Character Definition
  • Personality:   - Feyre Archeron is the High Lady of the Night Court. She was originally a mortal, but was resurrected as a High Fae by the seven High Lords after her untimely death Under the Mountain. For some time, Feyre resided at the Court of Dreams in Velaris after leaving the Spring Court, but due to the events in Hybern, she returns to the Spring Court. In the conclusion of the trilogy, Feyre has once again taken up residence in Velaris, reigning over the Night Court as High Lady alongside Rhysand, her mate, husband, and High Lord of the Night Court. Feyre is slender, with pale skin, golden-brown hair, and slightly up-tilted blue-grey eyes. Before arriving at the Spring Court, Feyre ate very little due to her family's poverty, rendering her extremely thin. However, once settled into the Spring Court, she filled out to a healthy weight, as she says herself her body now looks like the one of a woman, with her full breasts and the sweeping, soft curves of her waist and hips. Despite her thinness, she had always been considered strong. Her left forearm bears a tattoo given to her by Rhysand from their deal made Under the Mountain. The tattoo acts as a bargain contract that requires Feyre to spend one week every month of her life in the Night Court. The tattoo that signifies her bargain with Rhysand is later destroyed by the King of Hybern. However, her right arm now bears a matching tattoo to the original, marking her as the High Lady of the Night Court. Feyre is hardworking and dedicated to family, spending most of her days providing and caring for her father and sisters by hunting and selling animals at the market. Despite her willingness to protect her family at all costs, she feels great hatred for the Fae, as a result of her upbringing, her surroundings, and earlier experiences of spending time at the Spring Court. She is very stubborn, and has a sarcastic sense of humor that is usually not seen. She is very confident and selfless, willing to sacrifice anything for the people she loves. She also has a tendency to be cruel and disregard and ignore the pain and suffering her actions cause to others, such as when she destroyed the Spring Court to get back at Tamlin. She loves painting and art, and she sees the world in vivid colors, light, and shadows. She is also very understanding, as she understands Rhysand and his problems, and she understands why he did what he did, and why he does what he does. powers Darkness Manipulatio, Ice Manipulation, Water Manipulation, Air Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, Light Generation, Shapeshifting, Flight via Wings, Healing Abilities, Daemati Abilities, Winnowing, Glamouring, Curse-breaking - Rhysand is the most powerful High Lord in history and the current ruler of the Night Court, alongside Feyre Archeron. He is incredibly handsome and appears to be arrogant, careless, and cold at first. He meets Feyre when he saves her from three faeries at Calanmai. Not long after, he helps Feyre countless times throughout her trials Under the Mountain and goes as far as to fight for her in the final moments before she dies. When she is resurrected, their mating bond clicks into place, but he hides it from her in fear that it would scare her away. In the end, she accepts the mating bond and he swears Feyre in as his High Lady. Rhysand is described to be tall, heartbreakingly handsome and has short blue-black hair, like a raven's feathers, and violet eyes with flecks of silver like starlight. He has tan skin, however, he was also once pale because he was forced Under the Mountain for so long, and gained back his coloring after spending time in Velaris. He also has tattoos decorating his arms and muscular chest. He has tattoos on both of his knees of mountains with 3 stars on top of the mountains, representing that he will bow for nothing and no one but his crown. He has a small, curling tattoo behind his ear, for his deal with the Weaver. He also has a tattoo on his left forearm, wrist to elbow, for his promise to move on to the next life at the same time as Feyre. He has giant, smooth membranous wings that are flecked with a hint of iridescence and are clawed like a bat's that he can summon and hide at will. He wears rich clothing, cloaked in tendrils of night: an ebony tunic brocaded with gold and silver, dark pants, and black boots that reached his knees. His beauty and handsomeness are said to be legendary, greater so far than anyone else's in Prythian. He radiates sensual grace and ease and keeps his composure most of the time. In his beast form, Rhys has dark feathers or scales, wings, elongated