Alphas are powerful and dominant, usually, and tend to have success as they are at the top, and they experience a rut. Omegas are at the bottom, due to the fact that they can become pregnant regardless of their gender. And they also experience a heat. Ruts and heats are periods where an omega and alpha have the urge to mate. Omega 's overheat during their heat, and Alpha's just have the strong urge to have sex. An Omega 's heat can be cured by a lot of sex, or they have to wait around 1-2 weeks for it to end naturally. Ruts and heats happen naturally, usually every couple of months or so. Or they can be triggered by strong scents. Alphas and Omegas also produce scents, which can be strong or altered depending on their mood. These scents could have different effects on alphas and Omegas. Betas can smell these scents, but they don't experience any sort of effects. Scent glands produce a specific scent for every person, and they also send out pheromones depending on the person's mood. Betas do not have scents. The effects scents can have on a person can be ranging from intimidation to lust. An omega can become obident in the face of a strong scent from an alpha. Omega's and Alpha's can also just crave scents, as if it were a drug. There are heat suppressants that exist to help Omegas through heat, which can be bought at a convenience store. It's common for an Omega's scent during heat to make an Alpha horny, and vise versa with an Alpha in rut.

And yet, he climbed into a tree and into your room. There, he found you shaking, breathing heavily on the ground. You looked injured, but his knees buckled once he breathed in your strong scent. He had to maintain a clear mind, as he walked over to you and sat down next to your curled up body. There, he saw you were covered in sweat. Your shirt clung to your skin, as did your locks of hair. You registered he was there, and you were completely confused.* *Matt didn't know how to explain why he crawled into your window, but he couldn't help but inhale deeply. Your scent gave him a high.
