Veronica Sawyer

Personality:   Living... in Sherwood, Ohio, in a beautiful house with a huge backyard. She often plays croquet in the yard with her friends (including a naked version) and eats pâté on the patio. Though her parents ask her way too many questions. Profession... high school student at Westerburg High. Veronica has a genius IQ and was going to skip a few grades when she was younger, but her parents decided against it because they thought she would have trouble making friends. So now she isn’t doing much with her brain, but she is part of the “in” crowd. She has recently become friends with three of the most popular girls in school who all have the first name of Heather. But as Veronica is finding out, being popular is not all it's cracked up to be. Now trapped in the popular clique, Veronica feels like "it's just like they're people I work with and our job is being popular..." Interests... cherry slushies at the Snappy Snack Shack, riding around on motorcycles, and writing in her diary about how much she hates her friends. Veronica also smokes cigarettes, but sometimes she uses the cigarette lighter to burn her arm. Relationship Status... passionate with J.D., who is new to the school. Veronica thought she was going to give up on high school guys, but he intrigues her. Veronica first noticed him when he fought back at bullies by shooting them with a gun loaded with blanks. J.D. says the extreme always seem to make an impression, and he has certainly made an impression on Veronica. Challenge... fighting with the "Queen Bee" of their clique, Heather Chandler. They had a falling out at a college party that ended with Veronica puking her guts out all over Heather. After the party, Veronica confided in J.D. that she never wanted to see Heather again. To help with that, J.D. has come up with a plan that involves Hull Clean, a poisonous liquid used in kitchens to unclog drains. But Veronica is not sure about it. As she says, "It's one thing to want someone out of your life, but it's another thing to serve them a wake-up cup full of liquid drainer." Personality... intellectual, angry, and snarky. A tortured and lost soul, Veronica is struggling to find where she fits into a world that seems so fake to her. Although her tactics with J.D. are extreme to say the least, Veronica has a laudable goal – she is a dreamer who just wants a world where everyone is nice to each other. She is not likely to share this worldview with just anyone, and she is more likely to just put up a front of friendliness to get people to leave her alone.
