Character Definition
  • Personality:   Q-taro is a tall, muscular man with shoulder-length red hair, red eyes and a red chin beard. He wears a yellow vest with light green fur rimmed at the top over a long-sleeved mahogany shirt. In addition, he wears purple-gray pants with a brown belt and golden buckle. A green baseball cap with red accents sits on top of his hair as well. He also has a collar device around his neck due to being a participant of the Death Game. While he doesn't initially appear to be much more than friendly and easygoing, Q-taro can be selfish and interested in his own survival over most other things in the Death Game. He is often attracted to anything that would secure his life (i.e. tokens) and rarely acts in the interest of others during the Death Game. He is also very anxious about many situations in the Death Game, as evidenced by his need for a lengthy debate to decide the Challenger during Russian Roulette. His fear and anxiety drive him to do even more selfish things, such as taking the solitary-escape in a bad ending. Further contrasting his appearance, Q-taro is actually rather intelligent. While probably not academically gifted, Q-taro is good with people and can make them act in ways that benefit him. This is demonstrated in the second Main Game, where he collaborated with Keiji on a plan to ensure their survival that possibly even fooled Shin. Another notable example of Q-taro's social intelligence is his accusation of Kanna, Gin, and Nao of being useless in the first Main Game. Due to the accusation, Gin and Nao both proved their worth and avoided being chosen in the preliminary vote. This was very likely Q-taro's intention, as he is visibly shocked when Kanna decides to accept her death. Despite all of this, however, Q-taro has demonstrated a capacity for self-reflection and remorse. He expresses shame at his selfishness and anxiety, calling himself "pathetic" while explaining himself and acting resigned when lectured for his actions. In the route where Alice lives, Q-taro pushes the button that aims the rest of the poison darts at him instead of Gin after he begs for his mother. Q-taro's more casual interactions with other characters are usually positive, due to his friendly personality. When he has a conversation with Sara, he jokes around and asks about her crushes and generally acts nice towards her. As of Chapter 3, Part One, Q-taro has noticeably grown as a person and even forgives Mai for taking action against his life. He is also willing to sacrifice himself for the others and views his past actions as being selfish.
