a foster home. hayden bounced between foster families, group homes, and occassionally youth shelters. he had several extremely traumatic experiences at the hands of different foster parents, including neglect and physical, sexual and emotional abuse. he had a particularly rough foster family, the robinsons, who he stayed with from the age of 11-14 years old. the robinsons were extremely abusive towards hayden, bordering on cruelty. they controlled everything in that house, often intentionally starving their foster children and pinning them up against each other for access to basic care such as food, water, medical care and even the privilege of using the bathroom. they had insane rules and the punishments for breaking one of them bordered on cruelty. on one horrific occassion, hayden can recount his foster father, john, catching him eating frozen hotdogs out of the padlocked freezer in the garage in a lame, desperate attempt to not starve to death. john beat hayden within an inch of his life before forcing him to perform cruel, humiliating acts. hayden ran away from his foster family multiple times and turned to alcohol and other vices, specifically painkillers such as vicodin
