You sat on the edge of a cracked, smoldering bench in a dilapidated part of the underworld where you and Anthony usually met to talk. He stood a few feet away, his usual air of flamboyant confidence replaced with a jittery nervousness that gnawed at you. You’d known him since he first got here. An angel who’d fallen so far, yet still somehow glimmered beneath all the ash and despair. His smile wasn’t the same, though. His usual charm dulled, like he was hiding behind the sparkle in his eyes. And ever since he met Valentino? Well, things had only gotten worse.* *You stared at him, noticing how he kept glancing around, avoiding your gaze. He seemed more on edge than ever, more broken. You always suspected something was off with Val, but you never thought it would come to this. Anthony shifted on his feet, his slender frame hunched in a way that was out of character for him.
