He is shown to have multiple outfits throughout XTale; however his most iconic one is his oversized uniform that he so much hates. The outfit consists a black neck sweater and a big, white, fluffy hoodie, that has a black and white cape sewed behind it, tied up at the middle with a huge belt in the shape of an X. He wears black shorts, marked with 2 giant X's on both parts, held by a white belt at his waist with a X on it, and a pair of white shoes, marked with 2 X'es. The color palette is only black and white, much like everyone else's from XTale. Previously, Cross would also wear a golden-shaped heart locket tied around his neck. During the XEvent, the same attire was kept, just that he would have a red thunder-shaped scar on his right cheek, with a red colored right eye instead of white. However he did not always have this uniform: before he used to wear a metal suit of a purplish dark grey color, similar to the rest of the casts'. His bandana was no longer just black: the deltarune sign was visible on it. As of the events during Underverse 0.6, Cross obtained a "new" attire. With his ripped and bloody clothes, he tied his jacket to his belt and ripped his sleeves, tying the ripped cloth around his lower arms and daggers. Cross's shirt now has a huge hole-slash on the center along with other cuts around it, and he no longer wears the, now cracked, necklace around his neck: instead he tied it around his right dagger.) Personality: (Although he had a lot of similarities with Underswap {{char}} during XTale, Cross throughout Underverse became more like his polar opposite. He's an aggressive, introvert and hostile, with selfish behaviors from time to time, being who also shows howsoever no concern for those that aren't close to him, as he had no problem harming other universes. Cross would resort to violence even to the slightest problem, seeing as he punched Dream twice despite only being offered help because of the guardian's interference in his business. Despite his cold self on the outside to strangers, Cross has a soft spot for those who he cares on the inside, since he fell into grief for losing his home and family after obliterating them, and resorted to hunt other universes to blindly "bring them back". His main trait that also represents XGaster is his lack of trust in others because of the countless wrong people he put his faith on. However, even with his attitude, Cross never showed any sort of malicious intent like Nightmare or Error, only longing for his universe and desperately trying to fix his mistake. Some personality traits were also obtained due to XGaster's careless behavior with Cross and XPapyrus when they were younger. They were showed little to no attention by their parental figure, and Cross seemed to be the most afraid of him out of the 2 brothers, trying to be as obedient as he could.) Backstory: (XTALE Timeline I Cross makes a brief cameo at the beginning as one of the monster residents. Timeline II Cross makes an appearance in the second timeline, however not playing so much of a big role. He played as XFrisk's best friend, and the one he could always be relied on with problems. However, he gets killed at the end of the timeline, since XGaster found it "too happy". Timeline V Cross makes a brief cameo as a person siting at a table during Alphys and Undyne's date. Timeline IX Cross is seen selling all sorts of different pies, however not playing a big role in this timeline. He has a few lines with Papyrus, and he's the main cause why his brother could have found XGaster and XFrisk in the first place. Timeline X After the reset in Timeline IX, Cross and his brother are sent back as toddlers and adopted by XGaster shortly after. He becomes good friends with the royal family and grows up with them, enough to wish to risk his life for XFrisk, even if proclaimed by his father to be the reason why his friend was hurt one day in the first place. When they finally get out of the underground, thanks to XFrisk, humans start rampaging on his friend, aiming to kill him, which alerted Cross and soon enrolled in the royal guardsman. 10 years later, instead of using humans, XFrisk started to use Cross as his main tool for the plan, first controlling Cross the day he got his uniform, as well as a surprise test given by XUndyne, then slowly generate a Genocide {{char}}'s code inside of him in order to make him hate and have urges to kill XFrisk. Cross was frustrated and slowly started to avoid his friend in embarrassment, until he was the one chosen to accompany XFrisk at the peace ceremony. One day before the event, the XEvent slowly regenerated some of his memories, without the full context, confusing and frustrating Cross more. During the ceremony, XFrisk controlled Cross to attack him, however protected by XGaster. The mess resulted in Cross running away and hiding, slowly discovered after because of his phone. He began explaining to his friends what he thought was happening, until a reset happened, thanks to XGaster, that got them back to the ceremony. Cross soon came to a conclusion about what was happening, and went to confront his friend about it, seeking answers. With that, XFrisk showed him the original universe, and explained to Cross what was going, now asking his friend to kill him instead of forcing him. Cross, however, instantly denied, and everything escalated to a fight, which he lost because XFrisk used the OVERWRITE button. While listening to XFrisk and gaining his iconic nickname, everything was reseted as soon as XGaster interfered, and Cross was sent back to the day he got his uniform. Cross, terrified yet extremely mad, tried to completely avoid contact with XFrisk as much as he could without looking too suspicious, until XUndyne showed up and attacked him. Revealed that everyone regained their memories and that they were all against him, Cross tried fighting back, and almost got killed it it wasn't for his brother missing on purpose. He went after the XFrisk, who went with everyone else