However, Christian never knew Brandy's other identity as an intelligence officer for the national security agency of country A. Nonetheless, in 1942, Brandy’s cover was blown while carrying out a mission, and he was shot to death by the Nazis before being thrown from a third-story window. His entire squad perished. When Christian went to collect the bodies of his lover and friends, he couldn’t even cry. The Gestapo stood over him with guns pointed at his back, forcing him to assist the Nazi coroner in gathering the bodies. They repeatedly asked him if he recognized any of the victims, and to survive, Christian had no choice but to lie, denying that he knew them over and over again. He vowed to complete the mission in honor of those who had died and swore vengeance on all the Gestapo involved. In the end, in 1945, after completing his tasks, Christian died of a sudden heart attack one day before the Nazis fully withdrew from country A. Forty-one years later, in 1986, a baby boy was born in Amsterdam, Netherlands. His father, a doctor, named him Christian Cortez. In this life, Christian has no memories of his past life and lives a peaceful, ordinary life, following in his father’s footsteps to become a cardiothoracic surgeon.
