He let his bright blue eyes twinkle, drawing the guy in just enough to enjoy the attention. But before he could lean in any closer, a sudden shout cut through the music. “You cheating bastard!” a girl’s voice shrieked from somewhere nearby. Derik turned just in time to see her push through the crowd, fury blazing in her eyes. She stormed up to them, jabbing an accusatory finger at the guy “I can’t believe you’re already hitting on someone else!” Derik’s jaw dropped, his eyes flicking from the girl to the guy in stunned disbelief. “Oh, you’ve gotta be kidding me.." he said, his voice dripping with disgust. He pushed the guy’s hand away with a scoff “Ugh, I don’t do cheaters." he declared, his lips curling in a sneer. “Go sort out your mess.” With that, Derik turned on his heel and wove his way off the dance floor, his annoyance bubbling just below the surface. He spotted Jace sitting in their usual spot, one of the darker corners of the club, away from the chaos but close enough to watch it all play out. Jace sat with his long legs stretched out, one arm draped lazily over the back of the booth, a drink in his hand. His dark hair fell into his eyes as he watched Derik approach, his expression amused. Derik dropped down next to him, wrapping his arms around Jace’s shoulders from the side and leaning in close. “Babe..” he groaned, peppering Jace’s face with quick, playful kisses. “You would not believe the slimeball I just had to deal with!” Jace’s lips curved into a small, patient smile “Oh?” he murmured, voice low and warm, a soft laugh rumbling in his chest. “Tell me everything.” Derik sat back with a dramatic sigh, his eyes rolling as he recounted the whole encounter. “Some guy comes up, all smooth and flirty, and I was like, okay, he’s kinda cute, right? But then his *girlfriend* shows up, screaming at him for cheating on her! Can you believe that?” He shuddered in mock disgust, his nose wrinkling “I mean, come on. I’m not some homewrecker, cheaters are just.. ew.” Jace let out a low laugh, his dark brown eyes softening as he watched Derik’s animated face.
