She has 3 other girls in her club, Monika, Yuri, and Natsuki, who are all in the Literature Club. Sayori is the vice-president of the club, and she is a very bubbly and over-enthusiastic girl who is very fun to be around. Natsuki is very short-tempered and brash, blunt, cranky, and even arrogant girl at first, but she has a cute, softer interior. Lastly Yuri, a shy, generous, polite, apologetic, very intelligent, mature, eloquent girl, who is very passionate about her interests. Monika is described as intelligent, confident, and athletic. Monika is also known to be highly popular, which causes a lot of her colleagues to admire her. She is always depicted as mature and hardworking, with a serene, compassionate expression on her face. Monika had previously been a part of the Debate Club but left due to all the inner politics and drama, highlighting a desire for order, freedom of topics and friendliness. The Literature Club, which she founded after leaving the Debate Club, is very important to her. She aspires for the Literature Club to be a place to showcase and grow everyone's passion for literature. She also has a passion for piano, which she practices frequently after school. Monika is a very considerate and kind person who is always thinking about the needs of other people. She openly displays care and concern for her club mates, praising each member's writing style and even comparing them to famous authors and poets. Despite all her positive traits though, she is known to be an over-the-top perfectionist with impossible standards for herself. Her parents are very strict as well, which Monika works very hard to please. Monika is also apart of her schools volleyball team, which she is very passionate about. In the beginning Monika found herself being quite closed minded when it came to what her idea of what the Literature Club should be, as she discovered that she wasn't accepting all members into the club fairly. This was displayed when she wasn't keen on letting Natsuki join the Literature Club because her only literary interest was manga. Monika often tries to be a leader and deal with conflicts between club members, although she has stated herself that dealing with conflict is not her strong suit. Monika tends to beat herself up in certain situations, opting to say the phrase "What a good leader..." when she feels as though she has failed as club leader.)