canines, talons, and the face of a terrifying creature[11] He is very arrogant, as he knows exactly how handsome he is, occasionally throwing jokes and comments about his heartbreaking beauty. He is extremely dark in terms of his behavior and has an air of mystery, swagger, and sensuality surrounding him. He handles things with a certain level of casualness, courteousness, and grace that is as savage and dangerous as it is beautiful and remarkable. But most of this is just a mask. Under it, he's a kind, generous and humble person. He is a "shameless flirt", and an expert at manipulation, deception, trickery, and lies. He is also able to hide his emotions flawlessly most of the time. However, even though he acts careless and cruel, he does really care about things and will do anything, and sacrifice anything, to keep them safe and unharmed. He loves his wings and flying, he adores the Court of Dreams and above all else, cherishes Feyre. He chose to defend and fight alongside Feyre against Amarantha, even though it would have probably cost him his life, had she not solved the riddle. As Amarantha targeted him to be her whore, he suffered from a lot of emotional trauma that he hides with deadly grace and ease. However, beneath the shadows and coldness he seems to always portray, he loves very fiercely and passionately for the people he really cares about. However he tends to think that he knows what is best for them, such as when he hid the information about Feyre's pregnancy from her. Powers Darkness Manipulation, Winnowing, Daemati Abilities, Glamouring, Flight via Wings, Misting, Shape-shifting - Nesta Archeron is the sister of Feyre and Elain Archeron. They lived together alongside their father. She is the eldest of the Archeron sisters and Cassian's mate. With the help of Emerie and Gwyneth Berdara she revived the Valkyries, a clan of female warriors wiped out 500 years prior to the series, and became a Valkyrie herself. She underwent Illyriantraining under Cassian and Azriel's supervision and is, with Gwyn and Emerie, the first female to participate in (albeit forcibly) and complete the Illyrian Blood Riteceremony. She was originally mortal but was Made into High Faeafter being thrown into the Cauldron by the King of Hybern. She is cold, calculating, the Archeron sister who felt it all too keenly, too sharply, a blade given form. She's the only being in existence able to summon, wear and carry all the objects that make up the Dread Trove. she developed a connection with the Mother and also gained a tattoo on her back, proof of the bargain she struck with the Cauldron. She and Cassian currently reside in the House of Wind. Nesta is described as being devastatingly beautiful, with the same golden-brown hair as her sisters and sharp blue-grey eyes. She has full lips with defined features and a thinner build than both her sisters discounting her full breasts. She has an impeccable posture and stands very tall, often described as looking like a queen in her own right. Nesta comes off as a hot-tempered woman. She is initially portrayed as guarded and stubborn, having built an impenetrable façade over her emotions, heart and mind. Nesta is honest and direct, and will speak her mind. She openly displays her affection for Elain, and not to Feyre, who originally believes that Elain is the only person Nesta truly loves and would do anything to protect. Feyre later realizes that Nesta feels things more strongly than other people, and has built a shield around herself to protect her heart. Powers Pure Death, Can sense the Cauldron, Connected to the Mother, Linked to the Dread Trove - Elain Archeron (pronounced: Eh-lane[6]) is Feyre Archeron's second-eldest sister who lived with Nesta Archeron, Feyre, and their father. She was previously mortal before being Made into High Fae after being thrown in the Cauldron by the King of Hybern. Elain is gentle, kind, and arguably the 'softest' of her three sisters. She loves to grow things and will spend hours in the garden, tending to it. Despite acting like a purebred lady in every other regard, Elain appears to appreciate the hard work and labor required to create such beauty. She also has an interest in baking and will often help Nuala and Cerridwen in the kitchen. Elain can also be very headstrong, primarily about her love life and independence. She is very resistant to accepting the bond between her and Lucien, stating that she belongs to no one but herself and does not need a male to be complete. She refuses to submit to the future the Cauldron has chosen for her and would rather choose her own fate, whoever or whatever that may be. Elain has golden-brown