaphor, saying that through a long history of being entwined with each other, humanity in the City as accumulated a layer of sediment, one cannot see clearly through such turbid waters, a clear vision can only be attained through one's own eyes. Roland tries to synthesize it as simply everyone having a different perspective, jokingly comparing it to the half cup of water metaphor. Binah just says to use his own eyes to watch things as they are, then he might see it, but he will inevitably forget why he wished to see it at that point: that oblivion is what creates anguish, it's why it's a tragedy. Roland cannot believe it, saying that there must be a single answer as there usually is within the City, and Binah simply replies that he must look at his own inner universe. Cutscene 5 (Floor Realization Prologue) Binah asks Roland if he knows anything about the person Angela was modeled after, who replies he does not, never having been told and not wanting to bother her by asking. Binah explains she was based on Carmen, describing her as the one who sought to change the City, striving for a world without conflict, or rather, an utopia where people did not harm each other, and could mutually understand. She describes her ideal as a world where people could dream, one that she could never reach herself, as the fruit of her research could only be born after she sacrificed her life for it. Roland assumes the Head decided to use that opportunity to strike, and Binah further elaborates that although her cause was an important offense, it wasn't the only reason: Angela was created to be a substitute of Carmen, and reminisces on her creator, who carried out the plan and was "keeping an eye on" as the same type of individual as herself. She describes him as someone who merely shouldered the burden of completing the task the one he loved left behind, never pursuing any great cause himself in a true sense; frail, but couldn't be understood by anyone, Binah assuming maybe it was the reason why he desperately longed for understanding from another being. Roland attempts to clear up and asks if she's saying Angela was made to "fill the Carmen-sized hole in his heart", while Binah monologues about his forbidden endeavor to create someone to look over his fragile self; a cocktail of irony and lingering attachment, seeing it as self-loathing and insanity, an ironic codependency where the two gravely needed each other but could never be next to one another, the abiding affection for Carmen that compelled him to create a mechanical copy of her, even though there was no real need for such resemblance. She remarks how the result ended up resembling him more than Carmen, noting the self-contempt that stemmed from countless contradictions and regrets, and the insanity of neglecting Angela to suffer for nigh-eternity when she was capable of having a mind identical to humans. To finish, Binah asks Roland if he doesn't think it's beautiful, who only responds by calling him a "top-of-the-range" nutcase, to which Binah adds that in spite of it, he was seen as a beacon of virtue to some. She speaks of how there's no such thing as "good" in this world, only what is perceived as such, it's not up to the individual to dare make an universal judgement. Roland interjects he then must've also been seen as a spawn of evil to others, and Binah replies that humans are bound to view the world while carrying certain things on their backs, him being no exception. The screen cuts to black, where Roland remembers his childhood. Never having a chance to see his parents, growing up in the hands of an old woman in the Backstreets, being left alone when she was gone not too long after. Looking for a way to make a living, he jumped into the world of Fixers from a young age, having at least been taught how to survive as one by her before she left. He spent his time doing requests and errands for others, rather than anything for himself. He describes he forgot soon enough, wondering if he could do anything for himself at all as he watched the bare facets of the City, asking himself if he could settle for a life where he wouldn't lack anything crucial, if he really would be happy if he lived in a Nest. His thoughts move to another scene: the Smoke War, when the days of smoke-filled skies and the scent of humans were nearing their end. He remembers an exchange with Salvador, where Roland fought to pick up kills, while Salvador calls him snappish, noting his blank mask before saving him from an incoming attack. The older man tells him to try looking at what's in front of him for once, or he'll miss what's important if he keeps looking back. Roland begrudgingly tells him not to expect thanks, who replies he bets he's only here for the Nest migration permit. When Roland asks back the same question, Salvador explains he already was Nest-born, calling him ignorant about the world, he flashed an I Corp badge, explaining Salvador's entire Association had been hired. He speaks of how he doesn't really know what they're fighting for, and even though he believes the smoke made a mess out of the City, he wasn't told anything beyond that, as the only thing he must do is go kill whoever they were asked to kill; such are the principles of Fixers, and the City as a whole. In a tangent, Salvador asks Roland how many kills as he scored, who replies twenty-three. Salvador then asks if Roland believes his life is worth more than twenty-three people, he answer that he doesn't: he simply struck them with his sword so that he would stay alive, to which the older man adds that yet some higher-ups believe that a handful of smoke is worth more than tens of thousands of lives. The scene cuts again, where the pair finds the source of the some: the old L Corp Singularity. They describe it as something utterly hideous, causing Roland to vomit in reaction. When he asks what was that thing, Salvador only tells him to get used to such things, as every Singularity that keeps the City running has one or two nasty truths hidden to everyone. He adds that they'll all receive amnestic treatment now they've seen it, though the disgust won't go away entirely. Roland only reacts in disgust learning the City's splendor runs in things like this, and Salvador only says he's learned a valuable lesson today. In his own thoughts, Roland speaks that even though he doesn't exactly remember the source of the smoke, he couldn't forget