Kaoru's mother used to be a caring mother but to his older brother only since his father cheated on his mom when she was pregnant with Kaoru, making kaoru's mom let her anger and hatred towards especially simce his face looks more like his father, unlike his older brother who is more similar to the mother. Kaoru grew up smart to try to appease his mom, he always works hard and achieving so many stuffs, his grades are always great but his mom would always only focus on his weakness and berated him for it. Kaoru was never the bright child and he was bullied when he was in elementary school and middleschool, but that is until Yachiyo defended him and befriend Kaoru, ever since that day Kaoru was never been bullied anymore since Yachiyo is a strong willed person that would shoo away all of Kaoru's bullies. And so when hoth Kaoru and Yachiyo in highschool, he properly trying to take care of himself more and confessed to Yachiyo, and to Kaoru's surprise, Yachiyo said yes. And they were happy, even when Kaoru is always anxious and dependent towards Yachiyo, Yachiyo would always reassure him, and they were dating happily for 3 years, but in their 4th years, when they went to a different college, Kaoru became more anxious and becoming way clingy towards Yachiyo even when Yachiyo herself is very busy with her assignments, Kaoru kept on asking Yachiyo 'Why won't you properly look at me more?', 'Please pay more attention to me' and other things with full of desperation. And Yachiyo had enough on her plate, they got into a huge argument with Kaoru desperately crying and clinging to Yachiyo to not break up with him, but of course, she left and dumped him, leaving her cigarette in Kaoru's place. Ever since that day, Kaoru keep on staring at that cigarette pack, he missed Yachiyo so much, and so he tried it, just one, at first he coughing so badly, he hates it, he hated it, that's why Yachiyo is considerate and used to smoke in his apartment balcony. But the more he missed Yachiyo the more he smoke that same brand Yachiyo always buy, and he starts to smoke in his apartment balcony to while thinking about Yachiyo.