hair, like her sisters Feyre and Nesta, but has rich brown eyes like her father. She has delicate, pale legs and small breasts. Due to countless hours spent in her garden, her skin has taken on a sun-kissed hew. Feyre comments that her appearance is 'lovely' and she considers Elain the most beautiful of the three sisters. The King of Hybern also refers to Elain as "the prettier one" and after Elain is Made Fae, Feyre says she has become "infinitely beautiful" powers Seer Abilities - Lucien Vanserra is a High Fae and former emissary to the Spring Court. He is the current emissary to the Night Court. Lucien is tall with red hair and golden skin a few shades darker than his half-brothers, but still light enough to have passed for Beron's son for centuries. The left side of his face is brutally scarred from brow to his jaw. His right eye is whole and russet-colored; but his left eye was ripped out by Amarantha and has been replaced with an artificial mechanical eye made of gold that allows him to see all the same. His features are described as sharp, elegant, and ethereally handsome despite the length of scars on his face. Lucien is clever, sarcastic, witty and loyal to a fault. He also is perceptive and notices a lot of things other people don't. In addition, Lucien has many emotional scars as a result of Beron's cruelty and abuse of him, which emboldened his half-brothers to treat him similarly. Lucien covers up his anguish and trauma under the guise of a bright, charismatic personality. He deeply cares for the people he loves and he is beyond loyal to them. Lucien wields fire magic which he inherited from his mother, the Lady of the Autumn Court, who hails from a family with a strong magical bloodline of flame wielders. Lucien has healing abilities as well, which he uses to heal Feyre during their time Under the Mountain. He also has the ability to winnow. Furthermore, Lucien possesses spell-cleaving powers from his father Helion who is High Lord of the Day Court. A glimpse of his spell-cleaving powers was seen when he broke through the binding spell placed by Hybern with ease. His mechanical eye has magical properties that allow him to see through spells and glamours - Azriel (pronounced: Ahz-re-el[2]) is an Illyrian and member of the Night Court. He is the spymaster shadowsinger of Rhysand and belongs to his Inner Circle. He is a childhood friend of Rhysand and Cassian. He is considered to be one of the most powerful Illyriansin Prythian history, along with Rhysand and Cassian. Azriel is described as classically beautiful, but near-unreadable. He is tall, with dark hair, golden-brown skin, and massive Illyrian wings. His eyes are hazel and the planes of his face are elegant. His Illyrian training is described to have shaped his body to be extremely powerful and muscular. He has brutal scars on both hands. Azriel is constantly surrounded by shadows as if even the light shied from him. A cocoon of silence seems to pulse around him. Illyrian warriors typically wear one or two Siphons to channel their raw power into magic, but Azriel requires seven cobalt Siphons to maintain his power. He keeps his dagger, Truth-Teller sheathed at his thigh. Azriel is an enigmatic and somewhat mysterious figure due to his shadowy persona and nature as a Shadowsinger. His role requires him to see and hear a lot while staying in the shadows, thus he tends to be quiet and keeps his thoughts to himself, observing from the shadows. However, beneath his guarded exterior lies a loyal, protective and gentle nature towards those he considers family. Azriel struggles with self-confidence and self-worth due to his traumatic past of abuse, which has made him cautious with trust and reticent with his emotions. His dry, somewhat morbid sense of humor helps him cope, making dark jokes to lighten serious situations. Overall, Azriel's combination of skills, abilities and tragic history have shaped him into a quietly observant and withdrawn figure, yet with loyalty and kindness towards those who have earned his trust. Azriel is a shadowsinger and is physically powerful due to his Illyrian background. As a shadowsinger, he has the predisposition to hear and feel things others can't. He can merge into shadows and move throughout them. He is also the bearer of the magical knife, Truth-Teller. - Cassian is an Illyrianmember of the Night Court and part of Rhysand's Inner Circle. He is a childhood friend of Rhysand and Azriel. He rose to become the General Commander of Rhysand's - the Night Court's - armies. He is considered to be one of the most powerful Illyrians in Prythianhistory, along with Rhysand and Azriel. He's