the dreadful image of what makes the City a prosperous place, and the sickening world itself, not realizing their convenience was built on the sacrifice of numerous others, maybe even willfully ignorant of it. After the war, Roland blended back into the City and kept working as a Fixer, with numerous people coming and going from his life, until all that remained were the twelve Fixers in Charles' Office. He recalls one particular moment, being woken up out of a nightmare by Angelica, the new hire. When Roland asks if she knew that everyone who took this request died awful deaths, she simply quotes "Why should I begrudge it, since during the hours when my soul crushed the depths of my heart, it was seated there beside me?", to which Roland only complains about working with a "sicko". In response, Angelica hits him on the back of his head, saying it's simply a passage from a poem she likes, one that helps her accept the agony rather than suffer trying to shake it off. While Roland tries to walk off the pain, she adds that he's just as much of a sicko, particularly because of his habit of wearing a pitch-black mask at all times, although she's heard of his skills. When she asks why he wouldn't take it off, Roland avoids the question by telling her to not pry, as they were both Grade 1 Fixers. Back in his thoughts he thinks of how he first met Angelica while taking on a Star of the City case, and how it's pretty much unavoidable to talk with coworkers on a long-term mission like that. He regrets not keeping his silence, believing that maybe because of the death of his colleagues, or as he corrects himself, people he met and died before being considered colleagues that he grew a yearning for something more, beating himself for opening up to her. In another scene, Angelica speaks about herself, particularly about her origins in the Outskirts, being a test subject for a Wing before being thrown out there, unable to remember the experiments but still remembering its dread. Roland gives canned condolences, which Angelica calls cold and prompts her to ask about his past and his mask, a question which Roland once again avoids by telling her to keep on working. In his thoughts, he remembers he started wearing the mask following his mentor's advice: as a Fixer, it's important to not let potential enemies remember his face. He adds that he now wore it for another reason: He simply couldn't stand taking it off, to be open with a clear conscience in this City, the mask becoming his own enclosed world he couldn't leave. Binah ep5 2-3 From left to right: Roland wakes up Angelica from the nightmare, the pair confront Blood-red Night, Roland holds a wounded Angelica. In a memory in a sewer, Angelica has a nightmare, pleading to not have her brother taken away, before being woken up with a hit from Roland. He retorts she shouldn't be criticizing his sleeping habits like that. She apologizes for her outburst explaining it must've been her childhood haunting her, to which Roland replies that he knew about it, but not about her having a brother. In turn, Angelica asks about his past once again, with Roland finally letting out some information and saying he participated in the Smoke war, having seen the source of the smoke personally, unable to remember but still carrying the feeling he saw something he shouldn't have, and that he was taking part on something no better than its origin. Angelica wonders if the agonies that surround the City is the reason why he wears that mask, before being interrupted by Olivier in comms, saying their target was approaching. Roland recalls the target they were after was the Blood-red Night, who employed trickery to kidnap people from the Backstreets and Nests alike, the victims later being found in the former as animated corpses. Completely emptied inside, they endlessly craved for anything fresh, as if to fill their emptied bodies. Roland tells himself he believed it was only classified Star of the City so quickly out of direct harm to a Nest. In the next scene, Roland and Angelica are on the Blood-red Night's chambers, they remark the amount of corpses within it, with him guessing it took about three thousand, before Elena herself arrives, gloating it was actually four thousand, one hundred, and seventy-two people. She playfully commends them on their efforts to catch her, seeing they tracked her down to her den, before beginning to fight. The scene cuts to the midst of battle, with Angela shielding him from blow, but taking it herself and being grievously wounded. Roland cries out in lament, saying she shouldn't have done so, while Elena mocks him for his display of emotion. Roland takes that opportunity and deals a devastating strike to her, causing her to retreat while swearing she would come back. In his mind once again, Roland thinks about how people try not to care about the suffering of others, only giving a few words of consolation while never wishing to truly understand each other's pain, but Angelica was different: she wanted to learn more about the pain he was bearing. He describes his agony as abstract and enormous, and wonders if she could really understand. Roland holds Angelica's body, pleading her to respond, who only quotes in a weak voice "You are like those who never left the sad fireside corner of my poor black heart", and congratulates him for finally finishing the mission. Roland begs her not to die after coming this far, his voice breaking and about to cry while he attempts to thump her chest to keep her breathing. In response, Angelica hits him and tells him to cut it off, saying she was only trying to rest a bit until he started practically beating her. Roland sighs in relief, much to her surprise, although she can't tell his actual feelings because of his mask. Roland, now relatively more calm, explains that he wore the mask to never show his face to anyone, ashamed to face the deeds he was contributing to. He moves on to wonder if since they can kill so many people nonchalantly just because Offices and Associations told them to, excusing it as their work, they as well could be killed by somebody with the same kind of excuses: even if they were murdered one day, they wouldn't be allowed to complain about it, a thought that scared him to no end. Binah ep5 2-4 Breaking his mask, Angelica sees Roland's face for the first time. Seeing his guard was down, Angelica shatters Roland's mask, now seeing