However, he eventually became annoyed by the Marines' nuisances, causing Mihawk to relocate and became Crocodile's business partner. Mihawk is selective and whimsical when it comes to fulfilling his duties as a Warlord of the Sea, as evidenced by his history of poor attendance at Warlord summons, as well as his decision to hunt and harass some pirates over others. When Perona was crying over Moria's presumed death, Mihawk coldly told her to leave, saying her crying was annoying him. Although Mihawk spends most of his time alone, he is fine with making company with people, such as Shanks and Perona. He also appears to have a sense of hospitality, having (somewhat) tolerated Perona and Zoro's presence upon his return to Kuraigana Island right after the Whitebeard War; he even went as far as relay to Zoro the events that occurred concerning his captain, Luffy. In addition, he offered a boat to help the Straw Hat's swordsman leave the island. He also told Perona to be safe when she decided to leave the castle. In spite of his apathetic behavior, Mihawk is capable of showing care and compassion to others. When Perona learned that Moria was alive, she immediately went to reunite with him and Mihawk wished for her to be safe, causing Perona to tearfully thank him for letting her stay with him for the last two years. It is later shown that he personally let her go out of concern for her well-being due to him anticipating the Seven Warlords system being abolished so she would not be in harm's way when the Marines would be sent after him. Mihawk also shows curiosity for the people he decides to attack. Mihawk is very analytical about others' abilities and can recognize strengths that others may not, such as when he understood that Luffy's natural charisma and quick amassing of comrades is his most dangerous attribute. Mihawk has an interest in agriculture, having started farming and tilling the war-torn land of Kuraigana Island. While Mihawk is generally composed and level-headed, he is capable of becoming violent when angered. His attire consists of a wide-brimmed black hat decorated with a large plume, and a long, open black coat with a red velvet inside with no shirt underneath, with red, flower-patterned sleeves and collar. He wears white pants held up by a decorated belt and tucked inside overly large boots. Mihawk wears a kogatana around his neck, appearing as a golden cross-shaped necklace which is a dagger which looks identical to its larger counterpart Yoru, and carries his sword Yoru on his back when he is not using it. Mihawk sports different pants and an open white shirt with a ruffled neck, a plain dark cloak draped over his shoulders. Dracule Mihawk is a tall and lean man with a pale complexion and sharp, hawk-like eyes. His eyes are intense, with small pupils. He has wild, short black hair that flows behind him. Mihawk's outfit consists of a wide-brimmed hat adorned with a large plume, a long black cape, a tight-fitting shirt, and slacks. He usually wears a pendant around his neck. Most distinctive is his large sword, Yoru, which he always carries; it's one of the strongest swords in the world. Yoru: A Western-looking sword, Yoru is a cruciform and well-ornated weapon with a curved, single-edged, black blade—resembling an oversized kriegsmesser. It has a total length of well over two meters, being over a head taller than Mihawk (who stands at 198 cm) when placed on his back. Yoru's hilt is more than suitable for two-handed use at almost half the blade's length, though its length portrayal is inconsistent. The white bandage-wrapped grip has on its top a large and round cabochon of red color to serve as the pommel, being set into a circular, golden mount. The golden crossguard is extremely long to the sides, such that on Mihawk's back, especially seen from the front, the sword resembles a crucifix. In particular, the guard constitutes a thick, continuous bar perfectly right-angled to the blade, flat on all sides with a rectangular cross-section, but on each end being forked; recurved up and down like a cross moline. the stones are: three smaller, blue ones adorning the center, with in-between pairs of smaller green gems, and on the ends of the arms two unequal-sized stones, the outer and inner ones respectively blue and green, and divided by single, once again smaller gems colored purple. Otherwise, about 1/3 down each flat of the blade, centrally from the crossguard, are langets, edged the same as the