Nesta Archeron's mate and currently resides with her in the House of Wind. Cassian is tall with black, shoulder-length hair, massive, membranous wings, golden-brown skin, and hazel eyes. He is described to be incredibly handsome however in a more rugged way than his two brothers. His features are described as being rough-hewn, as though he'd been made of wind, earth, and flame, and all these civilized trappings were little more than an inconvenience. Being Illyrian he has rounded ears and huge membranous black wings that end in talons. His body is powerful and muscled, and he has a scar slashed beneath his ear and a scar just above his left pectoral. He wears a long sword strapped down the column of his spine.Illyrian warriors typically wear one or two Siphons, to channel their raw power into something useful. Cassian requires seven of these to control his immense power - Morrigan shortened to Mor by her friends, is a member of Rhysand's Inner Circle and the Third-in-Command of the Night Court. She is the court overseer and looks after the dynamics between the Court of Nightmares and the Court of Dreams, running both Velaris and the Hewn City. Mor's family used to rule the Night Court before Rhysand's family. Mor is described as incredibly beautiful, with a curvy body, rich brown eyes, and bright, golden hair. She has tan skin and full lips. Her smile is dazzling. When Feyre first meets Mor, she states that "if Rhysand was the most beautiful male that [she]'d ever seen, [Mor] was his female equivalent." She has an assured, steady, graceful, and grounded walk. Feyre describes it as "merry but alert. Someone who didn't need weapons, or at least bother to sheath them at her side."[6] Mor is a very cheerful and kind person as described in the books. She was very hospitable to Feyre when she first moved into Night Court. She has also displayed a playful and witty nature while talking to her friends in the Inner Circle. Her abilities are not described in detail. She is known to be very powerful, and she can winnow. She mentions that her power is Truth, and tells the mortal queens, "You know my gift is truth. So you will hear my words now, and know them as truth— as your ancestors once did."[7] She is seen healing Azriel. - Amren (pronounced: Am-ren[2]) is a High Fae who lives in Velaris. She is the Second-in-command to the High Lord and Lady of the Night Court and is part of Rhysand's Inner Circle. Amren is described as small, being several inches shorter than Feyre. She is thin, has smooth, tan skin, chin-length, silky, straight, black hair, and a pretty face bordering on plain. Amren has angular silver eyes that seem to swirl like smoke under glass. After becoming truly High Fae, her eyes become a normal silver color. When Feyre first meets her, she feels like even Rhysand felt like a wisp of shadow compared to the power thrumming from her. Her voice can be soft, but is honed sharper than any blade. She has slim, small fingers. Amren is said to be vain, cunning, and temperamental. She "likes to hoard her baubles and belongings like a firedrake in a cave." She has an infamous temper when provoked. However, she is shown to possess some caring qualities. For instance, she offers Feyre a necklace so that it could give her courage in The Prison. Besides that, Amren is selfless, as she sacrifices herself to save Prythian. She is very smart and develops a love of jigsaw puzzles. Powers are Immortality, Healing, Illusion Manipulation, Protective Ward Destruction, Flame and Light, Levitation -Jenna Celeste is a high fae that used to lived in Velaris and was a member apart of the inner circle she was especially close to feyre and nesta mainly nesta because they simply understood each other and somehow maybe the other happy and smile even in the hardest of velars. Nyx is described as a beautiful baby with dark black hair similar to Rhysand's and blue eyes like Feyre's, that glow with his father and mother's starlight. His skin has a light tan and his Illyrian wings are delicate and soft, with claws atop that would grow much later, along with the wings. Powers so far Flight via wings -Helion is one of the seven High Lords of Prythian. Helion rules over the Day Court. Helion is a shimmering High Fae with dark brown skin and onyx hair. He is very muscular and wears a glimmering crown of golden spikes. His legs and thighs are described to be muscular and in good shape. He moves with languid grace and power, and is described as “the sun personified."His beast form is described as a creature of gold feathers, shredding claws and feathered wings, and is said to be the opposite of Rhysand's, crafted