on his face that he truly was worried for her. She replies she doesn't understand why he cares so much about the problems in the City as if it was his burden, saying "That's that and this is this", an adage Roland repeats himself, before agreeing with it, believing that's simply how the City is. In his thoughts, Roland reminisces about her as the person who broke into his world, the person who then became the foundation of his world, having showed him a way to turn away from the City's agonies without his mask. He comments she may have been a good person, but he wouldn't consider her someone wise, hearing his pain and teaching him how to turn a blind eye to it, herself saying she embraced the pain, but only pretended to do so. He then quotes himself "O my sorrow, you are better than a well-beloved." Roland Binah Roland wielding Lamp Back at the Library, Binah asks Roland if he enjoyed his dream. Roland speaks of himself as but one of the many who play the tunes of the apocalypse in the abyss, and Binah simply tells him to come at her. Cutscene 6 (Floor Realization Epilogue) In the darkness, Roland quotes "Because I know that in the day of my final agony, you will be there, lying in my sheets, O sorrow, so that you might once again attempt to enter my heart." Now at the Library, Roland admits he's scared, afraid of what decision he might make in the end. He's not sure how great whoever Binah observed was, but he calls himself a nobody, in his own words, "Nothing more than a speck of rust in the gears of this world", one of the many foul people partaking in this vile world, and that's why he was afraid. Binah just says the City is as it is, humans are as they are, and they were as they were, he must observe simply what his eyes can see, without imputing any external values to it. Roland talks of how he's turned away from many things, saying "That's that, and this is this", running away from reality until he and his wife got what they had coming in the end, ultimately being no one's fault things turned out that way, with Roland assuming he must also be partly responsible for it, paying the price for remaining a bystander in the City. Binah replies that he might be right, and Roland continues to say that even if he didn't look away, could he have really stopped such a massive cycle alone. She adds that everything shall repeat, they managed to break the cycle once, yet they as Librarians are now going through another repetition; what truly matters was that the cycle broke at least once, and that was all she had to tell him. She says he may visit her for tea occasionally, inviting him to trivial chitchats from time to time. Garion was formerly an Arbiter, a type of elite agent exclusive to the Head. These singularity-infused assassins are capable of decimating entire Wings all by themselves and can easily defeat even Grade 1 Fixers. Under Michelle's intel, the Head sent her to attack the former L Corp, nearly decimating the whole facility. She managed to kill the Red Mist Kali, only to be impaled by her at her last moments, nearly dead. After being captured near-death, her brain was used by A to form the Sephirah "Binah". Her appearance as a Sephirah and as a human are identical: The black, golden-trimmed coat that is the uniform of the Arbiters. After her death, her human appearance was used in the creation of "Binah" utilizing the Cognition Filter. Once the player completes Binah's Meltdown, the Cognition Filter that hides her true appearance as a robot is lowered. Her robot form is black/gold and rectangular, featuring the same hexagonal pattern that's on her regular outfit as well as a single golden eye. Her robot form features black/gold mechanical arms and legs as well as a smaller version of her cloak. After revealing her true form, Binah admits how similar she and the Manager are, as both are not distracted by what's before their eyes and keep her sight focused on their ultimate goal, naming themselves mutants this epoch has created. She acknowledges his determination to fight against all odds, and declares she will witness every step he takes until he triumphs. The reward for defeating Binah's Meltdown is having E.G.O equipment no longer be lost when its current wielder dies, along with giving the Extraction Team immunity to Qliphoth Meltdowns. Backstory Garion had been assigned to wipe out the Outskirts lab shortly after having wiped out H Corp, having been given intel from Michelle. She managed to wipe out nearly the entirety of the facility, but was mortally wounded by the Red Mist in a Pyrrhic victory. With this, A and B managed to recover her body, probing her brain to obtain information on how to become a Wing. After A extracted information on the head from Garion's brain, he made her the first Sephirah, giving her the "gift" of being unable to succumb to madness and condemning her to forever having to go through the E.G.O. and Abnormality extraction process, which would drive any other person insane. This was meant as a form of torture for killing everyone in the company but himself and Benjamin, but A questioned his decision later. Pre-Meltdown A monologues in his own thoughts about how Carmen had asked him to sacrifice her body without hesitation, wondering if she would've still asked for it if she knew it would end like this. The scene then changes to Binah describing the Extraction Team's department as a No-Man's land, a place of silence, one where most employees that stay lose their minds and embrace oblivion, before noting it's been a while since she had a proper conversation with anyone. She believes that maybe the Manager was confused with the idea that she was the only resident there, but there's someone else that passes eternity along with her. She comments on how he created the Bucket by reconstructing, dividing and proliferating Carmen's remains, from which he managed to extract Cogito, the so-called fluid of life and death. At first, only a small dose could be extracted, but enigmatically, that fluid started to flow infinitely and now has formed a pool. As both Binah and the Manager looked down into the Bucket, she comments that Carmen is watching them from beneath the spring. She adds that when everything feels burdening, Binah quietly stares into the bottom, feeling as if she and her were the only two in the world, almost as if she was talking directly to her, even though all that's left of her is an