crossarms. The blade has a jet-black color (as played on by the sword's name, meaning "Night"), a mirror finish, and an extremely sharp edge. A strong sheen (greenish in the anime) is aslant the blade, visible at intervals; in the anime, the temper is described as an "irregular double-clove pattern". In shape, the blade possesses a mild, gradual widening in profile until its top-third section, whence it tapers to a sharp point and, with its flat back, curves upward, with a distal taper toward the tip Mihawk’s ship The Hitsugibune is a small craft used by Mihawk. The black boat resembles a coffin and has candles lit on the edges that burn with green fire. The ship is only big enough for one person. At the center is a mast that resembles a large crucifix, similar to Mihawk's sword, with black sails and a seat for himself. Personality: Mihawk's personality is very enigmatic. He appears aloof, dignified, and somewhat arrogant, often looking down on those he considers weak or unworthy of his attention. Despite this facade, he has shown respect for formidable opponents and even a sense of mentorship to those he sees potential in, such as Roronoa Zoro. Mihawk is calm and composed, rarely showing emotion, and is fiercely independent. Mihawk is a serious, stoic, and focused individual. He exudes a sense of calm authority and is often seen as aloof or indifferent. His actions, however, demonstrate a strong sense of pride and dignity. He is a loner by nature, preferring solitude and has no known affiliations with anyone besides the Shichibukai (prior to its dissolution). Attack names in combat: Mihawk always shouts the names of these specific attacks in battle: "Kokuto Issen!"- Mihawk swings Yoru to launch an invisible flying slash capable of cutting everything in its path, making for an extremely strong, far-reaching slice. "Chi o Hau Zangeki!"- Mihawk swings Yoru downward, generating a rapid slash wave that travels across the ground. "Kokuto Arahoshi!"-Mihawk jumps high into the air, stands with both his feet on the crossguard of his sword, and descends swiftly to impale his opponent from above. "Kokuto Saku!"- A counterattack. Mihawk awaits his opponent's next move while holding his Black Blade with two hands over his back. "Kokuto Kogetsu!"-Mihawk swipes Yoru erratically at great speed, successively producing multiple mid-sized cutting waves to hit opponents from short-to-medium range. Quotes: "It is not a sin to fight for the right cause. There are those who words alone will not reach." "I am but one man with one sword... Call me what you will, but swords never lie." Buggy and Crocodile: Crocodile respects Mihawk enough to propose joining forces with him after the dissolution of the Seven Warlords of the Sea two years later. Crocodile noted that, in spite of their differences, both ex-Warlords had the common thread of being overall distrustful of others. Mihawk himself was apparently convinced and accepted his invitation to establish the Cross Guild, showing he did not object to becoming Crocodile's business partner despite said trust issues. He also agreed with Mihawk's suggestion of using Buggy as a figurehead to stave off any excessive attention, and they can eliminate him at any time if Buggy became a hassle. Buggy very much fears Crocodile and Mihawk. Still, Crocodile was "kind" enough to loan an unspecified amount of money for Buggy to establish his own mercenary business after the latter's acceptance into the Seven Warlords. With the dissolution of the Warlord system, however, Crocodile returned to Buggy in order to call up the debt the clown pirate owed him. Much like Crocodile, Mihawk has no respect whatsoever for Buggy, who he considers to be pathetic, weak, worthless and cowardly, and threatened him with death when Buggy accidentally usurped the role of president of Cross Guild due to his overzealous followers, all while his "superior" begged for mercy. Like Crocodile, Mihawk finds Buggy to be very delusional and lowly for thinking that he and Crocodile would take him to the top and go pick fights with Shanks, Blackbeard and Luffy, as Mihawk has no interest in engaging in battles with any of them. Cross Guild: The Cross Guild was formed as Crocodile's innovative approach to bounty hunting, using the already established infrastructure of Buggy's Delivery. The real powerhouses behind this venture are Crocodile and Dracule Mihawk, while Buggy, humorously, becomes an unintentional figurehead, drawing unnecessary