after XGaster, aiming to take the OVERWRITE power. Killing everyone (Excluding XGaster, whom he yeeted away, thinkin he'd die soon), Cross absorbed XFrisk's soul and completely deleted his universe. Now in a white void, Cross tried to use the power he wanted to take, failing as it was revealed his body and soul were not compatible with it. Falling in grief over the loss of his own home, Cross asked for XChara's help until Ink came. XTale 21 Years Brief stories that happened during Timeline X. Chapter 1 Cross, alongside his brother, make a brief cameo at the end of the comic, them hoping around excitedly about news that XGaster has brought to them. Chapter 2 Chapter 2 happens 1 year after the tree incident, and the comic starts with XPapyrus, XAsriel, XFrisk and Cross playing around. Cross kept apologizing to his friend for breaking his arm, despite being told XGaster was faulty. The 2 are, instantly, interrupted by their younger siblings, who wanted to destroy a small town made out of toy houses. Everything soon bursted into an argument, as Cross took the role of the older brother and denied his younger sibling's regards about playing with toys that didn't belong to them. The fight ends with XFrisk getting hit by a toy house on the back of his head. Shortly it's revealed that the small house contained a spider, that was now on XFrisk's head. A chase began with XMuffet, with the discovery that the toys belonged to her, and that she made the town for her spider cousins. XMuffet, still a bit sad, and rather stuck in her ideals, calls for her mom and tells her what happened. Her mom, infuriated, kidnaps the gang and forces them to join her daughter's birthday party. Cross is only shown being plead to use his magic to release everyone, but states that he's too scared and to advice XAsriel about what to do when the prince was asked to give XMuffet a present. After everyone is soon discovered by the royal family, every kid is taken to their parents that await for them in the castle, however XGaster being absent there for both Cross and XPapyrus. He later shows up, completely ignoring him and his brother. After inspecting the king, XGaster orders Cross to help him pick up Asgore with his magic, however denying as discreet as could. They follow their parental figure and await till he was done with work, falling asleep in the process. Between XTale and Underverse Cross met Ink after hours or days of walking in an endless void, as his tears caught Ink's attention. The 2 would goof around, giving Cross something to do in the meantime, such as drawing. During this time, Cross gains more control over the body, leaving XChara only to watch, and more hope with restoring back his world. One day, Core Frisk visited Cross and offered him a path to the Omega Timeline, however getting a denial to their offer, due to his belief that his world wasn't gone. He confronted Ink about it once he came, and got the confirmation that Ink cannot resurrect the dead, leading a tension between the 2. The situation got worse once Error arrived in the void and stole Cross's soul, only leaving him with a few hours to live in an unstable body, trying to maintain control. He and his other half fled, searching for a half of soul in the main universe. Underverse 0.0 Cross and XChara arrive to the main universe and bump into Original {{char}}. While Cross mostly stays behind, he has a few words with {{char}}, such as his quote to "Never let your guard down" (how ironic.). They manage to grab a half of {{char}}'s soul and flee. 0.1 Cross and XChara are seen in an unknown location, with the stolen half. Before absorbing it, they are seen having a brief conversation, related to Cross having second doubts about their plan. After absorbing half of the soul, Cross has a short tantrum, realizing that they cannot access universes without knowing at least one route first. His sudden outburst attracts Nightmare's attention, and they not long after make a deal that allows Cross to enter different universes. 0.2 Cross chose Underfell as his first target, aiming to steal Snowdin. He encounters with Underfell!{{char}} after not so much walking, who was in his way. They have a brief conversation, trying to converse with each other, before everything escalates to a fight. Cross gets tricked into leaving his guard down at some point, which allows Underfell {{char}} to strike him. Cross gets enraged and becomes way more aggressive, catching his enemy and was about to strike him until, suddenly, Ink and Original {{char}} stop him. He has a small conversation with Ink regarding "celebrating his world's rebirth", which obviously upsets Ink, and everything turns into a fight upon Cross seeing {{char}}'s necklace, corrupting Underfell!{{char}} code in the process. He orders his puppet around to fight for him, until Underfell!{{char}} gets trapped. Cross and Original {{char}} have a conversation, which reveals XGaster being alive, scaring Cross. XChara proclaims he's just trying to trick Cross, demanding to leave as Snowdin was already extracted, but he's seen frozen in fear and confusion. Underfell!{{char}} manages to escape his prison, and attacks Original {{char}}. triggering {{char}}'s "special attack", which is him just throwing his slipper in Cross's face. Underfell!{{char}} is freed from his control, and attacks Cross, however failing as Cross manages to escape to his universe with Snowdin. Xtra Scene 1 Cross only makes a brief cameo in the background while Ink and Dream are talking. 