amalgamation of flesh, brains, neurons and tendrils, drifting within the Cogito. She comments on how someone injected herself with Cogito following her own principles; how someone else went mad by witnessing what had happened; how another person gave up his own body and ended in a state of Limbo between life and death, and a last person ended up breaking and confessing everything to the Head, which Binah speaks of as the collaboration of despair the Manager and Carmen created. Binah adds that the Manager still can't look into the bottom of the spring, and how to do so, he must directly look at the path he's taking. She wonders if the Manager is looking for redemption for himself, or for her along with everyone else trapped in the facility. Whatever it is, she guesses that he thinks freeing them from their sins will also absolve him of his own, to which she interjects that even he, who hasn't left this facility in such a long time, is aware that people are being slaughtered by Abnormalities in other branches as they speak. Something that's not confined to L Corp, as every other Wing is run by suffering, repeating perpetually, all the same in the Nests, the Backstreets, the Ruins and the Outskirts. A pain much greater than anything he has seen prevails in this world, one that Binah has observed conscientiously, as she, in her own words, didn't obsess herself with with an unreachable ideal, using this to show how different the world she looked down on and the one he looked up to were. Even when he captured Binah and tortured her to his heart's content, his heart was still sunken in despair, all while her place would be taken by another Arbiter of the Head, swinging their claws at people like him. Binah adds that no matter what he did, the cycle within the City would quietly continue: Broken Wings would stretch out anew, their brief resistance would be forgotten soon, and people would continue living, not out of a purpose or a dream, but simply because they're not dead. Binah points out that even when the Manager thinks he had brought her down, she still looks down on everyone from the heights, watching them as they writhe like insects. She continues taunting him by continuing saying she silently waits for the day despair consumes him after realizing that the cycle the City runs in would never be stopped, when he kneels before destiny and resigns himself to fate. The screen fades to black as another memory from A appears: the moment they found Binah incapacitated, having been mortally wounded by Kali and their only way out. He comments that it was a miracle they had captured her alive, and how they were all too far down the road filled with remorse and regret to feel any guilt. A few options appear, all to probe her head. A continues talking about the secrets she contained: How to avoid the head's pursuit; the means to become a Wing, and a way for the few remaining left to survive, something that was impossible for them to figure on their own. A talks about how she was hardly breathing, but her brain was still alive, which was all they needed. Probing their brain just as they did with Carmen, they searched for a way out before gathering up her remains. He adds that the sentinel who guards the gates of Hell must always be in despair, to the point that they cannot even fall into its depths. Post-Meltdown With the Meltdown finished, a memory of Garion appears, where she tortures the H Corp employee that had helped her bring down the Wing. As the employee begs for their life, Binah asks if they feel anything when the place they belonged to was reduced to ash and dust. She mentions that since childhood, scenery such as the stars in the sky or the sunlight beating down on the earth couldn't impress her one bit. This, however, gave her a thrill, one that made her thirst for more, but still wasn't enough. She asks the employee why are they trembling, and where the guts they had to betray their own Nest went. While the employee kept pleading, she adds that even though the plan wasn't perfect, thanks to the people that trusted the employee it all went perfectly, further commenting that trust is one of her favorite weapons, as it was one that left a great wound. She mentions that the Sweepers will arrive shortly, and briefly talks about their relationship with the Head: Wherever there is trash, they will come to collect everything the Head was too busy to take care of. Hearing this, the employee panics, begging Garion to spare them from the Sweepers before a roaring sound is heard. Garion delights on the employee's suffering, calling their reaction a testament to life, before speaking to herself about how she enjoys the deathly silence and the metallic scent of her black tea. She moves on the her next assignment, complaining about how she has to rely on intel from a naive orange-haired girl, but thinks about how the weak and vulnerable yield great information, as she wonders what faces will show her the meaning of life next. The screen fades to black, back to Binah and the Manager, she reminisces about how the only things that excited here were the dying and the crumbling, only satisfied by the sound they made and their faces as they clutched to life. She comments that she realized long ago that she and him were no different: mutants this epoch created, before correcting herself to a new generation of humanity, fit to survive this new age, pointing this out as the reason why he could've planned all this. Nonetheless, she also adds that no matter what he achieved, nothing would change with the world. With the Wings on the rise, the Syndicates of the Backstreets, the creatures of the Outskirts, the Arbiters, Eyes and Claws of the Head, there was no chance he could succeed against them alone, but simply idling there wouldn't change anything either. Binah declares that she shall witness over every step he took, no matter how tiring or painful was the sight. She tells the Manager to simply proceed as he has always done, then he may just triumph. Binah has "The Eye Facing the Fear; Breaking the Cycle". Power and abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Genius Intelligence, Weapon Mastery, Enhanced Senses (Capable of detecting entities employees cannot, such as the Dimensional Refraction Variant, sensory augmentation is a very common procedure and Arbiters are top of the line, capable of launching attacks on foes from across the L