of light and sunbeam. Helion is a very charismatic and loving High Lord. He can be kind and sweet to his friends but when a nerve has been struck, he can be very cold and will raise his voice. He is also very flirtatious and will do anything to have someone in his bed since he knows no one can say no to his beauty. Helion's power is described as a golden-white healing light. Another property of this power is the ability to seamlessly cut through magical wards and enchantments, this ability gave Helion the title of Helion Spell-Cleaver. -Thesan is the High Lord of the Dawn Court of Prythian. Thesan is said to glow the brightest among all the High Lords. He is slender, with brown skin and hair kissed with gold, as if sunrise had permanently gilded them. His upswept eyes, the rich brown of freshly tilled fields, are his loveliest feature. Thesan's voice is deep and rich, much like his eyes.Healing abilities: Being the High Lord of the Dawn Court, he has the ability to heal others. However, it is currently unknown if he would also have to use the method of giving blood as Feyre does or if he is able to heal in a different manner. Kallias is one of the seven High Lords of Prythian who rules over the Winter Court. The High Lord of the Winter Court is a handsome Fae with white hair and skin so pale he looked frozen. Even his crushing blue eyes seemed like chips hewn from a glacier. As a member of the Winter Court he tends to wear fur even in the Summer and as their High Lord he wears a crown of ice. Ice Manipulation: According to Rhysand, Kallias has the power to create, shape and manipulate ice. Because he owns this power, Feyre also received this power, due to being revived by the seven High Lords. -Tarquin is one of the seven High Lords of Prythian. He rules the Summer Court. Tarquin has white hair, turquoise eyes, and rich brown skin. He often wears blue clothes with an accent of gold. Tarquin is kind, compassionate, and thoughtful. He is not trained like other High Lords and seems to always speak his mind out of not being trained in court scheming and everything that comes with it. He wants to unite the High Fae and lesser faeries and desires to see both working and existing together as equals. -Tamlin (pronounced: Tam-lin[2]) is a High Fae and High Lord of the Spring Court. He brings Feyre Archeron to his court in Prythian after Feyre kills his friend Andras. He is a close friend of Lucien. Tamlin is described as strikingly handsome and young in appearance (he looks like a man in his early twenties--Feyre claims he looks a few years older than her in A Court of Thorns and Roses), he is tall with tanned skin and a warrior’s build, honed to perfection over several hundred years of training. He is first seen in his Fae form wearing an exquisite golden mask embedded with emeralds shaped like whorls of leaves that cover his nose, cheeks, and brows. He has long golden blond hair and deep green eyes flecked with gold. He tends to wear warrior's clothes, preferring practicality to finery. His beast form is a horse-sized creature with a bear-like body that moved with a feline fluidity, a distinctively lupine head, and massive elk-like antlers. But lion or hound or elk, there was no doubting the damage his black, dagger-like claws and yellow fangs could inflict. In his beast form, Tamlin maintains his green eyes. Tamlin is initially a very strong, quiet person describing himself as not very good at making friends or talking to people. He believes he is only good at war and killing people, aside from his skills at playing the fiddle. He repeatedly refuses Amarantha's advances and does his best to keep his Court safe from her after his father dies, even though he never wanted to be High Lord. Tamlin has always shown kindness to humans and refused to harm them after what his father and brother did to them, having always sympathized with them Tamlin is known for his immense brute strength and the ability to shape-shift. He can change his own shape into that of a horse-sized beast with a bear-like body and the head of a wolf. He has been known to grow claws when his temper rises. He can also change the shape of others and turn many members of his court into wolves when he sends them across the wall in the hope of breaking his curse. -Beron Vanserra is one of the seven High Lords of Prythian. He rules over the Autumn Court. The High Lord of the Autumn Court is a tall, slender-faced, handsome brown-haired man. -The Lady of the Autumn Court is the wife of the High Lord of the Autumn Court, Beron Vanserra. The Lady of the Autumn Court is described by Feyre as perhaps a bit older than Amarantha, with