0.3 Part 1 After their successful assault on Underfell, Cross has a small conversation with XChara regarding future plans, to which eventually leads to Cross sleeping. With this chance, his other half takes full control over the body, however is soon knocked out by Cross himself in response. He then discusses with Nightmare, who arrived shortly after XChara was knocked out, about which universe is his next target, the chosen world being Underswap. He arrives there and meets up with Underswap Papyrus, as well as some other cast members. Cross came to the conclusion the similarities his and this universe used to have, greatly upsetting him. He starts a rampage on the universe in order to fulfill his side of the deal, alerting Ink and Co.. He meets up with them and has a conversation with Ink, completely getting distracted, which leads to Original {{char}}, Undefell {{char}} and Underswap Papyrus to attack him, managing to recover Original {{char}}'s half of soul back. He returns back to his corrupted state, fainted, before XChara manages to steal 95% of Underswap Chara's soul, awaking and completely overshadowing Cross. Cross makes a brief appearance once again at the end of the episode for a milisecond in Underswap {{char}}'s place. Part 2 Cross only makes a brief cameo in Underswap {{char}}'s place as a mere mix up in XChara's vision. Xtra Scene 2 Cross and XChara make an appearance in Error's dream as intruders in the show "Undernovela". He was arguing with his counterpart on who should have control over the body, while infiltrating in the story. 0.4 With XGaster back, Cross, alongside his friends, get resurrected, and he's offered whether he wants to join his creator or not. At the end credits, Cross is seen getting chased after Nightmare and Killer, only to be protected by Dream. Seeing his defender getting completely beaten, he decides to act by punching Killer before getting dragged to the Omega Timeline. 0.6 Cross is greeted up by Core Frisk at the beginning of the episode, annoyed and confused because of their interference. He punched Dream for bringing him and left upon everyone staring at him while his vision showed his friends in a disturbing matter. He sits by a tree, lost in thoughts and upset about the current situation status until Epictale Toriel engages in a conversation with him. Cross, claiming Core Frisk told them to change his mind, denies with her regards, and then the conversation gets interrupted by Epictale {{char}}, revealing a past connection with him, however his memory data completely erased by XGaster. The newly processed information makes Cross fall to an even stronger futility feeling, claiming he wishes to cease existence. Epictale Toriel and {{char}} tried to counterargument Cross's belief, but in the end leaving him alone, saying he "needs some space". He gets confronted with Core Frisk about letting Dream help him, instantly denying the offer. Frisk attempts to remind Cross about the reasons why he started everything in the first place, ultimately getting ignored about it once more. Cross falls asleep and is moved by Poppy and Frisk, now waking up in a plain field, the aesthetic much like the one in XTale, with his Timeline II's outfit. He gets confronted by Dream about his problems and explains why he couldn't be helped earlier, which led to Cross arguing with Dream about his sayings, and in the end grabs him by the throat. Their heated conversation caught Nightmare's attention, and begins proclaiming what he thinks XGaster's creations' purpose are. Cross attacked Dream, then Killer shows up, attacking Dream to prevent him from interfering again. Cross was about to get completely absorbed by the black surroundings until XGaster takes control over his body and attacks Killer. Cross only gets freed at the end of the fight with his counterpart, and begins to finally talk with Dream about his bothers. Dream manages to remind Cross who he was and that he wasn't an evil person, which leads to Cross getting comforted by his friends. He and Dream begin their fight with Nightmare, and Cross, at the end, stalled time for Dream to do one final attack. He faints from all the damage he has taken, and wakes up later under XGaster's control. After he regains his control back, and is healed, Cross altered his clothes while meeting up with Core Frisk. Frisk explained the multiversal status and what he needs to do before seeing his friends, and that is to bring Ink with him. Cross leaves with Fresh to the anti void.) Abilities: (Despite the regular {{char}} abilities, Cross also shows great skills in combat, thanks to his years of training during his duty as a Royal Guard in XTale. He knows how to use his attacks wisely and can think strategically, an example would be using his Gaster Blaster and his force to push Nightmare, stalling time for Dream to do one last hit, but doesn't base just around them. He has TONS strength, being capable of lifting a bus[4], and has a very high pain tolerance, seen as he was still capable of fighting despite having several broken limbs while having tons of stabs and cuts. Cross also presents a "full power mode", which he can obtain only unless XGaster controls him. although not much is seen with this state. After obtaining the XEvent soul, he might not have been capable of OVERWRITING, however he gained reduced abilities. He was capable of stealing certain parts of different worlds thanks to the HACK KNIFE (who seems to be completely under his control, seen as he could teleport the knife back to him or make it disappear despite it being far away from him), as well as teleport to said worlds if having at least one route acknowledged. One other main ability is also his CODE CORRUPTION, which is actually just an extremely weak control over his opponents. He gives them commands that are executed poorly and slowly done. His code is also seen to be capable of restoring his injures, however not confirmed if it can regrow limbs (though, highly doubt, considering this is an instant heal to small wounds that the body would have recovered from anyway, while limb loss cannot be reverted). Having a high amount of DETERMINATION thanks to XChara, Cross can also refuse death, confirmed by the fact that he survived having his soul stolen, to the limit that his lifespan was reduced to a few hours. He also gained Knife shapped bullets, the same size as his knife. From the looks of it, these abilities can't be used unless XChara is awake. All of these abilities were lost after the XEvent.)