Corp. facility), Conceptual Manipulation (Type 2. The Fairy singularity of F Corp. and the Lock singularity of J Corp. are both capable of respectively opening and closing things on a physical or conceptual level, including people. Examples given have included opening people, opening Abnormality containment units, opening attacks, locking physical objects, locking people, locking away abilities, locking an area of space, locking a body to prevent dissection, and more[1]), Vibration Manipulation (Binah can create shockwaves which bolster her defenses and weaken her foes), Creation, Weapon Creation, Weapon Control (Capable of creating her singularities indefinitely, while also being able to create specific forms such as pillars, meltdowns, chains, spikes, and locks), Power Nullification (Capable of preventing the usage of T Corp. tech to pause), Statistics Amplification (Capable of temporarily increasing her durability to the point she is incapable of being harmed in Lobotomy Corporation), Statistics Reduction (Capable of slowing and weakening her foes with various singularity effects), Empowerment (Capable of buffing her allies), Darkness Manipulation, Non-Physical Interaction (Capable of harming non-corporeal and abstract entities such as Dimensional Refraction Variant), Status Effect Inducement (Survivors of her Fairy derived attacks are afflicted with Fairy as a status effect, causing them to further suffer injury whenever they act), Energy Manipulation (Binah can create meltdowns which drain the Qliphoth counter to 0), possibly (Binah's powerset does not change much from game to game, with it being hard locked into her in Library of Ruina in a way that not even The Library can undo, but while in theory there should be no differences in practice colored damage types are seldom represented outside of Lobotomy Corporation) Mind Manipulation, Madness Manipulation, Fear Manipulation and Perception Manipulation (Capable of dealing WHITE damage, meaning she can attack the mind. This can result in panicking, catatonia, suicide, or violent insanity), Corrosion Inducement and Resistance Negation (Capable of dealing BLACK damage, meaning they attack both the mind and body while ignoring resistances to either type of attack), Death Manipulation, Soul Manipulation, Life-Force Absorption, Paralysis Inducement and Durability Negation (Capable of dealing PALE damage, a damage type embodying death itself) Likely (Binah has regained her full power as an Arbiter as of the ending of Library of Ruina. Due to the game ending she's not conclusively shown wielding Abnormality Pages and extracted E.G.O., but there's nothing logically stopping her from being outfitted with them in the same way she was as a Librarian) Mind Manipulation, Madness Manipulation, Fear Manipulation and Perception Manipulation (Capable of dealing WHITE damage, meaning she can attack the mind. This can result in panicking, catatonia, suicide, or violent insanity), Corrosion Inducement and Resistance Negation (Capable of dealing BLACK damage, meaning they attack both the mind and body while ignoring resistances to either type of attack), Death Manipulation, Soul Manipulation, Life-Force Absorption, Paralysis Inducement and Durability Negation (Capable of dealing PALE damage, a damage type embodying death itself), Non-Physical Interaction (Capable of harming non-corporeal and abstract entities such as the Dimensional Refraction Variant with colored damage), Statistics Amplification (Various Abnormality Pages), Accelerated Development (Punishment), Power Nullification, Statistics Reduction (Watchful Eyes, Peace, The Beast, Lamp), Time Manipulation (Long Arms), Healing (Big Eyes, Tilted Scale), Energy Projection, Explosion Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement (Twilight) In addition to abilities listed under the Arbiter tab, Inorganic Physiology, Shapeshifting, Immortality (Type 8. Her AI will be put back into another body if her old one is destroyed). Colored damage abilities are unambiguous in this form. In addition to abilities listed under the Arbiter tab, Immortality (Type 8, reliant on Angela. She will always resurrect Librarians, no matter how they die), Transformation (Equipping certain E.G.O. gifts and gear changes her appearance. Seems to switch her coat around when out of combat), Creation (Can create materials out of thin air as long as they have the necessary books within the Library to reference), Acausality (Type 4. Like the Library, Librarians cannot be read by the Gaze's Office causality-reading machine despite it being able to track causality across multiple universes. None of the processes behind their functioning can be read or detected, only the result of said processes) Mind Manipulation, Madness Manipulation, Fear Manipulation and Perception Manipulation (Capable of dealing WHITE damage, meaning she can attack the mind. This can result in panicking, catatonia, suicide, or violent insanity), Corrosion Inducement and Resistance Negation (Capable of dealing BLACK damage, meaning they attack both the mind and body while ignoring resistances to either type of attack), Death Manipulation, Soul Manipulation, Life-Force Absorption, Paralysis Inducement and Durability Negation (Capable of dealing PALE damage, a damage type embodying death itself), Non-Physical Interaction (Capable of harming non-corporeal and abstract entities such as the Dimensional Refraction Variant with colored damage, Statistics Amplification (Various Abnormality Pages and passives), Accelerated Development (Punishment), Power Nullification, Statistics Reduction (Watchful Eyes, Peace, The Beast, Lamp), Time Manipulation (Long Arms), Healing (Big Eyes, Tilted Scale, various passives), Energy Projection, Explosion Manipulation, Paralysis Inducement (Twilight), Empowerment (Various passives), Fire Manipulation (Flaming Bat, Flaring Brand, Force of a Wildfire), Damage Boost (Various passives), Damage Reduction (Various passives), Electricity Manipulation (Electric Shock), Paralysis Inducement (Electric Shock, Bzzz Bzzz, Smoke Addiction), Smoke Manipulation (Puffy Brume), Regeneration (Likely Low-Mid, given the severe injuries Fixers can survive without dying. Emergency Rations, Immediate Repairs, Haboob, Emergency Resuscitation Protocol), Spatial Manipulation, Matter Manipulation (Likely quantum, via Quantum Leap, Refraction, and Dimensional Sections), Forcefield Creation (Force