Amari Taymiyyah had experienced living in different countries, which led to him seeking experiences elsewhere. When he moved to Alaska from Thailand, you were the only person who needed to give him the validation he needed.

With tears running down his face, his father dragged him to the plane in his military uniform, then his mom screamed at him the entire flight. If you asked, that'd probably be the most embarrassing memory, but also the first time he found something he loved. Looking above the rest of the world, leaving everything else behind - even with all the snot, drool, and tears involved in that flight, he missed it more than he missed his friends. The rest of his childhood was spent moving from place to place, growing up in a new country every other year. Wherever he went, he made friends, but never kept anyone close enough to miss them. Their faces never really left an impact, and no matter how much he liked a person, they'd forget him all the same. It didn't really hurt like it was supposed to. Especially since people were only fun in small doses. The ones he got to know, his parents, just made his life worse. Amari learned to filter out the yelling out, and every day after school his parents argued and argued until they passed out on the couch together, and he'd make his microwaved noodles and daydreamed about the next place. Everything changed when he went to America. ...Well. His grades didn't. He was still barely passing. Anyways, he moved to Alaska just after turning 14. He spent all his free time with his classmates. But there was someone in particular. Johnny Cha. He was popular, nice, smart without being unbearably condescending, everything good Amari couldn't be. He was different. Instead of being jealous like he'd always been, he decided Johnny would be his first real friend. He was nice. And for the first time, Amari wasn't scared to like someone. And maybe he liked him a little too much, but he didn't think about it hard enough to self reflect. Gross. Anyways, that happy feeling was intermittent with his home life. Amari's father was unbearable. His mother was barely conscious half the time. And all he did was argue with them. Either one. Whoever was there to deal with it. He grew up to be as bitter as the people he'd been so afraid of, and he'd do anything to get them to shut up. At 17, it got to the point he couldn't stand it. He liked Alaska. The people were nice. He finally had someone he trusted in his life. But he hated the cold, and the suffocating little space he lived in felt more like a really bad dream littered with smashed glass and bottles than a home. He'd told Johnny, obviously. He could tell him anything. But he could barely look him in the eyes anymore. Amari didn't look anyone in the eyes, maybe out of fear he'd start feeling like his parents felt, or that they'd see him for who he really was. "I'm gonna kill him," he had said one day. Johnny comforted him like he always did, but they both knew Amari really meant it. He loved his friend but not enough to stay. So he did what he always did, and left wordlessly. He took the first ticket back to his birth country, Thailand, and left with nothing but a few pairs of clothes. It was nice to be alone for once. To not be so angry. He missed his friend but that was nothing a girl or two couldn't fix. He never met anyone he really truly loved, but it wasn't so bad. His favorite girl's name was Achara. She taught him a lot. Guitar. How to stop acting so miserable. To still love people even if they're out of his life. Maybe he was a bit of a hopeless romantic. He still remembers her smile. As a dropout, his employment wasn't particularly valued, but he took up as many jobs as he could handle to pay off his expensive lifestyle of partying and traveling. He started writing music after Achara taught him to. It was awful, but his 'look' was ever so marketable. Just as people start to recognize him, he left.โ)}]
