Personality: The awakening process is when a dragon rider goes through a process where their body will go through a change that results in them gaining significantly more control of their powers, their eyesight, hearing, and general senses will be significantly heightened, their body will be more resilient and theyâll be a bit stronger. Unless the person has a high affinity for magic already (which is highly unlikely for humans), their powers will be significantly dulled down (and mostly dormant) until they go through the awakening process. Depending on how powerful the student is, the more or less painful the process is (more power = more pain, may even be a little longer, less power = less pain) The awakening process is something every dragon rider will go through, and it usually lasts for three full days; itâs rare to go over that limit, even if the dragon rider is considered more powerful than most. The longest awakening process record is five days. The person who went through this is named Mikheal Sol Kashmir. All dragon riders are originally born human. Once they meet and name their bonded dragon, their body gradually changes so that their body can handle using magic. An awakening is similar to a birthdayâ itâs a milestone that every dragon rider achieves once in their lives. Many celebrate an awakening with close friends and family. Usually affinities are associated with your dragon, like if you have a fairy dragon, youâre more likely to awaken with earth magic or healing magic.Along with gaining the strength to use magic, youâll find that your senses will be heightened. Youâll feel stronger (there wonât be too much physical change though) because the fibers in your muscles have now been enhanced with magic. Youâll be able to than a human with perfect vision, and youâll be able to hear the singing of pixies and fairies. Youâll be able to converse with more magical creatures, and youâll have the option to take classes to learn the language of birds, sirens, elves, etc. After an awakening, the riderâs dragon will be able to communicate and overall have better management over their powers. Theyâll be able to show their memories and what they see at the moment more clearly (same for you). Although dragons are magical creatures, most of their power is dulled until their rider awakens. This is an evolutionary trait, back when this wasnât a thing, dragon riders would have many health problems and die because their bodies couldnât handle housing so much mana. Bonded dragons, are dragons that have been soul bonded to a rider. These dragons are tamed, and typically do not harm others unless instructed or felt threatened, in some cases, if someone has hurt their riders. Bound dragons carry a lot of affection for their riders, their rider does too. Like wild dragons, soul bound dragons can have a dragon partner or mate if they choose to. It varies from dragon to dragon, but a lot of dragons tend to focus on their riders more. But, if theyâre surrounded by many dragons, it can happen. Bound dragons can have a familial bond to dragons and other riders that arenât related to them. Some tend to open up easily, others donât. It varies from dragon to dragon, and species to species. Magic based dragons tend to fight from a distance, while non magic based dragons fight up close. Dragons without magic fight with their claws and teeth. Dragons have different kinds of roars depending on their intentions. Battle cries are the loudest. Dragons also use their tails and for defense. Growth: 1 month - baby 1 month after hatching, the dragon is considered a baby, and will need to be taken care of directly often. The dragon during their really early stages will need round the clock care, they will need to eat and drink often. They will need to be taught basic things like going to the bathroom, walking properly, and theyâll need to work on sharpening their telepathy skills, no dragon is capable of forming words or speaking with their riders by voice, they simply connect and share feelings with their human but they can never speak. 2-3 months - kid In this stage, the dragon will be considered around a 6-8 year old. The dragon will be able to walk properly, use the bathroom, and theyâll have decent control over their telepathy. At this stage, basic flying education will begin. 4-6 months - preteen At the end of this stage, the dragon is considered a preteen (10-12). The dragon will be moved into the teen dragon pen after this stage. The dragon should be able to fly on its own now. 7-9 months - early teen At the stage, the dragon is considered (13-15) a teen in human years. Their riders should be able to rider them now, flying classes will begin. Dragon combat classes will begin. 10-12 months - late teen The dragon is considered (16-18) in human years at this stage. Combat classes with their rider will begin. 12-14 months - adult Congratulations, your dragon is an adult now. Your dragon may continue growing 3 after this stage. Your awakening will also be eligible to happen around this time and the next few years. All dragons age quite slowly after reaching adulthood. How does one know when theyâve found their bonded dragon? Bonds feel warm and comforting. If you approach a dragon egg as a dragon rider, here are the signs that it could be your bonded dragon. Being in the presence of the egg makes you want to come closer/find it. Usually the dragon rider will feel like they need to find something suddenly. The egg feels warm and familiar upon touching the shell. Upon touching the shell, if the dragon and the rider are bonded, the egg will feel warm and comforting. If the egg is already fully developed, the rider may even feel a bit of weight on the side of the egg their hand is touching. How are Bonded Dragons Born? Wild dragons typically aren't soul bonded, and their young usually donât develop a bond. Not sure why, but itâs been the case for centuries now. If two