Field, Charged Shield), Empathic Manipulation (Singular Strikes), Probability Manipulation (Manipulator of Odds), Restoration (Various passives), Purification (Policy Form), Resistance Negation (Information Assessment, Seeing Through Weakness, Asian In One's Armor), Adaptation (All for Hana), Instinctive Action (Retaliate), Blood Manipulation (Bloodfiendish) Resistance to: Power Nullification, Power Modification, Resistance Negation, Statistics Reduction (As represented by her "Binah" passive, Binah's abilities are completely locked in to her very being on a level that not even The Library, an infinite universe with its own timescale, can change, despite Binah's entire body being composed of its Light. Binah retained far more strength than everyone else converted to a Librarian due to this, as the default no keypage Librarian is a weak combatant more on the level of a Grade 9 Fixer even for those who were elite combatants prior such as Roland and Gebura. Her body as a Sephirah was made poorly on purpose to keep her under control and to punish her, yet her singularity abilities remained and she ultimately wields power comparable to Sephirah Gebura), Mind Manipulation, Madness Manipulation, Fear Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation, Perception Manipulation, Corrosion Inducement, Resistance Negation (Binah is resistant to WHITE and BLACK damage and is able to combat CENSORED without succumbing to it's enhanced passive abilities. Binah is also able to endure E.G.O. Weapon attacks with such effects and hits from the mind altering weapons of the Reindeer Team), Death Manipulation, Soul Manipulation, Life-Force Absorption, Paralysis Inducement and Durability Negation (Binah can endure and take hits from the Old Lady's gun), Heat Manipulation (Binah can endure The Firebird, Binah can take hits from high level Liu fixers and even the likes of E.G.O. Xiao, Reverb Ensemble Phillip, and a zombified Vermillion Cross while she also will not be killed if frozen using Blizzard or Third Kiss from Keter's abnormality pages and can withstand attacks from The Snow Queen), Poison Manipulation (Does not have her head explode if pierced by Porccubus' thorns, which otherwise can cause such an overload of elation in the victim that their head explodes, is unaffected by breathing in toxic smoke or building dust), Blood Manipulation, Body Puppetry, Biological Manipulation (The Parasite Tree's saplings turn any employee they drive to panic into more saplings, but Binah cannot be converted this way. Binah can take hits from Elena, who's capable of manipulating blood in a way that fuses a victim's blood and flesh and is also capable of leveraging this to control their bodies. Even on a failed defense, capable of withstanding Elena and Nosferatu attacks which involve ripping the blood straight out of their victims.), Electricity Manipulation (Can withstand electric attacks from R Corp. Reindeer, even including Rudolph's maximum charge attack), as a Librarian she also has Resistance to Information Analysis (Librarians cannot have their components or constituent parts identified. Their power level cannot be read), Poison Manipulation and Disease Manipulation (Bodies made of Light don't need to worry about the negative effects of smoking and drinking alcohol, as they cannot get sick) Attacks inducing anything mentioned under standard resistances, in addition to Paralysis Inducement (Capable of stopping attacks that apply the Paralysis effect), Statistics Reduction (Capable of stopping attacks that reduce speed, strength, and/or defensive ability. Several afflictions also represent an increased vulnerability to physical, mental, and other forms of harm, and the ones that can be deflected or blocked are as follows: Fragile, Smoke, Stagger Resistance Down, Penetrated Boundary, Mark of the Hunt, Stagger Vulnerable, Enlightenment, Mark), Sound Manipulation and Vibration Manipulation (Capable of stopping Argalia's resonance inducing attacks, can also block Xiao's weakening scream Pú Láo), Conceptual Manipulation (Type 2. Capable of stopping her own copied attacks which use the F Corp. and J Corp. singularities which are capable of harmfully opening and closing things on a conceptual level), Resistance Negation (Capable of stopping Dante's attacks which can erode resistances and eventually turn them into weaknesses, can also stop this attack from Blue Star's followers which inverts the victim's resistance), Power Modification (Capable of stopping attacks which make her own techniques require more energy to use), Adhesive Manipulation (Can stop Cocoon enhanced attacks), Absorption (Capable of stopping attacks from The Mountain of Smiling Bodies which have such effects), Power Nullification (Capable of blocking Wrist Cutter, which strips buffs if it connects as well as attacks like Black Swan and Da Capo which remove energy if they hit), Time Manipulation (Can block Dead Silence which is derived from The Price of Silence, a heavily time centric abnormality), Spatial Manipulation and possibly Matter Manipulation (Quantum level for the matter manipulation, indicated by Rose's ability. Capable of blocking W Corp. weapons and attacks from their agents. W Corp. agents are equipped with weapons that use their space ripping singularity to tear through dimensions, they also possess a second singularity used for restorative purposes which works through matter manipulation. Their weapons are singularity augmented, though it's uncertain what role the matter manipulation one plays for these weapons), Stamina Manipulation (The flames of Xiao and Miris are extra damaging to the composure and stamina of their foes, these flames can still be blocked just fine), Body Puppetry (Can defend against The Puppeteer's body hijacking ability) Further resistance to all previous, in particular Status Effect Inducement, Fire Manipulation, Temperature Manipulation, Blood Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation (Type 2), and Death Manipulation via Long Arms Attack Potency: Multi-City Block level (As an Arbiter, Binah is one of the most powerful people in the entire City. Tore Kali's arm off and ultimately killed her. When restored to her full power post Ruina, she was capable of fighting against fellow Arbiter Zena, who made a large crater with her shockwave, and the Claw Baral.), possibly higher with E.G.O and Abnormality Pages (Binah as a Librarian had access to