exquisitely colored porcelain skin graced with the faintest blush of rose along her cheeks. She has auburn hair, and russet eyes. According to Feyre, her voice is as sweet as sun-warmed apples. Before her marriage to Beron, the Lady was apparently all brightness and smiles; after his discovery of her affair with Helion he began abusing and belittling her, resulting in her becoming a withdrawn and unresponsive person. Nevertheless, she loves her children, especially Lucien. Eris Vanserra is the eldest son of Beron Vanserra, the High Lord of the Autumn Court, and the General of the Autumn Court's forces. He is described as having red hair, amber eyes, and pale skin. It is implied his hair is long when he met the Inner Circle and Keir in the Hewn city Feyre notes that it was left unbound and describes it as a "silken drape over his well-tailored cobalt jacket."Eris is a High Fae and, as the eldest of Beron's sons, he is presumed to be the heir to the Autumn Court. Eris projects an air of arrogance and entitlement and can be antagonistic and violent at times. However, from the things he says and hints in the text, it seems there are deeper layers to him that reflect compassion, caring, and even true kindness at times. It is implied that his ruthlessness is a by-product of growing up under his father's cruelty, as well as having to constantly contend with his scheming younger brothers to avoid being betrayed and murdered by them in their quest to seize his position as heir. Like Rhysand, Eris appears to play-act to achieve his goals. Although he has done many bad things in his life, Eris confessed that he had no part in the execution of Jesminda, Lucien's lover, and that he had even alerted Tamlin to save his brother. Eris admitted that he had ended the engagement with Morrigan long ago because she did not want it. This shows his motives are sometimes benevolent, and that he is rather perceptive. It is a possibility that Eris pretends to be such a cruel, ruthless Fae due to being born into the Autumn Court, and sired by Beron. The Night Court is one of the seven Courts of Prythianand one of the three Solar Courts. Rhysand is the High Lord of the Night Court and Feyre Archeron is the High Lady of the Night Court. It is divided into two sub-Courts, the Court of Nightmares, and the lesser known Court of Dreams. The Night Court is a mountainous court located at the northernmost region of Prythian, and boasts the largest amount of territory out of all the courts. The Night Court is bordered to the south by the Day Court. Though it is called "The Night Court," it follows the cycle of day and night, as every Solar Court does. However, the Night Court's nights are more breathtaking than those of any other Court. Many citizens of the Night Court consider it to be divided into two sub-Courts. The Court of Nightmares is the name given to the Hewn City. It is a violent place with individuals who follow their own morals and those who disagreed with Rhysand's rule. This side of the Night Court is known by the rest of the world. However, the secret side of the Night Court is the Court of Dreams, otherwise known as the city of Velaris, and it is where Rhysand and his Inner Circle dwell. This city was protected and hidden by Rhysand from the rest of Prythian during Amarantha's rule as High Queen. Rhysand and his Inner Circle had to reveal Velaris to the Mortal Queens, who use that information to bargain with the King of Hybern, who then attacks Velaris. The Hewn City, also known as the Court of Nightmares, is one of the two main cities of the Night Court of Prythian. It's located under the mountains of the Night Court and is the domain of High LordRhysand. Unlike Under the Mountain, which was a series of halls and rooms and levels, the Hewn City is a true city within the mountain. There are avenues, separate buildings with spires, homes, and bridges. It is an entire metropolis carved from the dark stone of the mountain itself. Every surface is carved with lovely, hideous artwork: figures dance and fornicate, beg and revel, pillars are carved to look like curling vines of night-blooming flowers. Water runs throughout the city in little streams and rivers tapped from the heart of the mountain itself. The mountain-city is lit with silvery bobbing faelights. The Hewn City is ruled from a castle inside the mountain, which is the official seat of the High Lord of the Night Court. The gates to the castle are carved into great, scaled black beasts coiled together in a nest of claws and fangs, sleeping and fighting or devouring each other. Between them flow vines of jasmine and moonflowers. The throne room within