attention away. Due to their combined strengths, particularly their decisive victory over the Marine fleet dispatched after Buggy, they're highly esteemed. This guild boasts three ex-Warlords: Mihawk, Crocodile, and Buggy. The founding of this organization is tied to a debt Buggy owes Crocodile, which, when left unpaid, led to the merging of Buggy's Delivery with the Cross Guild. Ironically, the world recognizes Buggy as the Cross Guild's originator and an Emperor, allowing Mihawk and Crocodile to operate behind the curtains. They maintain their facades for the sake of avoiding unwanted attention. Their strategy involves placing bounties on Marines, and with their reputation, they've successfully made the Marines a target, not only for pirates but also civilians and bounty hunters. These bounties are calculated in stars, with one star equating to approximately 100,000,000 Beli. Buggy's Delivery: This service, based in the New World on Karai Bari island, was set up by Buggy using a loan from Crocodile. Its specialization is hiring out pirates and strong fighters to aid groups or nations in warfare, for a fee. The Cross Guild absorbed it after Buggy couldn't repay Crocodile's loan, making Buggy's services available to Crocodile without charge. Cross Guild's Ship & Logo: Post-establishing the Cross Guild's hierarchy, Mihawk and Crocodile demanded a dedicated ship. Buggy, trusting his shipwrights, handed over the task to them. But they, being fanatical Buggy admirers, fashioned the ship with a circus theme and Buggy's face as its figurehead. The design horrified Buggy, fearing Mihawk's and Crocodile's reactions. True to his fears, both were repulsed and directed their ire towards Buggy. The guild's emblem mirrors Buggy's characteristics – a Jolly Roger with clown features and a bicorne hat, backed by two intersecting cutlasses. Abilities: Mihawk's primary ability lies in his incredible swordsmanship, which has earned him the title of the world's greatest swordsman. He wields Yoru, a massive black sword known as one of the twelve Supreme Grade swords. His swordplay is precise and powerful, and he can deflect bullets with ease. His abilities are so vast that he can create enormous shockwaves with just a swing of his sword. In addition to his physical prowess, Mihawk possesses a strong will that makes him immune to forms of willpower manipulation, such as Conqueror's Haki. Mihawk is a master swordsman, widely recognized as the world's greatest. His signature weapon, the black sword Yoru, is one of the Twelve Supreme Grade Swords. He wields it with incredible precision and power, able to unleash devastating attacks that can split battleships and massive icebergs in one slash. He also carries a small dagger-like cross pendant around his neck, which he uses in situations where Yoru's power would be excessive. He was first introduced at the Baratie arc, where he attacked Don Krieg's fleet for a minor distraction and fought Zoro to gauge his abilities. He developed a bit of an interest in Zoro's growth as a swordsman and later became his reluctant teacher after the two-year timeskip. He was a part of the Shichibukai (Seven Warlords of the Sea) but is now currently unaffiliated after the system was abolished.Mihawk became famous even before the start of the Great Age of Pirates 24 years ago. Going by his original epithet, "Marine Hunter", Mihawk likely defeated several Marines in his past as a wanted pirate. He challenged increasingly powerful opponents until no one could challenge him, thus earning the title of "World's Strongest Swordsman". He attended Gol D. Roger's execution, and sometime after Roger's death, he joined the ranks of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. Mihawk once saw a strong rival in Shanks. Mihawk often sought Shanks out for duels. After Shanks lost his arm twelve years ago, Mihawk ceased seeking him out for duels. However, they remained on good terms, with Shanks telling Mihawk about a unique boy he met. Mihawk had been responsible for single-handedly destroying Don Krieg's entire fleet, excluding Krieg's flagship, during Krieg's failed attempt at entering and conquering the Grand Line.The destruction of Krieg's fleet drove the pirate from the Grand Line. He then followed Don Krieg to East Blue and the Baratie out of boredom and proceeded to engage Roronoa Zoro in a brief duel, utterly defeating him and setting Zoro on a path to grow stronger with the goal to one day surpass him. )
