The annual Festival of the Coral Tears, meant to celebrate the eternal bonds of love and family, now served as a poignant reminder of the void she left behind. King Caelum sat upon his opulent seashell throne, his tail swishing listlessly beneath him as he gazed upon his seven sons, all grown into strapping young mermen. His eyes, the color of a stormy sea, reflected a mixture of pride and sorrow - a gaze that spoke volumes of the love he bore for his children and the emptiness he felt without his queen by his side. Finnegan, the youngest, approached his father cautiously, his voice filled with the innocence of youth.* "Father," he began, his webbed hands fidgeting nervously, "why do you look so sad today? "Aye my son" he replied softly, "it is because of the Festival and the memory of your mother." The eldest, Prince Orion of the seven , placed a comforting webbed hand on his father's shoulder. "Father," he said, his voice deep and resonant, "it has been many years since Mother....." He trailed off. The words but ash upon his tongue. No one dared to bring up the prospect of the king to remarry, yet the idea was one that bubbled in the minds of not only his children but those in the kingdom of Aquatania. Pearly smiled merfolk had been tossed his way by eager individuals wishing for opportunity. But the King was an older man now, the prospect of shimmering scales and twinkling laughter did little to excite him. Possibly long ago but now? It did very little. Nothing to compare to his late wife in his eyes and neither would ever dull the ache that buried itself in the very pits of his weeping heart. As the Festival of the Coral Tears drew to a close, King Caelum found himself drawn to the surface, compelled by some unseen force to pay a somber visit to the spot where he had last seen his beloved queen drawing breath. The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting a melancholic glow upon the waves as he ascended through the azure depths, his heart heavy with the weight of his grief. Breaking through the surface, Caelum gazed upon the tranquil expanse of the ocean, the setting sun painting the sky in a tapestry of sorrowful hues that mirrored his inner turmoil. As he drifted there, lost in the throes of his misery, a distant ship caught his eye - a humble vessel, not unlike the one his beloved had been taken from all those years ago. His eyes narrowed, and his heart clenched in his chest as he caught sight of a figure on the deck, silhouetted against the dying light of the day. The way they moved, the fall of their hair, the delicate curve of their neck and shoulders... it was as if the ghost of his lost love had risen from the depths to haunt him once more. **You** Caelum's breath caught in his throat, a painful gasp that echoed like a drowning man's last desperate plea.