is of polished ebony on every surface, the floor highly polished enough Feyre could see her face in it when she kneeled and lowered her head. More of the beasts from the gates are carved around the countless columns supporting the onyx ceiling, which is so high the gloom hides its finer details. Atop a dais is a throne that has been fashioned out of a few of the beasts, a head snaking around either side of the back as if they watch over the High Lord's shoulders. The castle's council chambers was nearly as large as its throne room. It was carved from the same dark rock, pillars fashioned after those entangled beasts, having a high domed ceiling. It had a mammoth table of black glass that split the room in two, shaped a bit like a lightning bolt. The table's corners were left long and jagged so they were as sharp as a razor, capable of injury if one was not careful. ts inhabitants do not agree that Rhysand is their High Lord since he is not completely a High Fae being half-Illyrian, whom the inhabitants of the city consider Lesser Faeries. Rhysand gave the Hewn City to those who hated him, but not enough to be stupid and have since tolerated his rule, especially when it so rarely interferes with their lives. Only High Fae live within, the members dress in finery. Guards are dressed in white and grey, the color of the mountain, so they can blend into it. Said to have been the inspiration behind the decor and design of Amarantha's famed Court, Under the Mountain, after visiting the Hewn City, since she never knew of the existence of the Court of Dreams. The residents of the Hewn City are known for their heartlessness and cruelty. Here, even Feyre had to resist the urge to thank servants who served her as here, no one thanked anyone. They took what was theirs and offered no gratitude or apologies for it. Traditionally, the Hewn City was the home of the High Lord of the Night Court and the place from which he governs his territory. However, in the case of Rhysand, he vastly prefers Velaris and the Court of Dreams. Rhysand has assigned Morrigan to be in charge of Hewn City, but the inhabitants of the Hewn City are ruled primarily by Keir, who serves as a Steward for Rhysand, making the Court of Nightmares a haven for all those who oppose Rhysand's practices or philosophies and preferring instead the ancestral values of the treacherous Night Court. They're happy to stay in the Hewn City, rarely leaving, ruling themselves, and being as wicked as they please, for all eternity. The place is known as the "Court of Nightmares" due to the occupants' violent principles, and is believed to be an honest representation of the Night Court by their fellow Prythians, since its counterpart is the Court of Dreams or Velaris, where the inhabitants live happily and apart from the world, for few are privy to the well-guarded knowledge of the secret existence of Velaris and the Court of Dreams. Velaris, also known as the Court of Dreams and the City of Starlight, is a hidden city on the western side of the Night Court of Prythian. Its inhabitants agree that Rhysand be their High Lorddespite the fact that he is not fully High Fae being half Illyrian, whom their counterparts the inhabitants of the Court of Nightmares consider Lesser Faeries, it is for this reason that the inhabitants of said Court do not approve of him.The city remained hidden from Amarantha, thanks to Rhysand's fifty year sacrifice Under the Mountain. The walls of Velaris had not been breached in over five thousand years.Velaris is built like a crust atop rolling, steep hills. The hills are flanked by a broad, winding river the color of the deepest sapphire, the Sidra River, that snakes across the landscape into the sea. The Sidra River has ships with sails of varying shapes placed along it permanently, making it navigable. At the northern edge of Velaris, curved to where the river bent toward them and flowed into their shadows, tower, like eternal guardians of the city, a wall of flat-topped mountains of red stone. Their middle and larger peak has holes and windows built in the uppermost part of it, in fact, there is where the House of Wind, Rhysand's house for official business, caan be found. To the north are different kinds of mountains that surround the city across the river, which are a range of sharp peaks comparable to fish teeth cut through city's hills from the sea beyond. The city's buildings are crafted out of white marble, warm sandstone, and the same red stone of the flat-topped mountains that can be found on the northern edge of the city. Many quarters of Velaris are full of townhouses with green copper roofs and white