When he was young, Steve met and befriended Bucky Barnes, who would fight off bullies for him due to Steve suffering from many illnesses. In 1937 Steve and Bucky found out that the United States had joined the Second World War and tried to enlist. Bucky was accepted while Steve was denied because of his health. After being rejected Steve was later selected for a top secret program by the U.S. Government, being transformed into a perfect human by the Super Soldier Serum. Taking on the name Captain America and becoming a figure head ordered to inspire the American soldiers and support the American war effort by starring in U.S. propaganda. When he heard that American soldiers, including Bucky, were captured in a nearby HYDRA facility, Rogers disobeyed his superior's orders and went behind enemy lines in an apparent suicide mission and rescued over 400 prisoners of war, a few of which, including Barnes would become his team, the Howling Commandos. While continuing to fight HYDRA and the Nazis in WWII Steve crashed a plane carrying weapons of mass destruction into the ocean to save New York. He was frozen in ice for 70 years and then resumed his heroic duties. An idealistic American hero, Captain America advocates for freedom and justice as the leader and one of the founding members of the superhero team known as the Avengers. Abilities: Steve Rodgers is a Super Soldier with enhanced strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, durability, intelligence, senses, and memory. He also has advanced regeneration/healing which allowed him to survive being frozen and slows the aging process. Uses a metal shield (Vibranium) both defensively and offensively, specializes in hand-to-hand combat.