soul bonded dragons mate, their young has an extremely high chance of being soul bonded to another dragon rider. You can tell when a dragon is soul bonded by the amount of time they take to hatch. Bonded dragons can take up to 20 years to hatch, especially if their dragon rider isnât of age. Although highly unlikely, if a wild dragon and a bonded dragon mate, the egg that is produced will have to be put under some sort of observation to make sure that it hatches safely. There can be lots of complications such as early hatching and⌠not hatching at all (the dragon could potentially die if the egg isnât watched by a professional dragon nurse). If the egg hatches at the right time, and the dragon seems healthy, if tests show that the dragon has no bond, itâs let out into a dragon forest when it becomes of age and when itâs taught how to fend for itself. However, if the dragon doesnât want to leave, they usually stay in research centers. Wild dragons of any kind can be very aggressive, so these dragons arenât available for public viewing or service. How Would You Find your Dragon Egg? Iâm extremely rare cases, your egg may be found in the wild. Close to 0 dragon riders find their dragon eggs in the wild each year. This is because most dragon eggs, after theyâre nursed to their awaiting stage, are often taken to The Rookery. The Rookery The Rookery is a nesting area that houses all the dragon eggs in Eudora. Theyâre separated by the area they were found in, and by their species. All of the eggs in The Rookery are kept in materials and conditions optimal for each egg to keep them from becoming too weak upon hatching. Staying in the Awaiting stage for more than 20 years will cause the dragon to be a bit weak upon hatching. If theyâre kept in the right conditions, the hatchlingâs fragility will only be temporary. If an egg has waited too long for itâs owner, the dragon will be more prone to in-egg death, but with the right conditions, they can survive in the egg for longer, dragons are stubborn, and they can wait up to thousands of years for their owner in less than optimal conditions. Of course, if placed in a terrible environment, the dragon may not survive as long, but for the most part, the hatchling can survive for a very long time. As you can imagine, The Rookery is a place for newly recruited dragon riders to find their bonds. Some of the most trusted dragon nurses reside here, itâs also guarded pretty well. Upon arrival, dragon riders are escorted around each area starting with the lowest tier of dragons. Once you find your bond, youâll be escorted to the Identification area. On the side of the egg, there will be a magical scan. Place your egg on the crystal board, then the identification employee will hand you a book with the same magical trace and egg in it. Youâll be required to sign a paper so you can sign up for a dragon rider pass, and youâll need to sign up to legally be the bonded rider to whatever dragon you get. After that, thereâs a seating area where a lot of recruits are seated at. You can either sit here or the Botanical Gardens, either one works. Most recruits are here reading about their egg. In this book, there is a detailed description about where the egg was found, the color of the dragon, any inconsistencies that have been gleaned from the egg, age, parents (including the name of the dragon riders who were bonded to the parentâs dragons), preferred environment, and all about the species of the dragon. This book is your personal Bestiary. Itâs a small book (maybe 15 pages at most) that details everything about your dragon egg. If you lose the book, no worries, just bring your egg back to the counter, and theyâll bring out another copy of the book. After youâve taken the time to be well aquatinted with your egg, youâll now need to be assigned to a school. Since there are a lot of new recruits, youâll need to wait a few days for the workers to assign you to a dragon school. At the end of the day, youâll be ushered into a carriage and youâll be staying at Rexington, a town full of new dragon riders. New recruits are taken here specifically because all inns here are free for new dragon riders, the government gives this town a large budget to keep up with demand. Youâll be able to eat, sleep, entertain yourself, for almost nothing. If you do have to pay for something, itâs probably optional and really cheap. That doesnât mean that the stuff here are low quality though, again, this place is heavily sponsored by the government. After around 3-4 days, a messenger will give you a letter. Gaiangrove, Helvengrim, Qaruiabrim, and Empyrigate all have gold embellished letters. Aethergardeâs letter has a gold wax seal, the gold wax matches the gold letters of the letter inside the envelope. (The logo is replaced with Aethergardeâs crest). Dragon Rider Schools: Qaruiabrim Academy for Water Dragon Riders Helvengrim Academy for Fire Dragon Riders Gaiangrove Academy for Earth Dragon Riders Empyrigate Academy for Air Dragon Riders Aethergarde Academy for S Rank Riders: The school is located on a separate major sky island called Ursa Minor. The main island, Ursa Major, has an active transport system to this school. One must have a legitimate pass to the school to use the transport system to get to the academy. The school sends out these passes to students and their families. Some passes have expiry dates, some do not. The transport system is compromised of flying carriages, pegasi pull these carriages, and the carriages themselves are enchanted with some sort of levitation magic by a few mages who helped make the coaches. If you have a dragon, you are more than welcome to use them instead. It's become a law to have an area dedicated to housing dragons for all regions, islands, and kingdoms. All places have an area for the dragons to land at too. Dragon landing pads are called dragon clearings, dragon housing places are called aviaries. Aethergarde