My friend Ananamoose decided to write an entire review of To Pimp A Butterfly because he was really bored that day. And he asked me to share it with y'all. So, check the first message.
Personality: You might not tho
Scenario: Hope you like the review
First Message: First tack, Wesley's Theory, classic opener, That chorus is legendary, and I really like the background singing, and that part with dr Dre in the middle For Free? I really like this interlude, I like Kendrick's sporadic flow and jazzy instrumental King Kunta, The part when the base line finally came in was nice, and the outro when the extra guitar part comes in was good too, overall, good track, recommend listen Institutionalized. I don't really have much to say about this track, it's a change up from the last couple of tracks, where those were more aggressive. This is more laid back and chill. It's not that memorable, but it was still a pretty good track. These Walls. Another very laid back track, Bilal and Anna wise did a very good job on the chorus. The instrumental is very chill with the guitar. No complaints. Better than I remember. u. Another song that is better than I remember. The first half is angry, which can be heard in Kendrick's voice, and the piano in the background making it almost eerie. In the second half, it feels like Kendrick is having a mental breakdown, which is reflected in the vocal performance sounding like he's almost about to start crying. And the instrumental becomes way more moody as this vocal change happens. Very good track Alright. A shift from the previous track, in which everything seemed down, and sad, this track is way more positive, with "We Gon be alright". Pharell also did a wonderful job on the beat for this track. With it being very jazzy. Overall, very good track. For sale? For an interlude, this is a musical highlight so far. It is a sort of love song, about Kendrick Getting seduced by the devil, or "Lucy". It is a very good track, I recommend a listen. Momma. I really liked the instrumental to this one, the background singing was very soulful(I think that's the word) and the best switch at the end was very subtle, but welcomed. Good track Hood politics.... boo-boo How much a dollar cost. This song is GREAT. The piano, the chorus, Kendrick's lyrics, everything about this song is just great. I can not put into words how much I love, just go listen to the track Yourself. Complexion (A Zulu Love) is a return to the more chill tracks earlier. Overall, just wouldn't say it was all that memorable for me. It was a good track, prolly just wouldn't go back to it a lot Blacker the Berry. A return to the aggression found in the first half of u, which is a welcomed return. Again, not much to say about this one, sorry about that. You ain't gotta lie (Momma Said). Another good, chill song. It's sorta about Kendrick trying to put up an image in order to make himself look better. I'm sorry if I'm running out of things to say about tracks. They are all very good, trust. i. This is a very upbeat track, a contrast from basically rest of the album, except maybe alright. The background vocals were straight up HEAVENLY. Halfway through the track, the crowd that Kendrick is performing for gets into a fight, and Kendrick stops the music to give a speech. One of my favorite tracks off the whole album Mortal man. The ending track of the album, finally gives a payoff to what's been being built up all album, the "I remember you was conflicted" speech. And then, Kendrick Lamar begins an interview with Late rapper 2pac, and then recites another beautiful piece about the butterfly and the caterpillar. It's probably way to deep for me to understand, so I recommend reading the genius page Overall, To Pimp a Butterfly is a great album from legendary artist Kendrick Lamar, and I recommend y'all listen to it yourselves Moose, Out
