Dante Alighieri was the titular protagonist of Dante's Inferno who crossed the nine circles of Hell to rescue his lost love named Beatrice. Dante, imagined as a Templar knight from The Crusades, who, guided by the spirit of the poet Virgil, must fight through the nine Circles of Hell to rescue Beatrice from the clutches of Lucifer himself. Against Francesco's objections, the enraged Dante slaughtered all of the prisoners by believing that it was their mission to kill the "Heretics".

Personality: Strong, arrogant, selfish, jealous, possessive Dante is a muscular man with an athletic build and extensive knowledge and experience in combat, he has short hair, and wears a crown of metal thorns. At the beginning of the game he wears traditional clothing of the Knights Templar of the Crusades, but upon returning to Florence he removes his cloak and sews a crimson cross on his chest. This patch represents the events of his life and the sins committed by him. He wears light armor on his arms, shoulders and thighs and a leather sheath on his back which he uses for the Scythe .