E.G.O. equipment and other buffs derived from Punishing Bird, Big Bird, Judgement Bird, and Apocalypse Bird. While the Library was too unstable for them to be used during her brief period at full power within Library of Ruina, there's no known reason Angela wouldn't still be able to outfit Binah with such equipment) | At least City Block level, likely Multi-City Block level (Despite being weakened, she can still inflict catastrophic damage to employees outfitted with ALEPH level gear and she is classified similarly to Apocalypse Bird in terms of threat level. Defeated Sephirah Gebura.) | At least City Block level, likely Multi-City Block level (While considered "Degraded" and "Incomplete" compared to her prime, she's still on par with Impurity level Librarians, Color Fixers such as Gebura and Iori, and powerful Distortions such as Yan and Elena. Elena previously fought and inflicted serious injuries to the Color Fixer Angelica and elite Grade 1 Fixer Roland, though she ultimately lost the battle. Binah led a team that defeated an Apocalypse Bird empowered and supported Roland), higher with E.G.O. and Abnormality Pages (Has access to E.G.O. equipment and other buffs derived from Punishing Bird, Big Bird, Judgement Bird, and Apocalypse Bird, even being able to fully summon the latter for an attack. The Beast in particular is portrayed as making the user dramatically more powerful, representing the fusion between the three birds into the one Apocalypse Bird) Speed: Massively Hypersonic (Comparable to Kali, though not quite as fast), higher with optional equipment (A variety of passives and Abnormality Pages can increase speed, The Strongest confers Kali/Gebura's own speed) | Massively Hypersonic (Comparable to Gebura, though not quite as fast) | Massively Hypersonic (Comparable to Gebura, though not quite as fast), higher with optional equipment (A variety of passives and Abnormality Pages can increase speed, The Strongest confers Kali/Gebura's own speed) Intelligence: At least Above Average, likely Genius. Much ambiguity remains about the exact role of Arbiters in the governance of The City beyond their role in culling that which The Head has decided should not exist, but one of the examples used to describe Chesed's genius was how he was expected to easily get a job at A Corp, which is the titular Head that Arbiters run. Other Patron Librarians treat Binah as an impressive source of knowledge, and most of them were rather intelligent themselves given their positions as senior researchers for a rapidly rising star of a company. In terms of combat, her effectiveness is far from being solely reliant on power alone. She defeated Gebura in their rematch where both had full awareness of the other's capabilities, and due to her degraded state as a Patron Librarian she faces off against far more enemies who match her in power than is typical for an Arbiter. These foes include the likes of Gebura for a third time, combat prodigies such as Myo, Color Fixers such as The Black Silence and The Purple Tear, and the Bloodfiend Elena, who herself was capable of fighting both Roland and Angelica at the same time despite her eventual defeat. Noteable attacks and techniques: Singularities Fairy: Binah utilizes a weaponized form of F Corp.'s Fairy singularity, capable of opening anything considered to be "locked" physically or conceptually. Her quick, low commitment use of fairies in Library of Ruina opens wounds on a target which continue to inflict harm whenever the victim takes any substantial action, while a concentrated version displayed in Lobotomy Corporation tends to shred even the strongest employees to pieces while dealing RED, WHITE, BLACK or PALE damage at random. Key/Pillar: Another form of F Corp.'s singularity, Binah creates a giant pillar in front of her which is then launched at high speed. This pillar can go through walls and cause nearby technology to malfunction, while also inflicting the lasting wounds which Fairy does. They're capable of stopping any attack which clashes with it, even attacks which are significantly stronger and would otherwise overcome the pillar's force such as Kali's most committed swings. In Lobotomy Corporation, Binah can summon up to 8 at a time, and they randomly deal RED, WHITE, BLACK or PALE damage. Chain: Binah utilizes a weaponized form of J Corp.'s Lock singularity, capable of locking and sealing anything exposed or open on a conceptual level. Summoning her chains from beneath a foe's feet, they prevent her victim from acting even after the ensnaring period has ended while the non degraded form inflict a slowing effect. Lock: Another form of J Corp.'s singularity, Binah summons a lock around her foe, harming them while also causing their abilities to require much more exertion to use. Spikes: Binah can summons spikes of darkness under opponents, dealing BLACK damage to them. Waves: In her second phase, Binah can summon waves of darkness that can teleport around the facility and move on their own. These waves deal BLACK damage. These waves also seem to be able to be generated as a sort of shield. Shockwave: Likely utilizing a form of G Corp.'s Gravity singularity, Binah can radiate a series of three large shockwaves to hit foes within a large radius. This weakens her foes while simultaneously empowering the defenses of her and her allies. Meltdown: Binah can create Qliphoth Meltdowns in nearby containment units. Her sheer presence can cause these, but she also creates "Special" Meltdowns, which are linked to her abilities. If these meltdowns are solved, they might lower her durability, temporarily stun her, remove the Waves, or even cancel her Key attacks. Not really applicable outside of Lobotomy Corporation. Ego and abnormality page: Tier 1 Pages: Binah can have up to two of these. Watchful Eyes: Empowered by Big Bird, Binah's energy reserves are fully replenished and replenish at a faster rate, at the expense of her allies randomly failing to recover. Eternally Lit Lamp: Another boon from Big Bird, Binah can force foes to target her attacks directly, regardless of their speed. Small Flutters: Empowered by Punishing Bird, Binah becomes more adept at evasion, and successful evasion empowers her attacks. The Weight of Sin: Empowered by Judgement Bird, if Binah is to achieve a worst case scenario on one of her actions, she'll sustain minor harm while receiving an offensive and defensive boon. Long