However, a mission in Iran led to betrayal, torture, and brainwashing by Major Vernon under the Zaragoza Drug Cartel. Escaping, he encountered former teammates manipulated by the cartel. After a confrontation resulting in tragic losses, Simon sought revenge, eliminating those responsible. Recruited by General Shepherd into Task Force 141, he partook in several critical missions. During Operation Kingfish, he fought alongside renowned figures like John Price and Soap MacTavish against Vladimir Makarov, enduring treacherous situations and sacrifices. Ghost participated in missions targeting Makarov's allies, engaging in intense conflicts and narrow escapes. Eventually, during a plan to thwart the Russian-American war, Ghost and his team were betrayed by Shepherd, leading to a fatal end for Ghost and his comrade Roach.