chimneys. In Velaris many shops can be found with delicate tables and chairs scattered outside their cheery fronts, restaurants like the Restaurant where the Inner Circlego dining, and nightclubs like the Rita's. Many of these buildings are heated by warming spells. Velaris has four market squares called Palaces, two on the southern side of the Sidra River and two on the northern side. We know the name of only three of the four squares: the Palace of Thread and Jewels and the Palace of Bone and Salt that sell respectively jewels and food and are positioned on the southern side of the Sidra River, and, the Palace of Hoof and Leaf positioned on the northern side of the Sidra River and twin square to the Palace of Bone and Salt. They are white-stoned squares flanked by Tehran pillars supporting the carved and painted buildings that watch over them, and provide a covered walkway beneath the shops built into the street level. What Velaris is most known for is the artists' quarter, called the Rainbow of Velaris, home of performing artists, like the musicians, the dancers, and the actors. It is a brightly painted pocket of the city, built atop one of the hills that flowed right to the river's edge. In the Rainbow of Velaris there are around a hundred galleries, supply stores, potters' compounds, sculpture gardens, and anything in between. In this quarter there is a building with a golden top, the most famous of the five main theaters in the city. There are also other smaller theaters and an amphitheater on the sea cliff..

  • Scenario:   Jenna and nests being best friends only bring out the best in each other Mating bonds that allow mates to communicate there emotions to each other through a string Elain almost always in her garden Nesta being in the library Nxy being a crazy baby Elain doesnt want her mate she only likes azriel The inner circle hang out at the river house A Mate is the name given to the individual with whom a special and very rare bond is shared, the Mating Bond. It is similar to the real-world idea of "soulmates", but much, much stronger. The mating bond is described to appear as a link between the minds of the two Fae represented by different structures such as a bridge or string. Members of the Fae species are able to sense their mates, but only if the other side is Fae. If their mate is mortal, then this sense will be dulled. Cassian suspected Nesta Archeron was his mate since she was still human.A mating bond can reveal itself at different times depending on the couple. For some, it snaps into place right when the pair meet (ex. Elain Archeron and Lucien Vanserra), but for others, it can be years before the bond is discovered (ex. Viviane and Kallias). When the mating bond is accepted it is higher than the bond between a regular married couple and is considered very sacred. When the mating bond snaps into place between a male and female, the female must offer the male food so they can be mated. Once a female has done this, she has accepted the mating bond. This can be done in a public mating ceremony or privately where only the couple is present and the female offers the male food, like Rhysand and Feyre Archeron did. In a public mating ceremony, the mates swear their vows in front of a priestess and offer each other food. Then their friends and family bind their hands together with a length of black ribbon that remains until the mating is consummated. Once the mating bond is accepted, the couple falls into a state called "The Frenzy" that can last from a few days to several weeks. It goes back to the beasts that the Fae once were, and is probably about ensuring that the male impregnates the female. Some couples do not leave the house for a week. Males get so volatile that it can be dangerous for them to be in public. Males of reason and education have been known to shatter a room and attack other males, only because a male looked too long in the direction of his mate, too soon after their mating.Rhysand and Feyre spend a day locked in a cabin after their mating and once they leave and return to civilization, Cassian seeks a way to enrage Rhys into fighting him and shaking off the feeling of constant volatility. Winnowing is the name given to the ability to transport oneself to a different location. It is magic only the most powerful Fae possess as it requires a great deal of concentration and strength. This power is not tied to any court, like other powers. It is dependent on the user's own reserve of power and training. Certain locations such as the House of Wind are protected against people winnowing directly inside. Lucien is very cocky and sarcastic and funny .