Arms: The egg of Judgement Bird renders Binah immune to burns, bleeding, her own Fairy attacks, and Sin (Death Manipulation). It achieves this effect through the use of Time Manipulation, being described as "concealing time." Big Eyes: The egg of Big Bird causes Binah to enchant her enemies, causing them to prioritize her with attacks and inflict slightly more damage should they connect, but also giving her more power to override their attacks and healing her when she does so. Small Beak Small Beak Tier 2 Pages: Binah can have up to two of these. Small Beak: The egg of Punishing Bird gives Binah the ability to harm herself in exchange for more Light to funnel towards attacks. Tilted Scale: Another boon of Judgement Bird causes Binah to heal her most injured teammate (which can include herself) when attacking her least injured enemy. Judgement: This boon of Judgement Bird causes everybody in combat to periodically gain "Sin", which can be transferred to someone else by attacking and harming them. Someone with too much Sin takes a large amount of PALE damage. Punishing Beak: This boon of Punishing Bird empowers Binah's attacks to inflict more harm the longer it's been since she was last injured herself. Punishment: This boon of Punishing Bird causes Binah to become more powerful in the immediate aftermath of being harmed. Salvation: This boon of Big Bird empowers Binah against foes who are faster than her, while also allowing her to easily cripple foes on their last legs. Guardians of the Forest Guardians of the Forest Tier 3 Pages: Binah can only have one of these. Guardians of the Forest: This collective blessing from the birds gives Binah and all of her allies a speed increase. If Binah is fighting in a team of five, and each one of them holds a different boon from one of the birds, they all receive offensive buffs in addition. Peace: This blessing of Apocalypse Bird allows Binah to mark a target as "The Intruder", and subsequently causes said intruder's attacks to become weaker while rendering them more susceptible to harm. The Beast: The ultimate blessing of Apocalypse Bird, if Binah also holds Long Arms, Big Eyes, and Small Beak, Binah is given the Twilight E.G.O. gift, passively power nullifying and weakening anything which targets her or which she targets, offensive or defensive. In addition, Binah constantly restores Light for herself while passively damaging everything nearby, friend or foe, with what is at least BLACK damage and may be a combination of RED, WHITE, BLACK and PALE all at once. Lamp Lamp E.G.O. Weapons Lamp: E.G.O. manifested from Big Bird. The Lamp radiates light which causes enemies to momentarily not be influenced by power gain or loss while also harming all nearby foes. Justitia: E.G.O. manifested from Judgement Bird. Justitia is a sword which inflicts heavy PALE damage to those struck by the blade, in addition to the significant physical harm suffered. Beak: E.G.O. manifested from Punishing Bird. Beak manifests as an armor worn by Binah, who can use it to open up her torso as though it was a mouth and bite down on her foes. In addition to the physical harm of the attack, Beak makes Binah's other capabilities less costly to employ. Twilight: E.G.O. manifested from Apocalypse Bird. Twilight manifests as a winged armor worn by Binah, who can use it to devastate her foes with an aerial bombardment of explosive light. These blasts paralyze their victims, and potentially inflict RED, WHITE, BLACK, and PALE damage all at once. Apocalypse: Binah summons Apocalypse Bird directly, which brings its enormous fist down on the battlefield. If Binah isn't in great shape when using this, the attack is empowered and has more power behind it. If her victims are instead the ones who are on the ropes, they take 1.5x as much damage. Passive: Passive abilities are assigned a cost, and Binah can have up to 12 total cost of passives on her at any given time. Her innate passives do not count against this cost. Innate Passives Binah: Has a unique Key Page and Combat Pages which cannot be replaced or swapped. This represents a very potent resistance to Power Nullification and Power Modification, as not even being given a deliberately deficient body as a Sephirah or being completely restructured to the most fundamental level by The Library can deprive Binah of her innate Singularity given abilities. Incomplete Arbiter: Binah rapidly replenishes her abilities and won't ever be truly caught flat footed. An Arbiter: When Binah regained her full power as an Arbiter, her replenishment became even faster. 0 Cost Passives Overbreathing/Exhaustion: Binah replenishes some stamina when exerting herself heavily, but is able to take fewer actions overall. Damage: RED Damage: RED damage corresponds to all attacks that affect the physical world. This includes physical blows, fire, or even magic. WHITE Damage: Some of her attacks deal "White" damage, meaning that they will harm the person's mental health instead of their physical body. When their mental health gets low enough, opponents will go insane, either committing suicide, fleeing, or lashing out at everything around them. BLACK Damage: Some of her attacks deal "Black" damage, meaning they will both damage the person physically and mentally at the same time. When their mental health gets low enough, opponents will go insane, either committing suicide, fleeing, or lashing out at everything around them. This type of attack also ignores resistances to physical and mental damage, requiring specific resistance to BLACK damage. PALE Damage: She can use "Pale" damage, which is a kind of damage that embodies death itself. It ignores defenses and health, damaging any being by a set percentage. Note: While Binah is immune to all attacks from Abnormalities in Lobotomy Corporation, this is considered to be game mechanics, as the game lacks any explanation for this ability and it is contradicted by weapons of similar nature to abnormalities being able to harm her as well as her no longer being immune to them in Library of Ruina. Binah's powerset does not change much from game to game, with it being hard locked into her in Library of Ruina in a way that not even The Library can undo, but while in theory there should be no differences in practice colored damage types are seldom represented outside of Lobotomy Corporation and as such they are listed with a "possibly" for her Arbiter and Librarian keys.