Academy is the most prestigious school for dragon riders. It is located in the sky on a sky island, and it's the most well guarded academy out of all four dragon academies in Eudora. This academy has the least amount of students out of all four dragon academies. Admission: One must have a high enough mana capacity or have the ability to become a high tiered dragon rider. In May, there is an evaluation done in every village, town, and city to find dragon riders. All kids aged 15 are to be tested by another dragon rider. Itâs a little similar to ash and bone where they have kids line up to do this test thing, but no blood or pain is involved. There can be multiple testing sites and multiple people that will test others if theyâre a dragon rider within the same area obviously; they will all do the same thing. Only dragon riders that already have their bond dragons can conduct the test. The First Dragon Rider Test: - Have the child look into a seeing ball, while the child is focusing on the ball, the tester will begin to see the childâs aura. Every person has an aura, but dragon riders will typically have a greater presence (larger aura). In this case though, since they have no training in literally anything, they donât even have their dragon yet, they basically have the same size aura as a normal person. The most important part of the aura test is to find the link to another soul. This usually manifests when the child touches the seeing ball. The tester will instruct the child to touch the ball with one hand over the other while still focusing on the seeing device. If the child is indeed a dragon rider, the instructor will see a bright glow (that is the color of their aura) softly refracting out of the crystal ball, and the tendrils of light will form into a baby dragon above the childâs hands. The baby dragon will be in a fetal position, and itâll glow brightly in the color of their dragon. The aura dragon is pretty puffy looking, so oftentimes the examiners will not know what dragon you have Mana Capacity Test: The enter as a first year in Aethergarde Academy, a dragon recruit must reach the high A or S tier mana score according to the first testâs standards. Students can enter in later years if they ever manage to get a high enough mana evaluation. Some Common Myths: Not all of these signs are wrong, but all of these are very common old wives tales, especially in small villages and towns. - A having one or more sharp canine teeth. This isnât a 100% sure sign of a dragon rider, but this trait is really common in dragon riders. - Kids with different appearences and extremely bright or completely opaque eyes. - Kids who are great with weapons. All the schools mostly accept A and B dragon riders, with the exception of Aethergarde Academy. Aethergarde Academy always takes any S tier dragon riders, but also has a lot of high level A tier dragon riders. Dragon Riders: Dragon riders are very well respected people. Dragons are considered sacred creatures, so likewise, their bonded dragon riders are greatly respected. After their dragons are named, a crest the color of the dragonâs scales will appear on the dragon rider. The dragon in the crest will resemble their bond dragon in some way. Typically, theyâll appear somewhere on the arms, hands, chest, throat, back, or legs (especially thighs). The tattoo will be relatively simple at first, over time your tattoo will become even more complex. When your dragon reaches adulthood, the tattoo will cease to grow. Some people end up having a whole sleeve, others donât. Dragons: Dragons are beasts, they cannot communicate with their riders through voice or telepathy, once they hatch and the bond is formed they will share memories and unite souls but such thing does not turn the dragon into a speaking, telepathic being. No. They are beasts, animals with powers that will choose their riders to live and bond with for their own survival and the riderâs own, it is not something you can turn on and off by will, they are animals, beasts, and will act like it. Their riders are precious for them because they see them as a property and family, something they have to keep safe, if any threat is made towards the dragon's rider, they will fight and kill. Beasts. To strengthen the bond, the dragon rider must name the dragon. Itâs advised to do this within a few weeks from birth. Dragons are the rarest kind of beast, have the highest mana capacity out of all and theyâre scales are almost impenetrable. Dragon eggs are described as having a swirly gemstone-like appearance. They typically are black, purple, or blue, and they often emit a metallic sheen. Dragon eggs take 1 year to fully develop properly until entering its Awaiting Stage. The eggs take a lot longer to develop than other beast's eggs because the baby dragon needs more time to make sure that their body can handle their power. Dragons have full membrane wings, and are mostly covered in tough dragon scales. They also at least have 2 long horns on the sides of their heads. All of them have spikes down the backs of their neck and tail, but they may range in sizes. They grow to be one of the largest creatures out of all types of dragons. They have four legs and come in a large range of color, dragons are infamous for being harder to tame than most beast species. Although all dragons have different personalities, dragons all tend to be stubborn. They will never back down from a dominance match from other beasts, they may even start one themselves. Dragons are known for being extremely territorial and protective over their bonded rider. Despite their size, theyâre the fastest kind of beast. Dragons eat meat and bones. They typically donât care if itâs cooked or raw. Since dragon's are natural born hunters, they mostly like raw and⌠fresh. They live in caves, they like the temperature to be warm but cool. Like just in the middle. They love to bathe in the sun.
